I feel old now. PST was such a great game too.
Shadowlands ugh…yeah there isn’t really anything good about that expansion IMO. Maybe except some mogs. Otherwise you could write a book about how awful that expansion was.

Consumers expect game being fun not the budget.
budget corellates with graphical fidelity, amount of things like cutscenes and voice over.
Baldur’s gate 3 wouldn’t be the same game without it’s 100 mil$ budget
That for an RTS matters little in the end.
starcraft 2 has literally best story campaign of all rts precisely because of the budget, also it has very neat presentation and visuals.
What you linked looks subpar at best
The Maw is worst zone ever Blizzard have done!
While I do agree with that, the story is not their USP.
And since the team behind stormgate is the same one of SC 2, we can probably expect the done the work in their pre-production to rival SC2 without the same amount of budget.
I think there is a bit of a difference though between the Ancient stories and the story in Shadowland. In the ancient story it’s often the hero going to the place which is said to be impossible to go to. With the Maw, so much of the story revolves around things getting out of the Maw for the story to work. That just stands out as incredibly bad writing.
But yes, I agree that story has for a long time been a complete mess, and it comes from them not actually caring too much about the story between expansions, nor caring at all about the overarching story of the Warcraft story. Hence why retcon has been used all the time, just to fit into the next “cool” expansion. Making it a complete mess for those of us who have followed the lore since Metzen consolidated it back in Warcraft 3.
“Laugh in antoran wastes”
Maybe better handling and not everyone being oblivious to it, like it’s dogma. If anyone noticed that the Maw was leaking it would be better, heck add in that no one else noticed and we go rescue the peps that did and were captured/dragged off to maintain secrecy.
They already don’t rival sc2, stormgate looks worse than game released 14 years ago.
Sc2 campaign strongest side isn’t writing but pacing and how it densely packed with choices and variety of uniquely designed missions accompanied with cinematic cutscenes.
Never seen low budget game that has something like this, because they cant produce it
Graphics≠quality
They added the space goats as a half-baked justification to have BL (shamans) in the alliance.
Thats what they really wanted to fix.
Visuals are quality, graphic fidelity - depends on art style.
Game literally looks uninspired.
Visuals can’t compensate for poor gameplay. It’s an RTS not a graphic novel.
Are you implying that good visuals aren’t needed for game to be enjoyable and sell well?
Let’s turn warcraft and starcraft in a DOS text game with dots instead of models then.
If visuals are uninspired high key story will be some generic crap too, they didn’t showcase any of the story elements, the only thing they advertised is it being an RTS developed by ex starcraft devs.
So it just leaves us with notion that game will maybe be enjoyable to play in PvP matches, which is basically can tell us that game is doomed because RTS by itself is dead genre and the only alive examples like total war are very single player focused.
As I said before Visuals has never been the USP of Blizzard RTS.
It helps but is not the element that decide its success.
I remember a few days ago I shared to you the channell of one of the devs that worked on WC3 and he is freelancing on stormgate too, you should really check it out
How starved for attention are you to randomly post this two years too late
Games aren’t succesful because of just one element, they are succesful because of combination of elements, like you don’t eat just pickles from pizza, you eat pizza as a whole product.
True, but every successful game posses a USP that captivates his TA. That why pre-production is most times more important than production.
