This is not Classic+

But it isn’t. And if it weren’t for the World of Warcraft brand, the creation of which has cost countless millions in development, maintenance and advertising costs just to name a few, not many except for the friends and family of the developers would have ever heard of their project.

It isn’t as easy as “just make an MMO lol”, which has been proven time and time again over these past couple of decades. Many MMOs have come and gone since the launch of World of Warcraft, very few remain.

Now you can by all means argue that the developers of Epoch have made a stellar product. But can they make money? Profit. That’s the question. Modding a finished product, riding on the coattails of its success, and giving away your version of it for free is one thing. But if they tried to actually make a profit, to pay themselves, to grow their “business”, would they actually be successful? Would you pay for it?

ehh, you’re probably right at the end of the day, at least in a courts-of-law scenario, blizzard would likely win.
but if we’re going to be rational about it, then blizzard does not have a leg to stand on tbh.

see that’s where things become tricky.
if they used the product to make money blizzard would very likely come after them.
if its free of charge, it might be able to slip through the net, so to speak.
i don’t know what profit model they are going for, if any.

but i mean hey, turtle wow can get away with theirs, so why wouldn’t epoch?

that’s a good question as well.
it really depends on the quality i suppose.

i tried turtle wow and the moment i saw their store it immediately threw me off.
next thing i did was look at enhancement shaman talents and noted its flaws.
went to their discord to discuss the inefficiency of the spec, and the itemization and when they banned me for “trolling” i quit right then and there.

now you might say i didn’t give it the chance it deserved, but honestly, this was coming off the back of experiencing enhancement in pure vanilla (again) and i wasn’t about to waste my time on another version of the game where the spec is gimp while everyone else gets to have fun at my expense.

the only reason i’m still playing SOD is because that is specifically not the case here, and on top of that the spec can actually tank, but that might change if the current enh nerfs on the PTR goes through.

if the spec ends up becoming bad that’s simply a dealbreaker for me, and i’ll quit on the spot if that happens.

if i can’t play enhancement shaman, i don’t want to play the game at all.
same case for epoch.
i’ll try it out, but if enh shaman is not at the very least optimal (im not looking to be overpowered) i’m just not gonna bother.
