Consumers are what is driving corporate finances mid-term. Look at Ubisoft and EA. They have gone under massive turbulence lately due to not enough people buying their games. What you probably mean is âactivist shareholdersâ, which is a different can of worms, and their influence usually doesnât last long, if their ideas lead to failure in the market.
People are definitely not more prude in western countries. That is not true at all. What youâre describing here is just an echo of a short time period, where some people on the internet were very angry on social media about body image and beauty standards. To some degree it may have been justified, but it was massively and excessively over-corrected by corporations. Now this type of stuff is already over, because the market has responded accordingly
It is, isnât it.
But then again, a BIG part of america is ultra prudish and itâs baked even into modern society there by their 1950âs sensibilities. That country wants to be stuck in the past, so bad (not everyone, obviously).
I know thatâs how it is but it honestly shouldnât be like that
Itâs still blizzards game if they want to make assets to promote that cool but after the promotion they should be forced to give the.stuff to blizzard or they shouldnât be allowed to do there own stuff at all.
I know that whole neteasy thing is a government thing cause China has a control kink but this just sucks.
As I have said, institutional shareholders, which have been pushing for social change for at least the last 15-20 years now. Due to how out in the open the problem has become during the last few years they are currently looking to rebrand the effort, but this is not going to stop anytime soon. Even with financial concerns going on, Ubisoft has still managed to double down on aggressively subpar products.
And you will find that while individual studios will be going under when their products fail, corporations can and will still manage to survive just fine.
As for people being more prude, itâs a strange phenomenon where weird fetishes are being pushed, but regular old nudity is being seen as bad. Iâd still say this counts as prude when itâs no longer OK to show naked people or say naughty words, but Iâll agree to disagree.
Barking up the wrong tree. Itâs not the 1990s anymore, that part of America isnât whatâs causing the problems. Itâs the progressive coastal regions that spoil the fun these days,
EU follows US though. We used to be different, like in the mid to late 1900s we used to be much more fun and relaxed compared to the conservatively puritanical USA, but these days the puritanism is being mandated by the same progressive ideologies that we basically invented. So yes, we absolutely do follow this trend.
Iâm not holding my breath to be honest. The market wonât correct itself if the market is rigged. Iâll gladly eat my own words if you are correct, but after almost 2 decades of the market not correcting itself and still doubling down I have become too cynical to still believe in that.
And I donât confuse how most people are, most people will just keep their heads down and go along with whatever theyâre being told is right. But yeah, I will agree to disagree with you on these points. As I have said, I have become far too cynical after seeing what social media and corporate messaging has done to the minds of people.
2 decades? That only happened since 2018 roughly imo. Before that everything was fine in that regard. Another thing that also occured in videogames around that period was very greedy monetization. Now stuff is already going back to normal. Have you seen the battlefield 6 trailer? Compare to battlefield 2042. Ea really did a 180 turn I think. Battlefield 6 is the true sequel to battlefield 4
Sorry a bit too off-topic, but I bet in wow it will also go back to Legion-BFA storytelling. It is already in 11.2
You can show the most insane gore - especially against monsters and men, curiously, but half an exposed leg drives them nuts.
And weâre talking like killing a guy in the bad guysâ uniform and making him turn inside out then playing skiprope with his innards. Has anyone played DOOM Eternal? Pick up an enemy and place your hand under his chin, then drive a hidden blade through the entire skull. A-OK.
This transmog? Thatâs going too far!
If they think a woman in a swimsuit is too much for the west, I hope they never go to the beach. Or a public swimming pool really. Thatâs a thing in the US, right? You know, for professional athletes and people wanting to work out?
What do these snowflakes do in such a place? Separate the genders in the actual swimming halls?
EDIT: I should point out that WoW had these things in the past. Powerful women in bikinis? Check. Guys with huge pecs and shoulders wider then his legs were tall? Check. Violence, blood, gore? Check. Check. Check.
the hilarious part was that in the 90s it was the opposite.
For example americans had issue with the violence in dragon ball (Krillin getting drilled by Frieza) and not all the times that little Goku or Bulma flashed at someone.
It all starts because they have a society where people have to be always outraged in the name of a cause.
