Judging from how you reply to people, force your views and just the general way you put yourself above others… yeah I can see people reacting to you that way, both ingame and here on the forums. Hell the few interactions we had were not positive, and I tend to be friendly to most people.
More on topic: yeah OP it seems you just had some bad luck on classic. It can be that way, 100%, but it can also be very very nice. Just like on retail. I was puggin mh the HC raid the first month of DF and boy did I see some degenerates. Every single mistake was like a personal affront.
People want to pretend that classic community is somehow better, yet its the same toxic minmaxers and gatekeepers that were playing on retail …
We created megarealms, gdkps, raidlogging, gs and tons of other garbage … removal of RDF perfectly showed that its the people who are trash not the game …
And bad eggs are everywhere. Your options?
You have a guild on retail, and a relatively small one. Chances are you’ll barely encounter drama, and you’ll have a great time as you’ve discovered
Classic: if you don’t find a guild you submit yourself to the Russian roulette that is pugging. (same goes for retail) Sometimes you have some fun people, sometimes you or someone else has a terrible time.
In either case having a group to play with >>> the pug Russian roulette™. You’ll also encounter way more toxicity in things that people are trying their hardest to rush. That’d be retail timewalking, leveling, mythic + generally and raids, though honestly not nearly as much.
Classic has even more things people just wanna speedrun as they don’t provide too big a challenge in wrath(i don’t know how heroic+ is but from what i remember dungeons other the 3 icecrown citadel related ones and the grand tournament one there were none to really give a proper challenge.) and because of that they’d tolerate things slowing the process down even less.
None of this is a fact but my personal experience.
There are cases where some player think that they aren’t toxic, but annoy the absolutely life out of everybody around them. Then when people have finally had enough of them and start reacting negatively towards, they act like everybody that’s just had a negative response to them are the toxic ones.
It’s like the whole “no, it’s the children who are wrong” meme from The Simpsons.
You could have concluded this post quite easily by just saying you want to let the forums know you have a few friends on retail to play with, but none on Classic and as a result your Classic experience isn’t as good as your retail experience.
