Congratulations!
/salutes fellow tank. Hope you have many pleasant runs.

For my first run if this new expansion I didn’t even get to tank. As I ported in and started to type “hi gu…” I could already see legs running down the corridor. Sent my lumbering bear off after them, and was pretty much just slugging the bosses with the rest of dpsers. And trying to pull the boss off the hunters pet.
Still, got my Tyr quests done so not as bad as some runs eh. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

No thanks.
I had such a terrible time playing a tank so I’ll be avoiding the spec like the plague.

I was willing to learn, but the players expected too much of me right off the bat & got mad.

I wonder if that makes you an entrepreneur of sorts.

I am also healing a lot more than in the past because I know that the tank/healer roles are in demand.

Anyways, it is such a good thing to have a positive story to share in our forum Mordor.

I’ve just started healing on my druid in DF and think I’ll swap over to tanking instead for the ease of it.
Tanks just sprinting along pulling every thing that they can get their hands and just expecting to be kept alive.
No doubt the dudes are using their defensive cooldowns and such but when you have 20 mobs pounding on you, things casting Fear, multiple mobs doing AoE it’s an absolute s**t show for the healer to keep everything going.

Hi,

Well done on tanking the first dungeon. Tanking is super fun and competitive, and I am sure that you’ve done a faboulous job.

But more importantly, your behaviour is the key. The game and dungeons, especially leveling dungeons, are hell because people feel entitled to just go in and start ruining runs for everyone. You decided to at least say its your first dungeon as tank, and what this game needs - especially to counter toxicity - is people like you. If you wouldn’t, I’m sure you would be kicked or flamed, but because you stated this, so did people’s brains and turned into a more positive experience for everyone.

I congratulate you and wish you all the best with tanking, gaming and personal life. It’s people like you that make the game fun and welcoming and social.

I’ve ran a few heroics this evening - all well so far. I haven’t noticed any ramp up in difficulty. DPS still like pounce on top of mobs and charge ahead at times… I’ve eased off caring too much about it though for now and just going with the flow… it’s not really causing many issues at the end of the day. I just hope players stop doing that when it comes to Mythic+ and the pulls will need a more methodical approach…

Got my UI and WAs tracking my CDs and buff uptimes etc setup how I like properly now too!

I’ve backtracked a little in terms of managing pulls and interrupts though as I get to grips with mty buff uptimes and how my abilities all synergise together properly… I suspect it’ll take me a few more days of playing and tweaking a few keybinds before I’m fully confident with that and settled in to a routine of how to play… hopefully by then though I’ll also have geared up enough to start Mythic+!

Is there a point in progression when Retribution Paladins would have to stop “clicking” 1234?

Wow tanking rotation:

  1. Cast “play with friends”
  2. If “play with friends” is on cd, go herbing.

Ive been playing tank alt for quite a bit now. Yeah the dungeons are fine everynow and then but i still can see why people dont want to tank with randoms. And i havent seen flaming personally ever as a tank

Thst could also apply to healing/dps and/or your chosen professions

Daily update on Rebecca learns how to play a tank. #Day2

More heroics done, no issues. Again… they just felt exactly the same as levelling dungeons. Not sure why they exist. I feel like it just adds to ilvl bloat.

Binding Shield of Righteous and Word of Glory to my mouse has made a world of difference. For some reason using keybinds for them alongside my DPS and Interrupt abilities felt really off. Super happy I now start feel more in control of what I’m doing.

However… I also did my first Mythic0! Went smoothly, smaller pulls and things felt more controlled and no DPS rushing off ahead like in Normal/Heroic.

Although I had one incident I got a bit of grief before from people before the last boss though… I tried to pull both the pack on the grass and in front of the door and tank them in that spot so that we wouldn’t pull the patrol. Completely forgetting that to make the pack from the grass actually come over to you they needed to be LoS inside the corridor. By the time I realised though it was too late and someone else got aggro and died… they complained and got a bit rude… they went on my ignore straight away though. Like c’mon, one poorly understood pull right at the every end of the dungeon that otherwise went completely fine?

Got a +2 Ruby Life Pools key now… but I’m probably going to do a few more Mythic0, get some more practice and gear up before heading into Mythic+

Protection Paladin is such a fun class to play.

Same.

/10 char

why is that?
i play 4 tanks and i never got flamed. in fact most people dont say anything.
i could flame all the potato dps that are under me in dps and while i have 60 interupts the rest of the group has a combined 5. but i dont and carry the run. with some tanks that is easier. as pala tank i do the job as healer and tank.

maybe changes at higher keys? my highest is 11 because i m just ilvl 370 or something as nothing drops ever

2 weeks into DF I did the same thing. Leveled a tank for the first time ever and this week I timed everything on +19
