Like brilho said. Your reputation is tainted for life whether you are proved innocent or not.
And like I said, itâs not a culture I partake in nor do want to see fester, but maintaining a culture where legitimate abuse is not brought to light is equally destructive.
Hence why I refrain from taking a definitive side one way or another.
You only needed to read a few posts to get the context of what the thread is about.
This I can understand.
Girls. More than one.
Well thatâs the point. If there was abuse, itâs better you donât talk to the other side and go right away to the authorities. If itâs made up, well⊠better be save and involve the authorities to protect yourself from the accusations. Rather reasonable I guess most people could agree with you there.
This can be very tricky. Especially in r*** cases. Evidence doesnât hold up for that long. Itâs not easy at all.
I can understand defending someone and sometimes itâs he right thing to do. But the line is often not so clear, especially if you donât really know either person. Just a as a last point.
As said before, you seem reasonable
People like you are the reason why people hardly come forward.
issues have to be solved by:
-the parties involved
-the community
-the justice system
NOT the public square of opinions.
To be fair Brilho, âthe communityâ is the public square of opinions. But I would agree that the parties involved and the justice system is how it should be solved.
I have something general to say about the whole topic, not about Swifty specificly.
Please remember that manipulation and abuse is hidden by design, no perpetrator wants to be found out. These cases donât happen out in the open, itâs things like fans being invited to afterparties and cornered alone in a room. Spiked drinks, things of that nature. The biggest weapon abusive people always have is âno one saw it happen so itâs your word against mineâ.
Please, as fellow human beings, think of what you said here next time something like this happens to someone close to you. You wouldnât want everyone to doubt them and try to silence them, just because theyâre hurt that they didnât know their favourite media personality could do harm. Itâs more widespread than you think, almost everyone has a story like this. Heartbreakingly, itâs almost a norm.
Anyone whoâs a fan of any of the people involved, please remember youâve done nothing wrong. You were lied to by someone you looked up to, and that sucks. Any human would feel defensive after hearing about it all, but realise weâre not defending the fallen idols, weâre defending ourselves. Because we feel hurt that people who did good things and we looked up to, could stoop so low. It feels like an attack on our own judgement, but itâs not. Life isnât black and white, bad people can do good things.
Unless theres evidence I could never imagine someone the likes of Swifty doing anything of that sort with how much of an active person he was to the community whether it be on twitch or youtube. Its a shame to hear that the gaming community has randomly decided to go on a witch hunt and people are just pointing fingers and rolling with it.
Is this argument still going on?
I donât even have a problem with women pointing out alleged abusers and all this kinds of thing, but the way this goes on the twitter world and immediatly into the world for everyone to see is just shoking man
5 minutes ago i didnât know who swifty is but now Iâve read a whole exposĂ© on all his mannerisms and character. Creepy.
20 years ago this couldâve been just a story that the woman would tell her social circle, and then her social circle would tell the allegations to swiftys social circle and then that wouldâve been the end of it, the social consequences would have been enacted by every party accordingly
Now the whole world is involved in this. I think this whole #metoo thing + the #whosaidsomethingracistintheirlives thing will at some point lead to a renaissance of everyone completely shutting down every social media they have
I hate to be the one to bring this up but a lot of people said this sort of thing about others too.
The fact that these people are âfamousâ or well known or active in the community etc is what stops some of these things being brought to light.
At least one of the accusations against Swifty goes back to 2015!
I have edited out the name I had originally put as it seems some people cannot cope with this and that is fine. The point still stands that just because they âseem to be a pillar of the communityâ and a ânice guyâ and âdo a lot for the communityâ doesnât mean that they cannot also be a predator too.
I have also done some âresearchâ on this person and whilst I do not know nor wish to state that he is either guilty or innocent the matter needs looking into.
Whether its true or not its just a very bold statement given that the entire world can see it too, would be cool for atleast some evidence to surface to back some of these claims given we live in a day and age where one statement is enough to permanently do damage to your appearance and everything in the future you apply to do etc. And I hate to be that guy but now seems like the perfect opportunity for people do go around and blindly point figures to do some damage .
Blizzard did it ârandomâ. No.
Well theres the âevidenceâ to support it was justified rather than randomly jumping onto one side and playing it safe then? Cause it seems their just doing it to save the skin off their own back. --Iâm all for it and im going to continue playing devils advocate and keep saying that theres 100% bound to be atleast some people who are going to use this period of time as a means of feeling destructive.
Your feelings donât matter in this case.
Blizzard are doing damage control so that the public doesnât turn on them accuse them of supporting Swifty during this time by keeping his NPC character in game, its merely protecting themselves regardless of the outcome is. After all of the recent events with Blizzard Iâm not surprised that they took this action very early on.
I had a a younger brother - he was everything to me. Weâd seen some pretty horrific stuff as kids along with our 3 other siblings.
We did so much together, he was the kindest sweetest person. We told each other everything.
Then one day my daughter told me he had tried to assualt her⊠it turned out to be true and he was locked up.
Doesnât matter what they look like, how kind they are - even who they are. Itâs whatâs going on, on the inside that matters.
I suffered for many years at the hands of someone in my younger years. These people they are very smart, and know exactly what they are doing.
Iâm not saying that Swifty did it, but I am saying you never know until itâs checked out. The outside means nothing.
gacy taught us thatâŠ
âŠalso, hope you are in a better place nowâŠ
And this is very true.
While we donât know what is true in this particular scenario people still have the imagination that those with predatory behaviours only come from certain walks of life or have certain personality traits when they could be anyone from any walk of life.
