So as they seem open to adjusting the PvP gear scaling in 9.1.5 i think they should go whole hog and with 1 minor change solve the boosting problem.
The main reason why people buy boosts (and why boosts are so easy to do for high skilled players) is the gear upgrades. Now you can keep the gear upgrade system, but scale all honour gear to 233 in PvP and all conquest gear to 252 in PvP. Effectively this means that outside PvP duelist gear will still be higher Ilevel that combatant gear BUT in PvP they would be equal. Skilled players will still be able to boost people like they always have done, but the demand for boosts won’t be as high.
This is effectively how PvP gear worked in WoD and I think it would make PvP a better experience for everyone (oneshotting people because you’re 40ilevrls higher than them doesn’t feel very rewarding)
But PvP isn’t really part of the RPG experience in that way.
Plus you still have to get your conquest gear in the first place.
50-60 bategrounds are so much fun because the gear difference is minimal. PvP is less popular than it was back in WoD and Mists so obviously this two tiered system of gearing worked better than what we have now.
numbers are fictive, you can use whatever numbers you want to delete pve gear from pvp.
you don’t need gear advantage, you got mount, mogs and titles, that is enough
I would lean myself here out of the window but assuming that basically nobody who seriously play pvp (or pvp only) gives a damn about rpg or lore lul
Problem is that they don’t want to fix boosting problem. They prefer to profit from it.
Yes boosting existed since TBC, but in past getting gold for it wasn’t that easy. You had to actually earn it and I am sure that most people prefered to not waste it in a boost, when they could achieve it by themselves, even if it required hard working. Also People knew that RMT was a straight ban and they didn’t want to risk, yes it was still used but not in current margain of token usage.
Instead of fightning with gold buyers blizzard introduced 100% legal way of getting a gold with credit card, therefor you can buy any achievement without effort.
Faster action to silence/ban advertisement in LFG. Since its against TOS.
Remove the gear from boosted people.
(Dude went 1500 to 2200 in a few hours and is now hard stuck 1600 while having 15k more hp than anyone in his bracket… HMMM).
People whos MMR/CR regularly pingpong need to be kept an eye on. To see if they are boosting and by doing so breaking the entire point of rated systems.
Loosing vs someone with any bracket of glad, while not even at a challenger MMR, should not lower your rating.
Just as being 1100 and winning with a team mate that is 2100, shouldnt gain you any rating. Untill your MMR/cr is withing like 150 points
I think PvP gearing is fine and the item lvl differences are justified. Honor gear is an outliner and will hopefully be more useful and less difficult to obtain in 9.1.5. Of course low rated players are in the majority and will always try to alter PvP gearing in their favor. This thread isn’t about tackling the boosting problem, but stripping good players off of their achievements. Nice try though.
Allow gear to be grinded so people that play one character alot will progress on that character alot. Doesn’t have to be more complicated than that, IDK why Blizzard thinks that we need some weekly/daily activity hook to keep subscribing to their game.
Can’t really throw a good player off their achievements because it’s about skill and rating not about gear.
I for one prefer this game ALOT more when PVP is about skill and ability to manage your character abilities than having high ilvl and the correct class to dominate with.
