Void Elves NEED new customization

I think we can all agree that more options for every available race is a good thing. It doesn’t have to be one or the other. Let’s push for more for all, and we can do it on separate threads for each, or one that includes all.

The reality is, void elves is the most popular allied race and compared to the other allied races that came out at the same time, they have not had anything expanded on the VOID aspect of them.

To clarify, many of us want them to be unique as void elves, not alliance blood elves.

We do need more customization, especially for VElves, ugh. More hair please.

Since I wanted male Darkspear’s long mohawk for my zanda troll.

If you ask why I play zanda troll?
Since I wanted upright troll and more muscular
Dunno, when we get upright for Darkspear troll and undead. Like Orc got

You could make the argument that Void Elves are so popular because the Thalassian model is just superior to the Darnassian one. Night Elves (both male and female) have weird proportions in a sense that they’re stuck in this unholy transition between “thin/model like” and “buff/body builder” physiques, whereas the Thalassian model just uses the “fashion model” physique and sticks with it. If the NElf model would just commit and embrace the “buff forest elf” style they’d be much more congruent.
IMO you would need to reduce shoulder size slightly on men and give them a bit more waistline to make them appear sturdier. For the female model, you’d need to increase both shoulder and hip width and increase arm circumference to make them look less like stick figures. Night Elves basically are apex predators in the forest. Make them look more like it. If you look at tigers or jaguars, those are basically massive balls of very lean muscle.

Several races need a complete makeover, like Night Elves, Pandaren, Tauren or Worgen. But unfortunately this will never happen because it’s too much effort for not enough return.

Anyway, got distracted… I believe Void Elves mainly get so much play because their model is superior to the other ones the Alliance gets. During vanilla, the Alliance was the best choice for pretty female models. But as soon as we hit TBC you could see the population numbers shift. The introduction of the Blood Elves really turned the Horde from the scrappy underdogs into the dominant mainstream faction. And Void Elves basically evened the playing field between Alliance and Horde again, so I think we are just seeing the effects of people returning to Alliance because they no longr have to play Horde to get the best model.

TL, DR:
I think most people do not actually care about the void aspect at all, and just really want to play the pretty Elves. They therefore would prefer pretty customisation options over thematically fitting ones.

FWIW, the male Zandalari look is a lot better than the females IMO. They look regal and tough. They are pretty well done and I think it’s just the running animation that can look a bit goofy.
The women on the other hand share the same model with the Darkspear, but look a lot worse. Less vivid, popping colours both for skin and hair, lack of feminine face options, lack of any good looking hair options. I really want to play a Zandalari, but those issues throw me off every time I try. Yes, I am very shallow :dracthyr_nervous_animated:

I do think Blizzard are very proud of the Zandalari Male model, because they used it again in Shadowlands for some of the Maldraxxus NPCs

Yeah I can totally see that. I come from the perspective of a roleplayer mainly. I still think developing them more both visually and story-wise is only going to improve the game and the small segment the void elves occupy.

And I highlight again, I think the blood elves are also left behind now. I do want the two to be distinct, in their own way.

When they give us long wizard beards, then you can have all the ear wax detail customizations and all the hair stylings in the world.

EDIT: Well I’ve been rereading this comment of mine a bunch and I just want to clarify that I mean the above in a very inoffensive way. Don’t elf me.

I’ll say again, it does not have to be one or the other. Two things can exist at once <3 <3

Void elves need love!

Because they’re

And honestly I agree they need more voidy appearances, but it doesn’t feel like this thread is asking for that. It feels like you’re asking more for high elf appearances.

IDK I like that there’s a difference, blood elf has no access to the void free hairstyles and void elves have no access to the blood elf hairstyles, makes them feel atleast a bit more unique even tho they’re nearly identical when going for a high elf look.
