I am a huge fan of classic and what they have done by bringing them back, but I don’t think the two versions of the game should be linked in any way. At least not anything that require any investment in the version you’re not interested in.
Even the promotional “make a DK and get a mount in retail” was borderline for me. Even if it only took a few minutes to complete, I got rewarded in retail for something i did in classic.
Keep them separate. By all means, bring back old removed items and cosmetics, but make them earn-able in retail instead.
I would do that if that were a thing, but tell me what:
I want Atiesh - where do I get 39ppl to gear in MC-BWL-AQ (which will take months) and then raid with me for weeks, so I can get it?
I got Atiesh - how do you force me to keep playing, so other people can get it as well?
Suddenly - we all want Atiesh. How do you force people to play smth besides priest/mage/lock/druid, because you actually need other classes to be able to play the game?
Keep in mind, that people, who only play Classic, cba about having such items in Retail. People, who play Retail, need to do weekly keys, raids, delves, PvP, local quests and other “not required” things - how do they find time to play Classic for months only for a small chance to get smth they want?
As soon as you give us any feasible options for all of the above - we can talk about linking classic and retail =)
I wonder what your reaction would be, if Blizzard agreed with you, scaled previous content as if it was current season and removed all appearance, achievements and mounts that was obtained through level scaling solo runs.
I think it would delete 80% of most player’s collections.
My apologies. I assumed that you want the process to be fair where if I had to spend 10 hours to get A, then you would also have to spend 10 hours to get A.
Instead, you want people to obtain all HoF, FoS, all existing collectibles by logging in? That sounds fair.
Again, it’s easy to say “unfair”, when maybe 1 or 2 percent of all collectibles are being locked away permanently, yet the fact is, for everything that is at least 3-4 years old, you need a fraction of the effort/time to obtain them.
You just want the cake and eat it too. I have little patience for such petty views.
But the classic stats are high, and some play both. There is no reason not to link them a little bit in my opinion. Appealing to collectors, that need really everything is not something I think is sensible. I also think that SoD players should have received a lvl 70 boost in retail too, not just MoP Classic
I don’t think we have the same definition of “forcing”
Also, every season in wow has tons of fomo rewards. Are collectors forced to get the triple threat achievement? No. Are they forced to get gladiator? No, they can just not get it. Having a full collection makes collections boring, it’s better if many ppl have an incomplete one that reflects them as a player.
If you want to earn things for Retail, you play Retail. Blizzard also said all the way back when releasing Classic originally that they would never merge progress between Classic and Retail. Especially due to the fact that it would make stuff like Scarab Lord, Ashbringers, Etc. on retail even less unique, since people could easily farm them in Classic after having 15 years of experience from Private Servers.
as I said idea is mop +, also scarab lord was first person per server as I remember, so no.
Beside that I’m against returning old items, I’m just suggesting only fair way to bring it back if so
