Which would do pretty much nothing. They would only have to pay for the violation occurring in Japan. And it is a similar case to what would happen in the US (its what assumed that Palworld is going for against Nintendo) and have the patent revoked because Japan is even more prone to granting patents without properly checking them and having patents revoked is also common over there.
Nintendos japanese patents hold no power outside Japans borders (and this goes for every patent in general).
Not to mention that getting on Microsofts bad side is totally gonna be a smart move for every other market in the world.
No. Thatâs not how thing works. They canât sue Blizzard in Japan because Blizzard doesnât operate in Japan. There is no Japanese version of WOW. So, they canât claim their patents have been infringed. The only reason that Nintendo is allowed to sue Palworld in Japan is because first of all Palworld development company is Japanese, and second, the game is distributed in Japan. But something done from an American company in game distribued all over the world except Japan? Nop. In that case Nintendo canât do anything. Blizzard could outragely declared he is using everything patented by Nintendo exactly as they claim and still Nintendo wonât be able to sue them
I know they wonât go againts Microsoft. I know they only Palword becuase they know Jpanese courts will let them win. But that it irrelevant. If instead of Microsfot the battle pets minigame were in an indie game by an American company who only distribute the game in Europe, Russia, USA, Korea, Taiwan and China⌠Nintendo wonât be able to sue that company.
Because to sue a company the first thing they need to have is a valid legal argument, in any court of the world, and claiming that an American company who dosnât operate in Japan is vulnerating Japaneses patentsâŚit is not a valid legal argument. Japense patents only work inside Japan
It is only valid for Palworld because the company is Japaneses and the game is distributed in Japan
That is yet to see. Given Sony launched Palworld on the PS5 despite the ongoing lawsuit means that Sony will be involved in the lawsuit in one way or another. Microsoft is also interested in keeping Palworld afloat.
This is one of the reasons why people assume they will attempt to have Nintendos patent revoked and Sony in the very least is also a Japanese company and bigger in Japan (which is relevant for the japanese court system)
They sued Palworld in Japan because its the only place where they COULD win as they would lose by default in every european country and face microsoft in the US.
agreed and iirc in most recent history nintendo and microsoft have been on good terms . there is also an agreement to bring cod to nintendo switch 2 for next 10 years atleast
The traps used in the pet battles are literaly a box and a stick holding one side of it up.
Its nothing like palworld or pokemon âŚdo us all a solid and dont post nonsense about other games on other platforms on a warcraft forumâŚ
The pet battle system predates palworld literally by years ok so no its not similar if anything palworld may have borrowed from wows idea pool⌠also pet battles give players a reason to own pets aside from them following you round doing nothing.
