She patrolled off the roads in Alterac, the risk of encountering the Alliance on the road was extremely high. She kept to any dense trees or parts of a small forest if she could, but it wasn’t her skills of being a former deathstalker that kept her well hidden. It was the shadow artifact weapon she possessed. Though it held the abilities Sena needed to survive, the only drawback from the weapon was the talking. The constant whispering she hears from the weapon. Giving her ideas, telling her what may be right or wrong, everything was sinister about it.
Slowly she moved through the tree lines, taking a measure that she doesn’t step on any piles of leaves any small stick that could risk given her away. The sound of whining horses and the marching of plated armor could be heard from behind her. She swiftly ducked low and turned in the direction of the noise.
Marching past her on the road was a large sum of Alliance humans followed by marksmen dwarves in the front and rear. In the center middle of this march of Alliance soldiers were three carts of supplies. That was the first thing Marlight noticed, the second and most important thing she should have spotted in the first place was the officer leading this supply run, up to the front of the march.
The Alliance officer stuck out worse than the rest of the other soldiers. Quite clearly he was the one leading the supply run. The supply march came to a grinding halt directly in front of Sena, still hidden away in the shadows of the dense forest around her.
Shalla’dris hummed the shadow from the blade seeped out and wrapped around Marlight like a scarf at first then like a cloak that was comforting her.
“This is your chance, we can take them all. They are unaware of our presence. The opportunity to display dedication to your executor Darkblade is right here.” The voice whispered smoothly and softly to Sena convincing her to do what can be done.
" No, it would be foolish to attack this force alone. There is nothing to gain here.” To anyone else Sena would be talking to herself, however, she could hear the voice of Shalla’dris and it was clear enough to speak too.
“Didn’t the executor call you his protégé? Prove it to him, bring back that Alliance officer’s head along with his reports and dispatch notes. You know I am right, I can grant you the ability to take the lives of all of them quickly. This Executor Jorrick considers you his weapon. Be his weapon and do this.”
Sena shifted her hand up pushing back some branches from a bush to get a better look, trying to ignore Shalla’dris suggestion. She did a quick body count as if planning to do what she wanted to do. She stuck her head out getting more curious about an approach.
“Get back, someone approaches.” Sena did what Shalla’dris said and brought her body low and listened carefully. Two sets of footsteps approached her to the side.
“I heard something from over here, it was a voice.” Two Alliance soldiers were on top of her, standing directly in front of Marlight. If they moved forward, they would stumble upon the forsaken. She reached around grabbing hold of the dagger executor Darkblade gave her as a give. While Shalla’dris wrapped the shadow around Marlight’s hand ready to take control if the situation gets any worse.
“Don’t move.” The blade spoke quickly. “We will be exposed, they won’t move forward or out of sight.”
She slowly and soundlessly removed the dagger from behind her cloak, the shadow wrapped tightly around Marlight’s wrist she could nearly feel the blade calling for her to use it.
“YOU TWO! Who said you could leave formation! Get back in line now!” The officer snapped at the two Alliance soldiers and they both quickly jogged away from Marlight’s location.
She fell back onto her rear brush her hand from her face to her hair.
“That was too close for comfort.” She stated in a low tone, she sat and watched the supply run go by.
“You let the opportunity slip by, the shadow would have given you the power to dispatch those creatures in a timely manner.” Shalla’dris spoke once more.
“I let the opportunity to live another day and not die. I will not use you or the shadow unless it is essential. These reports and that supply wagon was not our concern, not our order to attack.” Once the supply run marched by she stood by brushing her armor down.
“Besides, what fun would be for -you- to kill them and not me.” Sena turned her head over her shoulder eyeing the hand of the blade on her back.
“Boldly stated my wielder. But let us not linger any longer if this is your decision.”
The Forsaken returned to the shadow of the forest and swiftly made her way back to The Queens Grasp’s camp.
