Suggestion: Rename some specs

Then you know nothing about shamanism. Rain dancing is an ancient shamanistic ritual, and OP’s suggestion to turn Restoration into a rain dancer is really cool and unique. It’s a way cooler fantasy than having “restoration shaman restoration druid holy paladin holy priest” :face_vomiting: It’s weird, that they kept the spec identities since the beginning of wow. It’s as if they are allergic to innovating their game, and taking some risks

Yeah, but ingame shamans are nothing like it. We don’t see them dance to make rain, we see them speaking to ghosts or getting high on fumes to talk to them. … None of the abilities shamans have show any connection to dancing… that’s what I meant.

I think rain dancer is ok as it is a thing shamans did/do

 i don’t know the name of the spec is very little detail for me to care
it has no impact on how the spec or class is played
so i don’t really care but everything you mentioned sound worse then original ones so i think blizzard knows why this specs are called like that

That would be nitpicking.

Rain dancer and mist soothin :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
When the obvious choice is hydromancer, lmao

I thought both were the same

Unless you are partially blind you can see the Green freaking Cross that means HEALER

This thread shouldn’t exist.

I identify as a Hawkeye Hunter. If I had an outlaw rogue he’d be uhm… hospitaller huh… Pistolliero rogue. Don’t forget Witherer Death Knight or Pyrotechnics Mage.

Jokings aside, good idea but I don’t think it will float on the current state of the game.

That’s the freaking same just adding master… Lol

Ingame shamans doesn’t need to be 1:1 replica on real life shamans though. They might share some characteristics, but seems like rain dancin’ isn’t one of them. Edgy elf has a point here.

“Rain dancer” would work if we had ingame examples of this happening or being part of their lore visibly. Calling the elements via unknown shamanistic powers is their version of rain dancing. Trolls do dance, but I think mostly because they’re high, not because they’re casting healing rain.

Thing is, in the lore both Fire and Frost magic used by mages are based on Arcane rather than the shamanistic kind of elemental magic. So, yeah, all of the amges are Arcane mages. The Arcane spell itself could use a rename if that is the angle you consider.

So the propper name would be Arcane (Arcanic?) Fire/frost right? Arcane ofc remain arcane.

Blizz scuffed it a bit with the world building when setting up te rules on how magic worked in it. Water elemental exists for Mages (due to WC3) but i bet there i some wishy washy explanation as to why they have that, wild guess arcane familiar inside a body of water?

Anyway i doubt that was his reasoning for the name change.

If I remember right, the water elementals mages use are conjured water.

And thats diffrent from the water mages conjure to drink? Are we drinking living water? Oo

I really like this idea. Especially because it would make the names more unique.

What I would love to see if it was added is that you will then be able to see only the name of their spec in one’s tooltip.

So instead of seeing “X, Druid” and “Y, Shaman” or if you have an AddOn that shows specs in the tooltip “X, Restoration Druid” and “Y, Restoration Shaman”, you would see for example “X, Emerald Lifekeeper” and “Y, Raincaller”

They also have a melee and a ranged spec. But thanks for the deep insight.
