The Great Push 2023 Starts This Weekend!

What i mean is that so much of the skillful bits of WoW happen “Below the hood”, so to speak, clever use of cooldowns and class skills, lucky procs, all those things are very important to playing WoW, but don’t really show very well on-screen for a spectator, so you see a clusterhump of spell effects and numbers, and that’s pretty much it.

Compare this to fighting games, where everything that happens is clearly visible on-screen, or FPS games, which are designed to look like being in the middle of an action movie, and i have to stick to my point: WoW isn’t a very visually appealing game to watch other people play.

Give credit to comentators of wow events - they explain a lot of stuff. I agree that WoW is not a perfect E-sport game, but I find it fun to watch TGP or MDI finals.

All of the professional sports has tiny, but very important details, that is missed by casual wievers. We still enjoy them though

Example - how many basketball viewers has at least a slight idea about defensive/offensive sets, players decisions, etc.? I would say very low, what majority of viewers care about is nice dunks, flashy dribles and clean 3-pointers. In WoW this could translate to killing a boss on+31, speed running a dungeon in 9mins, or breaking 3 million dps on damage numbers while killing 7 packs at once… WoW has flashy moments, but they are slower and rarer.

just doesnt feel very competitive

Yeah when you can kind of predict every single comp (considering that there pretty much is 1 comp anyways) before even the teams are announced then there really isn’t much to think about it.
