Obviously the title is ironic and I don’t want to offend anyone, but I’d like to understand the excitement many warlocks have over certain attacks that require a long setup and cast time, like the 6 million crit Infernal Bolt… when all the other players produce a much higher amount of devastating, instant, constant damage.
Did you do 6-7 million damage with an Infernal Bolt in PvP? Great, too bad that in the same time you had access to the Infernal Bolt and managed to cast it, and you didn’t find an immunity, a silence, a reflect, a totem, any other class in the game (except one that starts with “w” and ends with “arlock”) produced much more constant, instant, and unmanageable damage
EDIT:
Since I haven’t been able to explain myself well, I’m referring solely to the excitement many people have for a spell like Infernal Bolt, which requires a bit of preparation, cast time, and above all, a critical strike to deal a lot of damage.
This is in a spec that certainly doesn’t stand out for its damage output and takes time to develop. Meanwhile, there are classes that have instants that are much more frequent and have higher damage (Black Arrow, for example)

High crits make happy feelings.
So, is making 7 million crit every now and then more satisfying than making 2 million, 3 million, 3 million, 3 million, 2 million in the space of two globals and instantly, jumping around the map?
It’s not a controversy, but I’d be happy if I could have defensive, escape, and other spells with high damage. Destruction has big bolts, ok, the rest of the spells are poor compared to chaosbolt

I loved big crits in shadowlands, but our long casting spells no longer have big crits. The largest crit have seen with out chaos bolts is 6 mil, which is only 50% of out total hp pool at this point.
Not even that big compared to other classes. Hell even demo has better because thier demonbolts can crit for 2 million and are instant cast compared to the 2 second long cast of chaos bolt (without backdraft).
Infernal bolt do seem better this patch, but it doesnt feel like on the level of chaos bolt.
the crux of the matter however was not “what does it feel like to do a great crit”, which obviously I know XD but what’s the point of getting excited about a single hit with great damage and a lot of difficulty in casting… compared to a much higher amount of damage from other classes in less time and without having to cast it
High risk, high reward.
You took the risk to tickle that castbar gently for an extended period of time and the reward was, that you made it to completion, giving you that big juicy number
I remember back in mop, some random bg and the dude just running along without resilience, not paying attention, just to get deleted out of existence for twice his hp pool by a chaos bolt and even if he noticed it coming his way, there was nothing he could do about death’s slow, cold grasp creeping towards him.
sure, but by the time you create the situations to be able to cast a single powerful blow… all the other classes produce double that damage in two globals

Which part of high risk high reward did you not understand brother
I started the thread talking about the Infernal Bolt , and I simply said that I don’t understand the excitement over a spell that requires a long setup and can deal a lot of damage on a crit, when with much less preparation there are classes that have instant or unkickable shots and spells that do even more damage than an Infernal Bolt.
At the end of a battleground, I’ll have cast about 10 Infernal Bolts maybe, and I’ll have seen a maximum of 1 crits (having 10% crit). Sometimes even zero crit.
How many aimed shots instead? Besides, the Infernal Bolt is a matter of timing, and it’s not a guaranteed crit
Then it is clear that it is better to have the damage of the infernal bolt than not to have it XD
