I think this should be able to have been total opt out if desired. Its not like its on all day - a matter of a few minutes if I understand it?
so my experience of this event, its its utterly epic! currenlty trying to find the area with the most killable npcs gathered in one place to unleash my zombies explosion and create an instant army…top tip if you fly inside the mage tower while infected but before you transform you can get to portal room…npcs by portals die in one explosion creating 3-4 zombies and instant chaos

OK so I sent some characters out and here’s what I found:

You are auto-flagged in SW and Org, and Disable doesn’t work there: the 5-minute timer ticks down, but you are not unflagged at the end.

You are not auto-flagged anywhere else that I can see. I sent alts around Shattrath, Ironforge, Thunder Bluff, Ashran, Dazar and Boralus as well as into some EK and Kalimdor zones. I didn’t try the Exodar; even zombies wouldn’t be caught dead there!

Outside the capitals PvP zombies can’t attack you, nor you them.

Even outside the capitals, non-PvP zombies can zombify you when they explode.
So stay out of SW and Org for the week if you don’t like it, I guess? Only place you need to be is in the portal room, and if you are zombified there, go through the portal to your destination and explode, res and run back clears it.

My next point was that there are also non-PvP zombies.
I wish i could turn off pve too so i don’t have to be forced dealing with it like in bfa but it is what it is i suppose 
Ok, I take back the part where I said that you can’t infect NPCs. Infected a few towns now.
Same here, no zombies in Stormwind 
The only quest I can find sends me back to icecrown, aside from being flagged (which drops off as normal if you take a flight) I see no difference and I’m hanging about whilst I do other (non WoW) stuff. I wish there were zombies here (Aerie Peak, Bronzebeard et al).
edit - I saw two… just two. I notice we’re being overrun by Knights of the Ebon Blade though!
There were a lot on AD and suddenly they all dissapeared. I think it comes in waves.
Golemagg is a PVP server.
You joined that server to PVP. That is a pvp server.
I dont join pvp servers to PVE.
I joinned a PVE server to PVE. I dont care about the zombies if they dont affect me. In this case I do. Cause
i mean its a zombie invasion, what would you do irl if something like that happened, just say sorry im not taking part go bite that guy?
I am not a 7 year old playing gmod. Also you’re comparing this to RL is a silly thing to do.

Aha, found them… sort of. They rush the main gate and get mowed down long before they get into stormwind proper. Makes sense the argent healer is here. I’m guessing they’ll get more of a zombie gang to attack with as the week goes on!
edit - Yay, I ended up getting zombified and exploding on a stormwind guard but I got the quest and after 1 corpse run it was all over, I assume they’ll get harder, but even with just me (and one other guy I ate to get my first honorable kill - I said I don’t pvp) they didn’t get over the bridge.
Astonishing the amount of attention seeking and ego boosting that goes on within gaming now days.

Blizzard have put a lot of hard work into this. Extensive market research, looking at thousands of item of player feedback, collating all the data and extracting trends and whatnot to ascertain what’s the best way to lose subs…
This was obviously one it the features they came up with.
On a more general note, there’s a saying we have here in the UK that you get promoted to your level of incompetence.
Well, I did some research and found out two ways to become a zombie.
First, you gotta look for plagued roaches / stuff in corners, attacking them turns you into a zombie.
Or you can use the LFG tool and find a zombie raid and just join them.
