Yeah that’s how it goes. Although how much better sl is compared to bfa or legion was compared to wod subs could be in decline. We don’t know the sub numbers however.

At least back up your numbers with valid data, which only Blizzard has btw. It is known however that wow has been declining since wotlk though. I’m not telling any news or fake news btw lol.
Also, let’s see how much shadowlands will lose over it’s course compared to wod. That will be interesting, could end up with 10 subcribers who knows

The numbers are not exactly based on sources where you can say it hard translates into players, you can use them for an estimate but not to call out hard facts.
Slands did a few things right but unfortionately it also did a few things wrong and after BFA they simply could not afford to do things wrong (something they were told) yet they still did it.
It’s unfair to compare it to WoD because WoD didn’t follow up BFA
If we had legion before slands more people would likely still be playing
This is the biggest insult to WoD ever.
Also What actually is “normal”, If credible metrics are there to support the number of players is around the same as other expansions, then it’s still a loss,
Blizzard claimed record sales of shadowlands over other expansion’s which would clearly imply more people purchased the game, so even if % of “fall off” is same as other expansions then Shadowlands should still have more players still playing, but it doe’s not.
Personally the pre release hype and info from Blizz grossly mis advertised and promised far more that was actually in the final product, Ion himself openly admitting " we had to cut a lot of corner’s, just to get the game playable for launch"
If it is true the expansion did have record sales, it was only because of the huge over sell from Blizz clearlly misadvertising practically every aspect of all the new content…it was a con from the get go.

I quite enjoyed WoD myself. I know some struggle without compulsory grinds but I can always find things to do in game.
I even geared up and did some raiding on alts in WoD, something I never usually bother with.
I miss Khadgar.

I’ll be honest. After playing SL for 1-2 days I realized I had no love for it. This expansion is quite bad.
- The story doesn’t feel it belongs to Warcraft at all.
- The zones designs, while they are great. They don’t give me Warcraft vibes. ( Except Maldraxxus, which is just an HD version of plaguelands in my opinion )
- The anima & Torghast grinds… am I expected to explain this?
- Covenants… please no more borrowed powers!
- Questlines are timegated
- The scaling in this expansion is horrible! ( Now speaking about this. Blizzard was never good at scaling… )
The only reason I have subbed is for leveling my alts for 10.0 in case it turned out to be good. Plus I wanted to revisit some zones. I have never touched the end-game content since months. And I’ll probably not anytime soon

A lot of people enjoyed it because they didn’t need to play it. 
Quite obvious that I actually played the expansion.
I even went Alliance up to and including Blackrock Foundry, then I went back to Horde for Hellfire Citadel, ready for Legion.
They literally post the same drivel almost daily. It’s kinda sad.

I know I often read these posts and chuckle. And query why people reply. Then notice their topic gets sidelined and we end up with conversations just like this.
Me too. It gets a solid 7.5/10 from me. I had good fun playing Warlords.

In many ways its worse, i played through all of wod and my class was a lot more enjoyable to play, no borrowed power or ap /anima grind.
Also the theme of wod was a lot more enjoyable than this sylvanas fanfiction we are currently suffering through.
It’s funny how some of you guys are more stressed about sub number than Blizzard.

First expansion where the theme alone is making me not play, doesnt feel like warcraft at all
