Warcraft movie (2016) - Opinions?

I love Orcs, Humans and First War, as well as the old theme of Warcraft and Medivh.

So, I liked it really, but definitely it could be better too. I loved both Lothar and Durotan.

I knew it was going to be pretty bad.

Live action? No modification to humans?

Like, the humans in the warcraft movie were pretty much sticks compared to the humans we’ve seen in cinematics.

I loved the film. Did I use it as some weird-assed biblical text? No. It was fun. I loved everything that I saw and what made my heart sing was that Orcs were beautifully done - they were so human to my eye that I actually didnt see a difference

As with most film based on video games, I too found it was absolute waste.

How was it a waste? I realise that beauty is subjective but they tried to include all the very small details - was it because Horde werent the disgusting bad guys in this film just misunderstood?

That video’s quality is what I would want to see as a Warcraft show. They can start from the beginning have 10 seasons or whatever and I’d love it. They usually do a better storytelling in their cinematic trailers and short stories than in their game. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ive watched it around three times now. I quite enjoy the movie… the orcs looked great in cinema

I thought the trailer showcased some really poor quality CGI and got nervous that the film would suck so I’ve never watched it.

Don’t feel like I’ve missed out personally but one day I’ll get around to it.

It was supposed to be the first of a trilogy

2nd film was to follow Thrall through slavery and the third the escape to Kalimdor and the establishment of Orgimmar.

Would have been nice to have seen them all.

I didn’t mind what we got.

Warcrafts lore is too big for one film, it was never going to please everyone.
But when you think of it as a starting point of something bigger it makes sense that they started where they did.

Personally, I feel like it was bound to be average at best. I mean, the most interesting stuff in wow’s lore start with TBC. or at least when Arthas picks up frostmourne. This whole orcs coming through dark portal wasn’t exactly a top hit when it comes to the interesting stuff in the lore.

But they had to start from the beginning.

So the movie was cursed to be average at best from the beginning.

It was ok.

The movie wasnt that bad, but they should have chosen perhaps Arthas’ story or Illidans. Thralls story in that instance was not that exciting to say the least.

But the problem is where should the film have started? It would have always attracted an audience that wouldnt have quite understood it so poor old Duncan Jones was doomed to failure even before he started. Personally, I loved the film. But I understood all the references and I figured out the point in which it started but if you werent a WoW player this film tried to capture you too - so forgive the man for trying his hardest, with his hands tied behind so much red tape for doing his very best with a project that was so hard to fulfill

It was alright, for a video game adaptation but failed at both bringing in and letting people that don’t play WoW know the story and changed random lore and didn’t really stay true to the lore or game.

Also, not fond of how they did CGI for some races and also left out a lot of races involved/hardly any screen time outside of human/orc.

To do the Lich King without any foundations (story wise) made from previous movies would be a crime

Oh complete agree.

It would definitely need to be a 3 parter.

I haven’t seen it! D:

It’s just a standard cheesy B action movie with no memorable characters.
But the thing that ticks most people off with the Doom movie is that it had nothing to do with demons or hell which is what makes Doom, Doom.

Loved it and I have watched it many timed. But I think thier money is better spent on making further movies animated.
