We need Thrall back

We need the True and Rightfull Warchief back, Thrall is the only one that can hold the Horde united and true to its path.

points towards Dragon Age, Witcher series, and serveral other modern fantasy franchises Blizzards need to step up their game, instead of making excuses for lazy writing.

Warcraft is a heroic fantasy, not a dark fantasy in the vein of Witcher or Dragon age. You’re asking them to do a genre change

The genre is Fantasy, the Franchise Warcraft. Its all up to imagination and good effort. And Warcraft started with an 16+ age restriction btw. Also, Dragon Age and Witcher are special cases since almost all humans are borderline racist against Magic and non humans there. Same as Divinity series. You know, games that are able to portray humans the way they should be like.

I think using MMO’s rather than just RPG’s would be better examples.

Alright then. See Swtor and TESO. same deal. Accurate portayals of the three banner war for example. One Bosmer general even makes argonians hostages watch while eating their eggs aka unborn children. And that game is PG-12.

Given your previous comments in other threads you are of the mindset that winning is what matters most.

How come in SWTOR and ESO you think they are a better portrayal of story yet we know the outcome of these conflicts?

I am curious.

We do not know the outcome of SWTOR yet, since its non canon and Bioware is free to do what they want. TESO however will end on a certain outcome because the hands of the writers are forced(Tiber Septim joins the game at some point and force the three alliances to retreat, with the Aldmeri Dominion last to fall only because Talos/Septim cheated, literally).

SWTOR follows Legends continuity and thus falls into that category, unless there will be 3 different canon versions.

Regardless, you dodged the question. If in the story winning is the most important factor then how come you use them as examples and say Blizzard should take a page from their book as they already have a defined ending to them stories?

Those examples show the reality of how horrible the war is on all sides(including stuff modern people would see as war crimes).

The movies, the animated series and the new books are the only canon sources. Disney and Lucasarts already said that the legends continuity was cut out entirley.

This’ll probably sound accusatory, but he probably wants the other faction to be darker so as to feel justified in his choice of faction

So Blizzard are capturing the reality of war, yet their writing on that front is lazy?

No blizzard does not. Compared to all the other franchises. Stop twisting my words.

Windrunner certainly is.

Something like that ye, I just find it strange that if X side problems with the story aren’t bad because compared to Y X is winning thus that somehow cancels out a lot of the bad…?

Ultimately it doesn’t matter about the end result, you play for the journey of the story and from that how good or bad it is being displayed, told and shown to us. But not many people see it that way anymore which is a shame.

I haven’t played for as long as some other people have, but I’ll wager that those who have identify with their choice of faction and race to an extent.

Yeah. WoW is dark and is representing the reality of War through Sylvanas…

PFFFTHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

Slaps knee

Ignore him. Seriously. A lot of his comments are based out of biased viewpoints that he feels the need to constantly bring up as if Blizzard will lift a finger or even glance in his direction.

What you say is true. A story is not, and SHOULD NOT be dictated by a tally. Nor should it be influenced by the voice of the many. Reviewing and gaining tips - I repeat TIPS - from others is healthy. But direct influence does anyone little favour.

Come on, when an Author starts to write a story, do they stop mid-way and look at the current trends of the season? And then change everything because that trend is only popular for about a few months?

Nope.

I thought you were funny when you weren’t being serious.

When you’re really trying however, is where you’re really even more funny.

I know, but I wanted to see if I can use his own type of logic against him and see what he would put, but I gave up xd.

WoW is not dark. On that i sort of agree.

But another undeniable truth is that one that does a closer approximation regarding realism with quite a few war decisions, is Sylvanas.
I mean, Anduin is borderline stupid most of the time.

Had Sylvanas the advantage the narrative had given Anduin and the Alliance, this war would’ve been over already.

Generals defecting because of necessary losses like Saurfang did in Lordaeron? Risking the lives of their own soldiers because of moral qualms like Baine in Boralus?

I mean, at least with their ‘Villain’ role, the Horde is apparently being unburdened of this Disneyesque approach that has the heroes triumphing with the power of love while remaining spotless. Which in turn, sometimes goes the other way around and makes them do some WTF random villain movements, thats true.

But overall, the crude approach of certain Horde collectives is representative of how nasty war can be. At least, this happens with them more often than it happens with the Alliance.

They quite literally pulled back Grommash out of Hellfire Citadel raid list. Presumably, because of backlash.
EDIT: And retcons. Retcons a galore in BfA.
