Hold up a second, I thought Medivh got killed in Warcraft 1 and the Scourge infection was in Warcraft 3? Is that not like a 30 year difference in the timeline? How could he give any advice post mortem?

His mom summoned his spirit back to Azeroth from realms unknown, or something like that. That’s what the wiki says and it seems to be based on books.

In WC3 he was a “prophet” trying to warn the people of Azeroth and his identity was kept a secret almost until the end. Once Archimonde is defeated it seems like his time in the realm of the living is up and he disappears (besides all those echoes and shades he leaves in Karazhan).
