And some of them are pure garbage. Like Primal Strike for elemental and resto.
Most of the abilities they added are not worth the gcd , will see in shadowlands if they are somehow buffed by pvp talents/warmode or something .
As Soulscar says, not everything added in the pre patch is worth the GCD. Then there are those abilities that have pretty much zero immediately apparent use (shield block/slam for all warrior specs comes to mind), so on balance, things haven’t bloated all that much in terms of actual rotations.
Yes, just bloated the spellbook. I mean what’s the point of adding abilities that have no meaningful use.
Way too many buttons, activating 30min-1hour long buffs feel pointless, imbune my weapons with a buff should be a passive, battle shout and power word Fort should be a passive aura.
Having abilities that are useless to your class, examples, BM hunter arcane shot, Resto shaman lighting shield, Fury warrior ignore pain, shield slam and shield block. It works for arms, can’t see any use for it on fury.
Not to mention some classes need to be balanced around these useless abilities.
Unpruning is the best thing about SL.
So basically every single user of macros is trying to save some time by pressing less keys. Even if the abilities aren’t on GCD, you still need to press the keys.
If you have even a SINGLE macro to save some space on your keyboard, then you agree with me.
Instead of building macros to incorporate 2-3 instant off-GCD abilities (for frost mages : icy viens + mirror image + trinket) and eventually activate some trinkets / items, wouldn’t be easier to have just a base line ability to increase the damage for a particular moment of a fight ?
This way you could focus more on the mechanics of the fight, enjoying the game and not on the keys you’re pressing.
More keys are pressed, more information to the servers to process, hence more lag, etc. Blizzard could more easily balance the classes, without nerfing 3 abilities while buffing others.
It would be in everyone’s best interest to have less abilities, keep only the essential without adding garbage to pointlessly complicate a simple game.
OFC there will always be some “pro” 15 years old player who wants to press 50 keys every second just to show off how good it is.
I’m not refering to them, since they are like 0.1% of the WoW base players, or even less. unfortunately they are here too on this forum and in a maniacal way combating any try to make this game simpler. You can see their posts above too, with thousands of posts, just blocking and trolling every opinion they dislike.
In my opinion, having so many abilities, is taking the fun out of the game - instead of focusing on the encounter, you need to keep an eye on 10 cooldowns of your own spells: not fun at all for me - and yeah, I play this game since it was a nice easy game to play.
Now it’s turning into a piano lesson (and yeah, I studied piano in the musical school for many years and still not find it funny to press 10-15 keys every 2 seconds for every mob pack). Remember that you also have 4 movement keys + jump that you need to press every second.
Now that I’m 40+ years old, i find it even painful to press so many keys just to play WoW for 1-2 hours a day.
Seeing some of your answers above, maybe I’m too old for wow and it’s time to move on to a much friendlier game, like TESO or Classic WoW.
Too bad the Retail version of WoW is becoming a garbage spells filled game. But hey ! this is my opinion. Forums are for expressing the opinions. I’m saying what the game would be best for me. If you agree or don’t agree, you’re also free to express your opinion, but without insulting anyone… unless you’re a bad troll and cannot abstain
Treat yourself to an MMO mouse like I have. Makes things a lot easier to remember. I can’t go back now
There is no unpruning in SL and I still can not believe any of you guy would say this nonsense. NOTHING changed.
Agreed this makes things alot easier, my setup works as following:
1,2,3,4,5
q,w,e,r,t,y
a,s,d,f,g
z,x,c,v
Then i have a logitech g600 mouse which has a third mouse button next to the normal left and right. I assigned that to shift, that doubles my binds above giving me 40 keybinds right there.
Then ontop of that i use another of the mouse buttons for mounts, then i have 3 down the side of the mouse. It has a 12 pad but i have trouble finding the individual buttons so i use it as three rows botton to top each row all bound to same.
Then different binds for clicking mouse wheel left or right or pressing it, and the final extra mouse button unused because it is akwardly placed for me.
That gives me a total of 47 keybinds just by moving my left hand up and down a small section of the keyboard and using 7 binds and a shift modifier on mouse.
