Stake Your Claim with Housing Early Access and Come Home 3 December!

purchase a house

How much ??

This is really great! My friends and I cannot wait to jump into our new Neighbourhood.

Although the wording has me a bit worried. Can you clarify whether Private Charter Neighbourhoods will be available on Early Access on the 3rd of December?

In our case, we have two smaller tight-nit guilds joining together in the communal effort, and thus we naturally seek to create a Private Neighbourhood Charter to accommodate for both Guild’s members.

Hah! I liked your idea. Yeah I dont fan orc’s house. I wanted more troll’s house.

But I will try hide with jungle’s trees. Trolls are love jungle things.

On the Beta, a plot is 1,000g
The housing items vary in price (and currency). You have a starter pack, but it does look a bit bare.
I intended to only spend a few hours building one, as I looked for the items I wanted, but ended up spending hours (and over 30K in gold as I changed my mind so much - initially there were no item previews so figuring out what that tiny square would look like was hard).

You also get “house XP” - mainly from the endeavours they mentioned which are neighbourhood contribution events/quests (they haven’t been active the times I was on) - but also from things like the first time you buy/craft an item (though this was bugged on beta). The more XP the more rooms, and types of rooms, you get. For instance at Level 3, you get a “skybox” room, which can be a conservatory or greenhouse, or whatever you can create with a glass-walled room.

Edit: we didn’t have access to the Night Elf model homes yet, so this was my Nelf Home

What are you classing as “at least 10 active players” for the guild neighbourhood requirement?

Characters? or Individual accounts(regardless of if they are grouped under a single bnet or not)? Or individual battle.net accounts? or… ?

Sadly not ‘characters’ for sure.
But yeah, good question whether it’s accounts or bnet accounts. If I were to venture a guess, I’d say just accounts.

Can I make my own neighbourhood and live in peace and quiet or am I going to be forced to share it? Coz if I have to have neigbours like IRL, then I am NOT interested in this content. Especially since some plots will always be claimed for being the best or whatever.

You can only create your own personal neighbourhood when you have 10 active subscriptions.
This is to prevent an exorbitant flood of neighbourhood instances.

Getting the plot of your desire will not be a problem, as Tah mentioned in another thread:

If the spot you want is taken in a public neighbourhood, you can just talk to an NPC and he gives you the option to look at other neighbourhoods; so you can just browse those and find one that has the plot open that you want.
You can then just click the map, teleport to that exact spot and buy it.
Trust me; getting the plot you want is not going to be an issue at all.

This will not be an issue.

Also there will be plots far away from other players so you will not have any direct neighbours.

This feels like just another trick to make people pre-purchase the expansion. FOMO for the best plots being gone if you wait until March when the expansion goes live.

This isn’t happening. You can get any plot at any time.
Now, the only time when this is not the case is if you are planning to join a guild or private neighbourhood. There the plots are limited and gone is gone. But for public neighbourhoods, getting the plot you want is never going to be a problem.

That’s not to say there isn’t a psychological effect behind it. I’m sure there’s people who think they’ll be ‘behind’ if they don’t have the early access. But since housing is cosmetic only, being behind really doesn’t matter of course.

Please bring back garrison instead of Sims

Garrison cool fortress horde base you are the king. I have a house already no need to roleplay. Unless you make this feature for homeless people its hardly RPG.

love Garrison and being King.

That would fix the issue. I will wait and see. Thanks for the information!

I wont touch housing. Can’t be bothered. Meaningless content

Or wait. Maybe i will just to get a desired plot and sell it for tons of gold

I tried on Beta too. I don’t think its too shabby considering they had twenty years of errors from other franchised they could learn from and skip. My only reservations is the sorting of the items which is a bit of a problem.

As usual their one is a half baked UI and you need to go sifting and searching to find what you actually want. Would be nice if it could be categorized nicely into item type and factions too. Tool tip should be updated to say what is outdoor and what is indoor but by the looks of it their are no restrictions at the moment. You want a fountain indoors you can have one.

I can actually see someone creating and entire addon around this - assuming it would be allowed.

My other problem, though it is personal and it was an assumption on my part, is that you have to buy multiple of the same items. Just a tip don’t go overboard. I assumed the paving would be one stone so I bought 200 and as it turns out I only needed about 6 to lay a path.

Lets hope its really ready by the 3rd.

Lets hope it doesn’t break the rest of the game.

Let’s not expect miracles.

I assume that housing becomes available at normal reset time?

Even with Guild Neighbourhoods the Guild Master can spin up another instance as the first one fills up, though you won’t see other guild members there. Not sure how many active accounts we have, but with many altoholics the roster has to be cleared down of absentees every year to create places for new raiders.

Our GM has been using WoWAudit’s plot reservation tool to allow guild members to specify their preferences for up to three plots in advance. We’re a long running raiding guild, since Vanilla beta, and most players are, and act like, adults, which helps. Though there’s nothing to stop someone claiming the “wrong” plot on go-live, there will be social pressure if you don’t. I doubt it will go as far as a /gkick, but certainly a demotion to A** rank is possible!
