The Misguided War on Addons and Changes the Base UI Needs

Somewhat. Blizzard claimed that they did said diarrhea in order to combat addons.

What content do you do? We keep hearing from people who barely even play.

Myth raider? Hall of fame? 3krio? Title? Top 10?

You can’t have an informed opinion on how addons interact with content you don’t do. I keep seeing the super casual players with the same take as you.

All semi serious WoW players love addons

The problem is: bosses like ovinax or s2 neltharion were impossible without the assignment weakaura. So…you either „play the weakaura“ or you will never kill the boss (only mythic difficulty obviously).

Blizzard should stop designing bosses that require an automated system to coordinate the group. Nobody liked progressing these bosses.

Can’t speak for other WA bosses like fyrakk, I didn’t progress them beyond p1 intermission.

Fair, I haven’t done any content that has required such an auto assign WA, but thats why I said “MAY have a point”.

Yeah, that’s indeed how it works.

Sure, ‘generally’ they won’t. But people will complain about any- and everything.

Well, can’t play the game without addons, can’t write a forum post without addons too :joy::joy::joy::joy:

From the top 5 google results 2 of them (copyleaks, zerogpt) put the text on 0% from minimal searching. But the fact that instead of reading the post instead of just copy pasting it and ignoring what it said, is the main problem.

He knows how to heal without addons (since those players/guilds are the first to jump into ptr and test). And he is sharing his experience about what UI FEATURES the addons provide that should be in the game, instead of just accepting that the game should become worse.

I will not disagree completely here, but also keep in mind that addons enabled the game to reach the point it is today. Blizzard had all the community fixing its shortcomings in the UI/UX department and enabled them to focus on the content/design.

That’s amazing! You found 2 examples out of hundreds. Want a cookie?

I’m sure I can find some white chocolate cookies to go along with your white knighting!

Again, like I previously said, you believe what you want to believe, and I’ll believe what I want to believe. End of story, get over yourself and accept that people may not agree with your opinion. There are people who will not agree with mine and that’s fine

2/5, to point out that your post was actually troll.

0 points around the discussion like the rest, trying to derail the thread, and when called out trying the “I believe what I believe, you believe what you believe”.

Disagreeing about your opinions and direction the game goes is appreciated, claiming that another player is just spouting ai generated BS is not disagreeing, it is trolling.

Ok, if that is what you wish to believe, all the power to you.

I still stand by my opinion and what I found and verified with AI checkers. Just because I don’t go along with what you want, isn’t trolling. It’s called having a difference of opinion!

Xavius was effectively a 7 pull boss. On Mythic. Other than that Cenarius and il’gynoth were the only actual bosses in the raid.

You could in theory play Ovinaxx. Just add another 200 or so pulls. So ye, “fun”. (could be circumvented by giving one even more time to position).

For Fyrakk there wasnt a need for a weakaura after intermission. The intermission was the issue. P2 fell into the same category as Smolderon and some guilds didnt even use the WA on that boss and just did it the regular way with a lot of voice.

They can fight against add-ons all they want as long as they provide what they take away.

If they take dbm they better make tracking boss abilitys more intuitive and easy to see.

And I hope they keep there hands of all non combat add-ons.

Oh and don’t you dare touch gtfo. I often struggle to see stuff on the ground and I know they won’t make less ground stuff

This was something I was talking about with some friends early, who stopped playing WoW a long time ago. They saw the article and were like, “if they remove certain addons that we used to use, then pretty much the super casual instant gratification playerbase is screwed!”.

Which they aren’t wrong. WoW has been catering to more and more easy and instant kinds of play these days. But then again, those same players don’t pay attention to anything that is on their screen. So even if the addons were or weren’t removed, they would still fail at the basic of things.

People who use addons for PvP, sure they’ll be screwed. But I imagine the addon community will work their magic.

But we’ll wait and see what they decided to ban and how they will enforce that ban if the addon community get around whatever block they put in place to stop some data from being read/displayed.

Your not wrong.

I personally use as little addons as possible.
I only have gtfo cause I sometimes get overwhelmed by all the ground effects and I have dbm cause we’ll cause every one has it ^^

Other then that I only use addons that have nothing to do with combat like allthethings or TomTom.
And I don’t think blitz cares to battle those addons

Yeah, those smaller addons are going to be fine.

But I think everyone is now wondering what exactly are Blizzard going to do to replace the information, which players were getting from those addons, which people have been using for many many years.

I imagine combating the addons, they will find another painting of a woman in WoW and turn into also into a bowl of fruit!

Yeah it’s gonna be interesting to see what they come up with.

Like dbm is as old as wow itself and there has to be a reason for that

Oh Oh Oh Oh oh…OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

I know why they’re doing this!!!

Blizzard don’t have the intelligence to create and maintain addons like DBM, BigWigs and other things like that. They don’t want to hire those addons creators to work for them…

What does this all mean?? They want to get rid of those in-depth addons, so WoW can launch on console. So they will create a stupid form of DBM, where you will have “DODGE THIS SPELL” “INTERRUPT THIS SPELL” flashing across your screen, like you’ve just entered an arcade!!

Ion said in the interview that they are willing to work with addon creators in order to incorporate them into the game.

no, hell no I even find it crazy that this is allowed

or just deleted 90% of the passives/trashbuf that are useless to follow?in cata/mop/wod/legion/bfa and early sl it was easy to follow and understand

It will be implemented, but if you open your eyes, 99% of the abilities are readable

I’m not going to list everything you’re asking, but accept the fact that you’re playing a game, everyone will have the same experience.

and above all, remove voice alerts

Games on console are the opposite of this. That’s only what happens with addons on PC like DBM. Console games are usually designed, so you see every mechanic naturally just by looking at the monsters, etc. Play Monster Hunter Wilds and come back after  Or try even Destiny 2
