I think game like Mount and Blade: Bannerlord would fit Warcraft really well. Imagine leading a huge Horde army as some Orc commander, with all the units from Warcraft 3 being represented as your companions.
Warcraft: Total War would also be popular.
Warcraft 4 should be an RTS.
But if they wanna do other spinoff games like Warcraft: Ghost following Notva, an SI:7 sniper voiced by Grey DeLisle as a third person stealth/shooter then I’d be up for that.
I’d play a Warcraft kart racer.
The Goblin starter zone is this way ma’am.
company of heroes does this too, you get to chose from 3 ‘specialisations’ while in a game and put points into the talent trees, though it does make for more difficult balancing and it’s balanced around having i think… 2-4 per team? It’s been a while since I played.
You seem to have gotten a little, well, a great distance off the path you sought?
Welcome to the Argent Dawn realm forum.
Total War: Warcraft?
no drama, no bugs, no microtransactions, just a solid 7/10 game…that would be all I ask for…
Gameplay wise I’d like to just have it feel like warcraft 3, I didn’t play 1 and 2 but I enjoyed the RPG element the game had through the hero system. Though it will likely never happen I would like to see an OG WC3 approach to custom maps because that was a big part of what people used to play back then.
Storywise I’d rather they didn’t continue the existing story told by warcraft and leave that up to WoW. What would be cool is to see maybe historical retellings of key moments in history talked about in chronicles or ingame hints (tho chronicles does cover a lot of things that were previously hinted at in game)
Stuff like;
A campaign that takes place during the war between orcs and draenei on draenor
A campaign that tells the story of the foundation of Arathor (so now you’ve got your orcs and humans covered)
Some ancient history we only have hints of like the rise of the Highbourne, The rise and fall of the Black Empire, the first Legion invasion, the several troll empires that came and went. There’s a lot to pick from obviously.
If they’d try to tell a future narrative they’d either bind their hands with warcraft, be forced to decanonize warcraft 4 if wow ever deviates or slap us with the AU arguement
Murlocs.
So many more Murlocs.
If it’s not called Fourcraft I’m not buying it.
Furcraft Four
I probably wouldn’t play it unless they fundamentally change the game compared to WC3. Even if they managed to write a great story, RTS games simply aren’t my thing.
I’d rather just see Starcraft 3 and Heroes of the Storm revived, honestly.
Warcraft 4 is not very high up on my wish list, but if they were making it;
- Keep it in the spirit of Warcraft 3. It was a great game, and I don’t think the formula needs a lot of changing. I’m thinking more of a SC1 → SC2 transition. Make it better, but don’t make it different.
- Remember that time Anduin saw that vision of an old version of himself blasting a dreadlord? Make that period of time/possible future the basis of the game. Make it a what if scenario, or a vision of the future, or something like that. I don’t think the lore needs a present day spin off story/game right now, we’re fragmented enough with all the novels, short stories and so on. Put relevant lore in World of Warcraft, and World of Warcraft alone.
- Do not let anyone that worked on BfA or SL anywhere near it. Hire a completely new creative and writing team, and make sure they do a good job. You got Chris Metzen back, throw him at the project as much as he’s willing to be thrown at it, and if it’s not at all, do it anyway, as much as you can get away with.
That’s about it.
EDIT: Also, another idea.
Give Larian Studios the rights and then just forget about it for a few years, and then cash in.
Mind you, a Divinity 2/Baldur’s Gate 3 style game in the Warcraft setting is just a very pleasant fever dream of mine that likely will never happen.
But I’d still love the heck out of it.
By the Old Gods yes, this would be glorious!
Realistically Warcraft 4 needs to be a base building RTS with at least 4 factions 2 of which are Alliance (Humans) and Horde (Orcs).
This is why I think it should be a cRPG with an emphasis on recruitable party members some of which you can romance .
maybe this time we’ll get a romanceable dwarf
Lord of the Clans cheated us by not giving Thrall an option to flirt with that bearded lass who even undressed for him.
For me, the game would need to have a very strong modding potential, like Warcraft 3 did. I have no good expectations for this though, considering Reforged already pulled one over modders to prevent a future DotA situation happening.
The base game of Warcraft 3 never really was that good in my opinion, the main meat of the game was thanks to how easy it was to create your own maps and games within Warcraft 3. Unfortunately, the more complex the game becomes, the less it can be modded by anyone.
And considering how big Warcraft 3’s custom games have become, transporting them over to a new game entirely might just end up feeling like a downgrade.
Yes, you might be right, but I don’t have a sub currently, so I can’t post there :S
