3 attempts as solo.
It’s 100% clear in a single attempt as group - regardless your spec, ilvl and class.
Average time: 1.5 to 2 hour.
No way u sat there for 17 HOURS
Think it took about 2-2.5 hours. Did as a duo - disc priest and blood DK. Got Soulforges twice in a row so had ticking damage constantly contributing to my catharstick! We lucked out and got the tirnenn as the last boss and he doesn’t do much except try to heal (which is interruptible). It went much easier than our layer 7 run due to better rng with powers, bosses, Torghast wings etc.
I know its sad…
But yeah i did it 
Layer 8 took me about an hour and a half to do. Finished it solo on first try as ilvl 190 Blood Death Knight.
Is it mandatory to do it on Layer 8?
I did only on layer 1. It took me arround 2,5 hours on my 190ilvl frost mage on the first try.
n/a, I haven’t bothered to grind TC layers yet as long as it remains rewardless.
If you want the maw mount outside of rare drop or waiting for patch 9.1, then yes you have to do TC L8. I mean patch 9.1 is still some months away so i’d say it’s well worth it if you have the time, as mounting in the maw reduces your time spent there by half, which is well worth doing is you want to get the ve’nari conduit upgrades and sockets.
There’s also the chance they’ll make the ve’nari stuff account-wide in later patches so doing it on at least one char would be worth your while i’d wager. Can’t say they will do it for sure, but given the incentive to grind old currency will disappear in 9.1 (as Ve’nari will want new currency for her new items) I can imagine they’ll eventually make her “old stuff” accountwide rather than demanding alts have to grind every single different zone she is tied to. BFA should have taught them that people hated that with the essences (which they ended up making account bound!)
About 1.5 Hours on a guardian druid. Did it on first attempt, I had 100+ anima powers when I reached last boss.
I think around 2 hrs.
I had many failed attempts (10) until I stumbled onto a small thread that detailed how monks should approach TC runs.
After that I basically cleared in one go. In 90 minutes.
Around 2 hours. Solo run. I abandoned-wiped 4-5 runs before first boss. Depends on the powers but for my runs first floors were the harder part. One wipe at 14 floor mainly becouse i got the plus magical damage debuf 3 times. Next run was sucseful.
I am at layer 4 at the moment and can’t really see my self going any further.
we cheesed through all with 2 monks and 1 shaman 
dealing damage by healing ourself and hero every 30 seconds faceroll.
About an hour for the early floors, going up to about two hours for the last two. I up to floor 8 as Unholy and failed floor 8 once, then swapped to blood and one shot it. I always found the first half was quite a slog, but when I got the required powers (iceblood on interupt, frost drake when you iceblood, about a gazllion haste buffs) that it got really quick.
4 attempts over 2 evenings. I’d say I was doing it for like 5 hours per evening. Just for layer 8.
Always something stupid that made me fail as well.
Like one I jumped off the edge of a cliff with my last life with negation well. Fml.
I’ve solo’ed it all and only had to redo layer 7 because of poor power choices.
And i think i stopped layer 8 once or twice because of the same problem.
Did it all over a course of 4 days i think, like 2 layers a day.
