The problem is that you get the same cast for both styles. You do not change style while mounted so it is a cast you have to do pre-emptively. The cast doesn’t state what it is switching to, it only states that it is switching. I was constantly changing styles unnecessarily. Bad design implementation.
Look at your buff when mounted, there it’s stated.
It’s far more painful for druids than any other class. I already posted all this on the druid beta forum right at the start and the whole thing was ignored. They have made up thier mind it is unlikley it will change now.
Alright, that’s fair.
But you do ‘hold the key’ to it not bothering you.
When Dragonriding was first introduced I hated it. It’s still not something I actively enjoy most of the time; yes it can ‘feel’ good from time to time soaring through the air, but I personally don’t enjoy the whole vigor mechanic that’s making travelling into a minigame; I don’t feel the need to be actively gaming when I’m going somewhere. But on the other hand: The speed is nice, for sure.
And I definitely agree that for gathering and doing short quests in a zone; skyriding is ‘meh’, and for me that’s solely down to the vigor mechanic.
So I would suggest: Instead of making the switch between flying styles less bothersome; let’s make skyriding less bothersome.
Getting rid of vigor entirely would be optimal for me personally; just give the special skills cooldowns and voila.
But I get that many people like it. So; what about faster vigor regeneration; especially when you’re on the ground: It should all be full in a matter of seconds.
What about adding 2 or 3 more vigor nodules? This could alleviate a fair bit of the annoyance.
Maybe because with classic flying, the wings actually flap, while with the new flying it is more like “controlled gliding”?
Not every one likes to take the time to check their make up and hair in the mirror before they decide to make a move. Some people have a much faster pace in life. This is why weakauras is such a powerful add on to enable better and quicker game play.
Because of the lost time argument that the OP mentioned.
Just consider that we have reached the point where the majority of the playerbase believes that asking for the gameplay to “take it a bit slower” is good enough reason to pemanently suspend the one who proposes it.
So, 1 mouse click and waiting 5 second is bad now? Come one, complain less ffs
I’ll tell you what’s worse. Mounting up in stealth as a rogue and not being able to fly. Having to dismount and mount again and then you can fly again. It’s hella annoying.
To me this sounds like a complaint about not being able to eat the cake and keep it.
To the people commenting that they don’t see or understand the problem: empathy is a thing. Try looking at it from the other’s perspective instead of being all ‘me me me’, hm?
Just because you don’t care does not mean others don’t either. If you don’t have anything useful to contribute, consider not contributing, because it does not affect you.
That said… I hate the toggle, hate the cast, give me the option of choice for mounts.
Your perspective is wrong.
Just stop using the toggle, ‘problem’ solved.
Does not mean that i have to agree. Especially if you play the “empathy” card over a video game 5 second cast.
“If you don’t agree with me then don’t comment”.
Then don’t engage in forum discussion and go open a ticket if that’s what you want. It’s not an echo chamber.
I disagree, i wanna use old mounts as well with the new flying.
The mistake Blizzard made was giving us something then taking it away. it doesn’t matter they made Steady Flight faster. They need to learn about something called “loss aversion”.
I’d have preferred if it was just two separate buttons. So one summoned any random (or favourited) steady flight mount and the other would summon any random (or favourited) skyriding mount. Instead of a toggle to switch between the two.
I spend 99% of my time using Steady Flight. I just wish I had it straight away going into the new expansion instead of gating it behind an achievement.
So true. And, at the same time, equally unnecessary. I still have not seen anybody uttering any remotely convincing theory about why the 5sec toggle cast time would be necessary.
I am aware this is tinfoil hat territory but “Blizz wants to make steady flight as annoying as possible to eventually remove it from the game” does not sound that far fetched anymore…
they should had made two separate buttons with no casting time or atleast less time .maybe 2 seconds
It’s the fact that it wasn’t needed before.
2 diferent mounts on the bar, 1 for each flying style. Now i’m locked into one style because it is massivly inconvienient to switch.
My chars only ever use one ground and one flying. None of which use the dragon flying system. In truth the animation and noise of the dragon plus lack of control has always put me off using it. So I don’t. Just two buttons on the action bar for stinky or the flying duvet.
For long distance I use the autopilot of the flightmaster and enjoy a video or two whilst I chill to the next location.
