It was fun seeing it in the theaters, with the two dudes sitting next to me talking about WoD stuff haha. Good memory
In September 2020, it was reported that Legendary is developing a new Warcraft movie, though with covid things will have slowed down or even put on hold.
Itâs worth remembering that while the movie didnât do well domestically it absolutely killed in China, the market that has become one of the most profitable for movie studios over the past 10 years.
Source pleaseâŚ
All those stories are pointing at the same source. Iâm not convinced. WC just doesnât have the fan base it once had. Itâs actually very unoriginal, it âborrowsâ too much for various sources.
Apparently that Daniel Ritchman guy is pretty on point when it comes to Hollywood scoops and such⌠But yeah⌠Not much else to go on and definitely nothing concrete.
The only thing that leads me to think something might happen is the amount of money the first movie made in China.
To be fair, if it makes profit. Itâs not like it costs Blizzard anything, they can still plod along with WoW etc.
If they do look to the Chinese market then thatâs any sort of Arthas based movie gone.
It needs to be canon though to appeal to WoW players more. The original was neither canon nor coherent. Also⌠ditch the orcs and humans thing, itâs boring and too generic.
The movies only work if they bring financial success. To get a sequel you require to get some profit from the firt movie. However warcraft movie was a failure. It barely broke it even if it did at all. From financial perspective the movie was made for nothing, maybe even loss depending on how deals were signed.
Nobody would dare to make a sequel in such situation since it would have high chances ending up as a flop and make blizz and whoever they did the movie with lose millions.
Maybe they might do some reboot at this point, but I donât think sequel is going to happen. They could do some series with lower budget and see how it goes from there, but I wouldnât put my hopes up.
InterestingâŚ
Never.
It was a flop so blame USA for no sequels.
Personally I would be thrilled with just an anime series.
Another movie would be great too but I want a series that more focuses on the warcraft universe.
Let the movies re-tell the events from the rts games and other big events.
Let the series focus on adventures of smaller characters and go deeper into the different races and groups traditions and customs.
They should do a movie in CG. I never watched the first one because I donât like âlive actionâ movies that come from animated originals (like the Disney remakes).
Yeah the live action kind of threw me off a bit aswell even though I liked the movie overall.
But I have always had the notion that humans in warcraft are bigger, strong and overall more sturdy than in real life.
So seeing these regular humans fighting these hulk like creatures felt odd.
Orcs were always bigger but humans always seemed like bodybuilders to me unless they were a mage. And high elves had the more normal slim human body type.
Just look at human armor, shields and weapons, they are huge in warcraft.
Real humans were so out of place in wow movie. Overall its not a great movie but not bad either, you should watch it.
