Trying out the follower dungeons on PTR

Doing it with other people is not “earning” compared to doing it solo, in my opinion. Having both options is how a game should be.

And having the computer do it for you is? Guess we just different. Dont get me wrong, I will try this and if it gives gear I will do it, as everyone will. But there is no way they are making this give gear better than doing grouped content. And they shouldnt.

Not at all, I don’t support boosters.

Ok, that is fine and it was what I was saying. It’s fine for seeing the story/quests and mechanics. It’s not fine if it gives rewards and XP. Right now you have leveling boosts sold by boosters, if you introduce bots you are essentially introducing the same service that the booster provides but for free. This will completely destroy leveling, because every one will just queue with bots and get boosted for free.

And again I do not support boosters, but at least you do have a barrier to entry via gold hence why not everyone is doing it, remove that and absolutely everyone will start using carries.

You missed a few comments between i guess, i was talking about Delves, “Follower Dungeons” are a different concept.

They said “Follower Dungeons” are literally to let people learn dungeons on normal difficulty, or have fun by yourselves and friends enjoying dungeon without worrying too much.

Delves are literally solo(or flex up to 5 man) challenge content like horrific visions from BFA (or Torghast if you like it that way) that rewards up to Heroic Raid Ilvl gear.

yeh I may have got my streams crossed cos the name of the post.

Still, delves seem far too simple but we will have to wait and see. I am all for things like horrific visions cos I loved them and did evrything on it. Torghast not so much.

I still dont think you should get heroic raid gear from doing solo content. Seems silly to me.

As far as we know atm, it goes up to HC raid gear from Vault for the highest difficulty. They said it would be challenging, soo prob at the level of Torghast (max difficulty) and HV (5 mask). You only get 1 AI companion in there.

The only issue I have with them atm is the AI companion. It could work depending on how they design the Delves. But AI for the contnent we have now, dungeons/raids, is just stupid.

I will have to disagree on that one, solo progression is pillar in gaming and wow was alienating those players far too long.

I don’t enjoy group lobby play, i really hate when my progression is decided by other people’s performance instead of mine. Now that doesn’t mean i want the loot thrown at me with a press of button, i expect a challenge for my rewards.

If they nail it like Horrific visions or Mage tower challenges, “Delves” will be the best addition to wow after M+

Holy priest mage tower…

I swear, if I was in a group with players that are as dumb as those NPCs, I would leave instantly. They’re legit throwing.

“imma just CC here to make them refocus the mage, it needs to die so it doesn’t nuke anyone”

WELL WELL, YOU THINK YOU’RE GONNA CC? I’M A DUMB NPC, I WILL BREAK YOUR CC. HAVE AT IT!

I think with certain people…even bots will refuse to do dungeons with them.

You say that but it is an mmo. You also bring up a good point. I would love to see the statistic on how many solo players have done any mage tower. In my experience when people say solo what they mean is they are lazy, dont want to do any work and want it easy. To be clear, I dont mean you.

Also visions were different but how many solo players do you think did 5 masks?

I dont like getting bad people in my group either but it happens. What people actually dont like tho is getting called out. And that happens when you dont want to put in the effort but expect to be carried. Now they will want AI bran to do the work.

If they make it as hard as mage tower, they should get heroic loot for sure. But I guarantee you wont see alot of solo players with it

Mage tower has various difficulties depending on what challenge it is and what spec you are.

The disc priest one is absolutely faceroll compared to the holy priest one, as an example.

I agree.
The idea that group content is somehow (the only) worthy content but solo content is lazy worthless shameful content is bizarre.
At the best of times this argument is weak and we are certainly not in the best of times, pugging is so toxic that a lot of players have been gaslighted into thinking behaviour that 15 years ago would have been unthinkable is now normal. You read comments saying “That’s not toxic” just because what was once beyond the pale is now normalised.

Yeh dont pug. Make some friends or join a guild simple. Or some people are toxic. Ignore them, but dont confuse people telling you how to do something or getting annoyed with you for not puttting in minimal effort toxicity. Its 4 other peoples time youe wasting too.

Also to the person saying about M+. I have done them all and you are right some are easier than others for sure. But even the easiest one is still alot harder than anything else solo in the game. It takes prep and a plan minimum

i feel like dungeons should always be multiplayer tho. Or atleast design solo dungeons completely seperate and with lesser rewards like some sort of scenario and different mechanics.

I get the feeling that if the npcs are decently designed people doing dungeons when leveling with others will become non-existant because npcs would offer a instant queue time.

I’m sure end game will fine because you got raids and m+ but i feel like during leveling the last bit of social aspect will go away

I have been playing since 2005, I’ve been in several guilds and one Community over the years. I’ve had some ingame friends and some IRL friends in those guilds / communities. Few are still playing. I’m too old to hunting down new friends every few months.

This game is for a wide ranges of players and playstyles. I used to enjoy dungeons, I no longer do and so will do other things and so I’m happy the devs recognise that covering all types of players is a good thing.
There is no one true way to play the game. You do you.

btw do follower dungeons have some kind of world building flavor like having some adventurers guild where you can go as a hub to pick what npc followers you want. Or is it just queueing up and you just get some random npcs instantly?

Kind of hope if they make this a permanent feature they treat this system like the class halls. recruit followers and upgrade them along the way and have story behind them. So you atleast feel some sort of engagement with the followers instead of just queueing up and getting some npcs

That has long since gone away and not because of AI followers.
I’ve read enough threads of new players who feel that dungeons are just a toxic nightmare as they’re just in the game and players are running through it like it’s M+ and kicking players for getting lost or not wearing heirlooms or only doing low dps.

Dungeons are no longer social in any way. Saying Hi will get you kicked these days.
Unless you’re in a guild with players you know in which case you can still do dungeons with them. They are removing grouped content. They’re adding a less toxic way to do that content along side the existing ways of doing it.

MMO doesn’t necessarily mean forced group play, it’s more about being part of community.

I enjoy games playing solo, i really do. My friends are all playing Hardcore Classic but i just don’t enjoy playing like that trying to overcome difficulties together stuff.

I was playing DH at Legion and i got both Mage Tower appearances for DH and then got some for my other alts, and i did every Horrific Vision solo 5 mask because its much more fun for me that way.

I would hate it if they make it so solo=easy type of content, that’s why im hopeful when they said gear is tied to the difficulty. Again we will see more when alpha comes.

And i also understand some people have that lazy mindset, i was getting so many hate whisps for using Havoc appearance around the Dalaran. People were upset because they couldn’t get it, and they gone mad when they were removed. But those people are not the “Solo Players” they are “Lazy Players”

Think of Rextroy as “Solo Player” like soloing current m+ dungeon or Current Raid boss for 1 hour type of players.

I’m pretty sure the reason for AI dungeons is because new players have such a hard time with impatient veterans who have no time for newbies who are learning.

People wanting to speed through dungeons existed in vanilla already. Ain’t nobody wanting to do a 2-3 hour run in scarlet monastery.
