The code is already there. It’s not “time consuming” or rocket science to reuse the logic on 1 button click. At most 1 hour for a dev to do this. I very likely doubt this UX is 2004 code as most of the Era engine is now Wrath anyway (maybe do your research). And, even if 2004 code is your argument, then there’s been almost 20 years to improve this one itsy bitsy thing.

There was but those changes are in a game you arent playing you are in sod a reliving of a version from 2004 as it was back then.

If you wanna throw techie stuff out, then please do it correct.

There is no Wrath engine, instead Classic was build using the Legion engine - and possibly (yes, I am guessing here) patched up to newest expansion since release in 2019.

Your example is not right, it’s more like you destroyed the ovens and want them to make you a Pizza.

Well, I think the clue to that is in the status of the realm, which is LOCKED. If you look that up it says you cannot make new characters if you have none on the realm. Deleting them all means you have no characters on the realm.

Why on earth would Blizzard tell you if you delete a character you can’t make a new one? You can’t seem to take responsibility for your own actions.

The SoD realms are Legion server software realms with some of the Retail UI.

OP is right tbh, WoW is filled with these little UX annoyances and they have plagued the game for over 15+ years, so it’s nothing new. Blizz should really get on it.

I created a character on Lone Wolf a few days ago to make sure I have one in-case the server gets locked. Today I logged on and decided to change class, but I wanted to reuse the same name. I deleted the character and when I tried to create a new character I was met with the “Only players with existing characters can create on this server”.

So you created a Character, to have one in case the realm get’s locked and then in your infinite wisdom, you deleted that character KNOWING full well that realm might get locked?

On one hand, understandable concern.
Bit of a silly one to resolve, as I wouldn’t solve it with a message (and thus a second, temporary character), but verifying you had a character previously, yet again the low level…

On the other, you were clearly working around, you just put a boot in, but didn’t actually play. Regardless of which minimum level the restoration expects.

The point of the lock was to temporarily prevent new players from joining, and practically, you are one.

The lock is in place to protect the ability of existing players to play on the server. It’s the equivalent of a Sold Out message when trying to buy a ticket to an event. The trigger for the lock is the fact that the server is consistently Full with some queues. People pay a sub and have a life, so they want to play, not queue.

My personal concern is, whenever I checked, everything was either Full or Locked. Meaning, normal people should join late. Which may have a lot of advantages, like better access to runes and all. But it also means that financially, normal people will be forever behind.
