I wasn’t. I just decided I don’t care

I actually think Anime is a vastly underappreciated artform, What can take an actor ten seconds to have recorded in a single cut, could take tens of hours to illustrate. Big fan of Graphic novels, By that I mean illustrated, not Graphic in their content you mucky pups…

Nowadays, anime is supposedly something different. A friend of mine doesn’t even watch ‘normal’ western movies or shows anymore. He even decided to enroll for Japanese studies as his major a few years ago because he thought that Japan was so interesting.

To be honest, I’ve never gotten into anime at all, I gave it a chance but I just find it… awkward?

That’s true, thankfully our friends at Disney and DreamWorks also create great animation-based movies and shows, such as Wallace and Gromit, which is truly a work of art.

Some of the most beautiful I always remember are ‘The Sandman’ by Neil Gaiman, the art varied wildly, but the story spanned everything, also ‘Hellblazer’ the original John Constantine stories, and ‘Enemy Ace’ about a fictional German WWI fighter pilot, the painting was heartbreakingly beautiful, and the story so poignant.

I really enjoy many aspects that are popular in Anime. For example, in Bleach, they way the opponents talk to each other even during the combat itself somehow makes the fights more dynamic and scary. Under different circumstances I would probably find it boring.

I think that is the joy of living in our modern age, we are truly living in the best of times, we are at the forefront of all human endeavour we will ever know, and the things that can be done are simply astounding. I remember reading Sci-Fi books as a child, and whilst we don’t have personal jet-packs, or flying cars, things like 3-D printers have become a reality, even things many take for granted, like, why, like this conversation, which is happening in (relatively) real time. I’d wager many in this thread are not from the UK, such a conversation would have been unimaginable when I was growing up.

I mean I have an iPod, the size of a British postal stamp more or less, and it holds tens, twenties of times more music than what I grew up with. We had clunky bricks clipped to our belts, with outsized headphones, and if you stumbled down the curb, your music would judder, or worse, the tape would go wrong and start chewing itself up. iPods are amazing to me, WoW is still amazing to me. I tell you, I don’t miss having to fix my music collection by taking out a bloody pencil…

I wanted to ask if you remember what pencil was used for and then I read the last sentence

Now I have started to listen to all the old music of my youth! It will be your fault, when I wake up tired and exhausted after having moshed my night away…

Ah, very understandable.

Still, if you do decide to post it, be sure to share it with us

But on topic, just yesterday in RP a friend of my character was asked to leave a pandaren restaurant for calling Void Elves “unnatural abominations” in a private conversation.

The only conclusion that makes sense: They are already using their void stuff to control the population! We will all be thralls soon!

My Argent Dawn Void elf roleplaying friend says they are hanging void elves from lamp posts on that fine realm. That’s my rogue, by the way.

I guess german role-players are just more squeamish about taking the in-character racism that far. Apart from a bit of criminal RP the highlight of our anti-velf-campaign was a sermon against them in the cathedral… and the preacher was arrested afterwards for threatening the peace, or something…

Sad days. No wonder I’m eyeing classic-RP!

Meanwhile, Argent Dawn had massive riots which ended in all void elves being banished from the city. They do love their drama.

Uhm, considering that Aldor used to host one of the bigger Scarlet guilds between wotlk and cataclysm, I am surprised, there hasn’t been any “Purge the Void People!” plot yet taking in Stormwind.
