Yes, Vanilla was super-casual compared to those. Retail is an entirely different beast. The time required to complete the grinds in Retail exceed the time they are “current content”. Even acquiring full BiS (according to some online guide), which can be heavily dependent on RNG, is barely a grind compared to other stuff the game offers.
Completing one’s backlog on Steam is easier than 100%-ing WoW.
I’m a mount and reputation collector. The Undermine, however, is so overwhelming that I moved my main to Zereth Mortis (!) and gather some things I missed when it was current content.

Upvote on most of this as the rep grinds and RNG bs are just crazy .
Partial on the darkfuse grind . It can do with some boost to rep , but 30 hours is not that much . No-one said you need to do this in a single play session . Split it 30 days and you do 1 hour a day , split it 2 months and its 30 minutes or 1 hour every 2 days . Perhaps it can be nerfed to 15 hours or something .
They seem to be building the reps and grinds lately with the idea that people will grind with 10 alts , so reps take 10x longer and RNG is 10x worse .
When in fact they SHOULD be making the reps grindable on 1 char , and nerfing grinding on Alts .
The Siren Isle grind for torrential fragments was also rather painful. I managed to get through that but a lot of the Undermine stuff would take a lot longer.
Seeing how much there is to grind… I raised my hands.
I love having exalted reputations, but enough is enough. There’s way too many reps in Undermine and the grind is absolutely not fun.
Maybe an unpopular take but if u get max rep with things in 2 weeks u would be complaining there is nothing to do- and what are you in hurry for? just keep doing weeklies and you will get there. I don’t see a problem really?
I feel like this is a big problem with a lot of things in TWW. Take Resonance Crystals for example; my friends that do all events on dozens of characters are swimming in them, but me, who really only plays one alt, only had less than 100 crystals left after buying the darkfuse rep mount.
I’m back at 52k now, only because I did triple delve weeklies on all my level 70 alts… which is really not something you should be required to do to keep up with reputation rewards.
Like, how much do you need for just the mounts in undermine? Thats gotta be almost 100k crystals I think? 90k?
It’s insane.
The problem lies in the fact that even if you do everything every week, without CHETT lists on alts, you won’t be exalted with all 4 main cartels until well into october. And as a mount collector, the paragon boxes reward mounts so that’s not even where the rep grind stops! Queue another 3 weeks of weeklies for a chance at 1 paragon from only 1 cartel, and the mounts ofcourse aren’t a guaranteed drop for that amount of effort.
And just for reference, if the 2025 roadmap doesn’t change, october equals patch 11.2.7. We might be heading into Midnight Alpha/Beta testing by that time. By the time you’re finishing those paragon mounts, you might be well into 12.0, or even 12.1 of Midnight.
I’m not asking to have max rep within a few weeks, but hey, within the same season would be nice, or like 2-3 months or so?
This is just unreasonable.
