This is not a bad idea, because next expansion is focused on Alliance vs Horde conflict, and it would make Siege of Stormwind way more popular content than Siege of Orgrimmar was.

What you all are forgetting is that Stormwind and Undercity and a small part of Ironforge is actually owned by King Roger Rat who currently resides in a secret network of tunnels and catacombs below the cities and links via goblin and gnome worm generators to Undercity. The masons of the Defias Brotherhood who built Stormwind were owed a ton of money by the king and to set matters straight they mortgaged great chunks of the cities to the rats who became the legal owners. The secret passages and entrances to the underground kingdom are guarded by Dwarves and SI-7 guards. There is one standing upstairs in the cheese shop. Try and enter at your peril.
Whilst King Roger was agreeable to the discharge of rights to Undercity he was more than a little troubled by the possible issues with Stormwind and Ironforge. Goblins and Gnomes have been working feeding King Roger with artefacts and treasures collected from dungeons and digs and these are farmed between the three cities. King Roger is good friends with both Alliance and Horde and has made it clear that they can take their fight to the countryside as long as they dont interfere with the Goblin and Gnome activity.
Trade Prince Gallywix already met with Sylvanas and told her that rocks and stones are sacred , though wooden stuff is less important. In truth if such a thing was to happen you would see the underbelly of Warcraft rise from the sewers and consume the living and the dead. Both leaders know of the financial agreements and honour is everything to King Roger. Roger's minions are currently heavily invested in retrieving a large sword artefact that Gallywix is particularly interested in and Sylvanas was ready to barter Undercity for its worth.
So my advice is don't mix it with the Rat. King Roger has yet to play his card in any part of this feud between Alliance and Horde. Roger is good freinds with both Sylvanas and Anduin and they have unwritten agreements. However Roger has no time at all for Orcs..... His armies venture rarely outside of Eastern Kingdoms. Evidently it is something to do with them having smelly feet. But don't quote me on it.
Extracts taken from the 'Annals of Stormwind' which can be found in a secret chamber just to the left of the Ironforge bank above one of the balconies. You can only get there by wall jumping .... which is not allowed. Time was the Horde would raid Ironforge just to get to the chamber. Never happens now.

Alliance has not destroyed a single major Horde city, while Horde has destroyed 2 major Alliance cities and 1 of their own by now. In this light I'd say nope.
