Legion version of survival was so fun! Would love to see the return of the that version of Mongoose Bite and Flanking strike. Remove Kill Command from survival hunter, and tune down the bomb extravaganza! Serpent Sting baseline and a melee version of Kill Shot.
SV only needed to get rid of Way of the Mok’nathal and the playsytle would have been infinitely better. It was largely due to that and using Caltrops in the rotation that made it feel like you were spinning plates. Also I made the suggestion numerous times that Lacerate should have been baked into Raptor Strike.
Knowing how fickle wow players are they most likely did say they’d quit, but never did and either stuck with sv(because it’s actually fun now) or changed spec to mm or bm, or to another class.
Another sure fire way of knowing this is greed, if a big enough % of players had quit the game because of sv change (and hunters is one of the largest groups of players) then blizzard would have changed it back. Because of money.
No Blizz don’t do reverts. They also pissed off a large chunk of the Warlock playerbase with their rework which took away Demon form. Never reverted that either despite a huge outcry.
And I just preferred actual melee SV Hunter and that is what Legion iteration was despite its flaws. I played 3 Hunters at max level in Legion and they were all SV.
Again, outcry doesn’t mean they left the game, players are so quick to threaten that they’ll leave the game because of X or Y. There’s like 2-3 posts in general about this every day… But they never do.
Also for every 1 loud player that cries about X or Y, there’s another 10+ that likes or don’t care about the change but don’t voice it, because they are too busy playing and enjoying the game.
You can’t base it on the loud minority, because people very rarely come and say something when they are happy. And then on top of it all majority of players never ever come and visit the forums. At most they’ll come here when they have a technical problem with the game.
Dude’s an autist (said so himself, this is not an insult) with a hard on for hating melee sv players (also his words). A lot of his rambles are just straight up delusions
Wouldn’t mind playing it now mm is one of the worst raid specs
I’m bm but sometimes i just wanne play another hunter spec to see if i would like it and try different builds
I’m not a fan of surv But if it hits hard and its good for raid i try it
I like my SV hunter. I’m currently at 2.4k RIO and that’s from running my keys, as I get overlooked at keys I outrank iLvl wise.
I sometimes just wonder why I don’t just slap a bow on and go BM instead, for minimal effort and maximal pewpew (simplified, don’t @ me) whenever I burst my behind off only to fall down so freakin’ low on the pewpew meter. :<
I’ve also noticed significant struggles to keep up with the “top” dogs (coughDHs, rets, BMs and locks mainlycough) in keys 20+. It’s sometimes a gap of around 150-200k difference (overall dps throughout the dungeon) and it is confidence shattering, lmao.
According to my experience (the same, like on this warrior), surv does good dps on lower keys, but met problems with survivability, especially on bosses like yazma, third boss in fall
But anyway, most of warriors I met as surv I have outdamaged even with lower gear )
SoD introduced dual wield melee hunters with this:
[Dual Wield Specialization]
Increases the damage done by your offhand weapon by 50%, causes your Raptor Strike to strike with both weapons when you are dual-wielding, and Raptor Strike deals 30% increased damage when you are wielding two weapons of the same type.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have it as a choice node next to mongoose bite for retail sv as well?
Anything to move away from the pet-centric playstyle with Kill Command and the like. The pet should still serve a purpose like MM but you shouldn’t have to rely so heavily on it like SV does currently. I know how much you liked Legion SV - I remember the discussions we had on the forums back then. I would give anything to return to that playstyle without the issues of Caltrops, Explosive Trap, Way of the Mok’nathal and Dragonsfire Grenade being part of the damage rotation.
If you claimed BM had no issues keeping up dps wise I couldn’t disagree, but survival?
Yes, SV can pump out mad dps, but would we top anything when the other better dps folks are around? If they’re bad, and probably not even then. At least we’re not MM or affli tier bad. There’s always that? (sorry you guys! I had to take a jab at y’all! )
However Hunter survival is just laughable. AotT hardly works most of the time and SotF has a far too insanely long CD, even if the defensive is great in general. Beside the measly heal we’ve got that’s pretty much it. And THAT is sad considering all the one shots flying about in M+
