(SORT OF BACK ON TRACK?!): "The Mana War" - full scale RP PVE campaign

Somewhere near Zandalar on a tall, spike bearing metal-hulled ship…

“Want to run that by me again, CAPTAIN?”

“Sir, I-” The old sea dog was slammed back into the chair by a rough tauren arm tugging the orc’s right shoulder from behind. Slowly the tall figure paced around the back of the chair while the Centurion spoke, each hoofstep pronounced with a distinct clap against the wooden deck.

“Let me ask you something, old man,” the grizzled dark-skinned orc continued. Though he was Dragonmaw by blood, he spoke calmly; frighteningly so. “How many men were on night shift on the lower two decks?”

The old sea dog swallowed, another drop of sweat running down his rugged green skin.

“HOW MANY!?” the Dragonmaw slammed both gauntlets on the captain’s table, which cracked audibly.

“Th-thirty nine, sir!” Captain Wavecrusher stuttered out loud.

“Tell me,” Centurion Hellfire continued in a serene yet distinctly firm tone as he reached for the windforged rapier on the table, calmly running one gauntlet down the length of the blade as he continued his inquiry. “How many of the crew were found dead this morning?”

“F-Fourteen,” the captain stuttered nervously as he felt a tauren hand weigh down each of his shoulders.

The Centurion shot the captain a glance while the thumb of his gauntlet ran across the tip of the windsteel rapier in his hands.

“Sir,”" the sea dog added.

“There’s no need for you to be nervous, Gorkul. We are on the same side here, are we not?”

The old orc nodded a little.

“But, let us not get sidetracked here,” he guided the conversation back on topic. “How many prisoners do we still have on board?”

The old orc hesitated to answer.

“HOW,” Centurion Hellfire glared at Gorkul, “MANY!?”

The captain winced as the thorium gauntlet drove another deep crack through the table. Just as he was about to respond, he felt the tauren’s arms add weight to his old shoulders.

“ANSWER THE QUESTION, WAVECRUSHER, OR BY MY AXE I WILL TEST YOUR NAMESAKE AS A FIGUREHEAD,” the Dragonmaw Centurion practically spat into the greenskin’s rugged face.

“NONE,” Wavecrusher pathetically winced.

The Centurion looked at the terrified old man for a time, then straightened his posture, maintaining an ever constant glare upon the captain of the ship.

“So to sum things up,” the Centurion regained his composure, “out of thirty-nine men, we have lost fourteen, one of which was practically a walking armor, and three of which guarded the brig - a massive brig by all means - overflowing with mages and secured with both an anti-magic field and a mana-burning field. From this brig we’ve been deprived of every. Single. Prisoner,” he summarizes testingly beating the windsteel rapier against his open gauntlet.

The captain swallowed.

“And I am to believe that.”

“A-aye, sir.”

The Centurion sighed. “Gorkul, Gorkul, Gorkul… I am a very generous orc,” he went on to say. “But there is one thing I cannot abide by. Can you tell me what it is?”

“Sir, I- I’m not a traitor sir,” the old orc stammered. “I’ve done more than enough to prove my loyalty to the Fang! I-”

“Two things,” blood spurted across the table as the Centurion corrected himself. “The other thing is failure,” he continued talking to the sea dog’s head as it rolled across the furry carpet. The tauren slowly let go of the greenskin’s shoulders as he stood by.

“What a curious weapon,” the Centurion remarked condescendingly as he returned it to the broken table. “You’ve just been promoted captain, Blackmane,” he remarked to the tauren. “Congratulations,” the tauren saluted without a single word.

“Oh, and,” the Dragonmaw remarked on his way out, “show the former captain’s head around,” he gestured at the head in the corner of the cabin, “let the crew know that I won’t tolerate any further failures.”

Hello gamers!

Been a while! It’s your girl Kaitylinn, back at it again with an update nobody asked for!

Unfortunately, as I mentioned in a previous post, we weren’t able to run the Mana War as a full scale campaign due to a lack of available DM’s - which isn’t at all to say that nobody stepped forth to volunteer as a DM (many people did, and I can’t thank them enough for all their support!), there just weren’t enough of us to pull it off in a way that’d give our attendees the best possible experience, without overloading the DMs we did have with far too many players to handle each event! ;-;

However, after a lot of discussion and some tweaking, I’m proud to announce the Mana War is risen from the grave and back on track -sort of!

Rather than a two week long intensive campaign as originally planned for, we’re now running it as a sort of drop-in drop-out story line running every Sunday - where I’ll be dropping in to Ratchet (quite literally, from the sky, as is usual for Kaitylinn) to run a Mana War related event for whoever signs up! A bit less intense, but given the current state of the game, hopefully the next best alternative =)

Essentially, every Sunday at about 20:30 realm time, Kaitylinn will land in Ratchet with a new mana war related adventure for up to 15 people at a time, each one slowly progressing the story line over the course of a few months - though people are of course welcome to run their own content in between !

So, if you’re ever at a loss for something to do on Sunday evening; feel free to come along for an event - the plot is pretty self explanatory so you should be able to catch up if you miss a few weeks! If you’d like to take part, feel free to join the discord; I’ll be announcing events there for people to sign up to as and when they please :’ )

Hope to see you around gamers; and hopefully this will be something to tide us all over to the next expac, when there’ll finally be enough gamers back around to run proper campaigns again, right?!

As I type, tonight’s heroes have just NARROWLY avoided being flattened by a train, and are now infiltrating a giant badguy factory, where thousands of innocent mana users are being ground down into paste- and reprocessed into all kinds of diabolical mana fuelled monsters!

If you want to get involved in the Mana War, we’re running an event every Sunday for the forseeable future - starting in Ratchet at 20:30, and open to all who wish to take part!

i wonder: when does kaity makes her events now?

Aaah! Well, it used to be twice - sometimes 3 times - a week, because honestly if I’m not DMing I dont know what to do with myself!

Sadly though for about a month that’s shot right down to 0 times a week, because my new job is absolutely kicking me to the curb - case in point, I didn’t sleep last night because I did’nt have the time with everything that needed doing!

BUT! Hopefully work will calm down in about 2 weeks, so by then I should be back to my regularly scheduled routine of Sundays and Thursdays =)

…assuming I can find anyone to come
