Play through the Midnight campaign to earn the trust of a new allied race, the Haranir. You’ll learn about their history along the way and explore the wilds of their home in Harandar.
I’m not a fan of having to unlock a new playable race. The old way of having a starter zone was better.
Another race that im going to unlock by either accident or to just get a ! off the board.
Will never play as 1 of these tho.
I hope they have a unique casting animation but probably no
The mish mash between avatar and trolls.
I won’t pretend that there weren’t people who wanted to play Haranir during TWW. That said, it’s disappointing to not have a playable race that is thematically tied to an expansion that is principally set in the land of the Elves.
And before someone says “but we’re also going to go to Harandar and learn more about them!” The proper way to get people hyped about a race is to lay the groundwork and story about them beforehand, and no, Orweyna’s quests in Azj-Kahet doesn’t count because you can’t realistically have one NPC carry the whole thing.
What are You even talking about? You can play as Blood Elves, the literal inhabitants of this “land of the Elves”, or, if You want to play Alliance, You can play a Void Elf - a race with strong ties to this lands.
I’ve counterargued many times in other threads about how there’s other “elven tribes” (which Chris Metzen promised we’d get to “unite”) that have been cropping up even to this day.
The High Elves exist, and they’re here to stay. Don’t believe me? Take a look around Dornogal and see for yourself how profuse their presence is.
But if you don’t like high elves, what about the Amani Trolls?
Oh I assure You I DO like High Elves. Exactly as they are presented now. Still in Silvermoon. In the Horde.
Some info on their potential racials, pl0x.
I want to see all of the various options. That will determine whether I’m playing one or not.
Haranir Racial Abilities in World of Warcraft: Midnight
The official names of the Haranir racial abilities haven’t been released yet, but Blizzard has given us an overview of what they’ll be receiving:
-
A passive damage increase against Aberrations and Elementals, as well as reduced damage taken from them.
-
An innate critical strike damage and healing bonus. This may work similarly the Tauren Brawn or Dwarven Might of the Mountain racials.
-
A targeted ground ability that summons smart roots, which can heal allies and damage enemies.
-
A fast travel ability that allows the Haranir to travel across the roots of the World Trees, similar to the Dark Iron Dwarf ability Mole Machine. While some locations will be immediately available for fast travel, others will need to be unlocked by exploring the world.
Blizzard be like: “Hey, please don’t try to identify with this race before you find out about it as something else”
Bro, what? If I want to play as a Haranir I’m making the point to the game that I want their perspective “from birth”. Allied races are a stupid concept - excepting situations where the race comes about as a curse to your current race.
I cant wait for change my alliance-alts hunter and shaman turn into haranir.
Since look good with race for me.
Maybe change druid too one. I’ll still mind.
Another Neutral Race? HARD PASS. Oh I have to unlock? HARDER PASS!
No paladins. I guess was predictable…
so who is their goddess? Eonar or Azeroth?
At least it’s not a bearded stone dwarf consturct woman
Would rather than a Race that was some how related to World of Warcraft.
I would have liked this instead of the Earthen in TWW and more class/race restrictions lifted for Midnight instead.
