Tendonitis + Self-confidence issues to improve at the game

I don’t want to annoy you with links, but if this is of interest to you, I found this vid which does address this specific point.

No annoyance at all. I’m honestly thankful there’s players around willing to both lend an ear and help however they can.
Giving the video a thorough look.

I’d like to give you an advice to keep in mind concerning both this tier, and the future.

From what I can see this is your first time trying out raids? I would not get too worked up on your performance for a simple reason: You are getting the hang of the mechanics, while you are competing on the meters with those who did more raids than you, are more familiar with the raid mechanics, and thus they know better how and when to use their cooldowns.

Improvement does not come on its own, it comes with repeats. The most important to remember is to always try to get used to the raid mechanics. Pre-plan how you are going to handle a mechanic once you have a hang of what is going to happen. As a warlock you can use your Demonic circle to minimize your movement, and you have soulshape there to have a blink to do the same.

Do not get fooled by the percentages logs give you. Take them as a guide, not as the only thing that matters. Currently, with double affixes can be activated people are playing around these buffs, and that heavily distorts the percentages because there is a lot of log padding going on, not to mention the existence of external buffs can alter the precentages as well.

An initial look on your logs show no major issue for me. One thing I would like to highlight from your raid is that you either did not have a pet out, or your pet was set on passive. That one mistake alone can heavily distort your percentages, and I know that from experience because I also had that issue myself. Before pull always take a look at your pet’s skill bar to see if he is set on assist/aggressive.

The rest will come on its own, but I personally can recommend to look out for opportunities where you can utilize the toolkit of your spec to gain more out of a fight. This can be small things, like using havoc on an add that dies fast, but you still do so to get that extra bit of soul shard fragment, or delaying your infernal by a few seconds to help out with cleaving down adds that are about to spawn.

As to this tier I say do not worry about your performance. If you like playing warlock then keep on playing with it, practise, get the feel of your rotation and your niche out. When you have the muscle memory set in then getting the hang of the rotational changes that the new talent tree brings is going to be faster.

If you feel like you have questions concerning rotations and tactics for specific feel free to add me on Bnet: Athiyk#2280.

I always try to remember to have the pet out. Yesterday especially it was pretty random, because the pet would not even attack sometimes even if I had it out of passive mode. Now I’m really concerned about that, because I don’t ever know when my imp is going to say “Nope, not attacking.” and I might be too engrossed in the fight to notice.

I usually don’t notice whether the class I’m playing is the right one for me, or I may have some sort of glass ceiling for the spec’s finer points until I’ve spent a good while playing the class over and over.
I understand when people tell newer or dubious players to play the class/spec that they want to, but it’s a different matter if it takes an unreasonable amount of time to realize that the player may do better with another class, or that they just can’t play the class to the fullest. It’s probably that because any progress at all that I make is too slow, or too small that I’m not aware of it at all.

Personally id say its worth taking a step back and deciding if you think its worth learning your class. I pick up classes pretty quickly but despite how far ahead i am in dps or what challenges i do i dont think im good enough(and thats where my low self-esteem and confidence comes into play), theres a few classes i know im terrible at so it might be worth seeing if theres another class you enjoy and eventually everything might just click into place.

There are a few encounters and bosses where the pet just bugs out, Sylvanas phase two being a part where the pet often stay idle (double so since Fated raids came in by the looks of it).

In case you are using control shotcuts you may be using a combination that puts the pet on passive? And just to be sure make sure that his firebolt is set to auto-cast, otherwise he will just stand there like a potato.

As to about class performance I am not sure what I can say to help put your mind at ease. When I begin playing mage (fire in particular) it took me two raid tiers to get to the point where I was consistent with my combustions during BFA. Other then Destro the only other spec I know which is about the same level of difficulty is BM hunter.

I think what you need is to try to do is to find a spec that plays right for you, not necessarily one that performs really good. Finding enjoyment in the flow of the spec helps you learn its nuances faster. In your case, I think it is your lack of confidence in your spec knowledge gets bundled together with the mechanic bloat in raids. That is something that goes away with practise.

Also keep in mind that there is nothing wrong with not being able to maximize a class to its fullest. Heroic is designed to be lenient enough to allow for a multitude of mistakes to be made (which people will do, even the best of players).

If you aren’t feeling confident that warlock may be the spec for you, then I recommend checking out some of the other specs which have rotations not too rough on your Tendonitis. BM hunter I know is a pretty good, beginner friendly spec which has no hard casts, so it is easier for you to respond to mechanics while still being able to DPS, which for a hardcaster like Destro comes at a hefty price.

i dont use raidbots anymore i did back in legion, but iirc it factorizes bloodlust and buffs. if youre not using them 85% is totally fine

if u want we could have an ingame chat about warlocks and check what ure doing. we could have a dungeon, or just an interactive chat.
