What’s the easiest melee class to play?

I should have clarified that this was for PVE, I’ve accepted that I will never be any good at PVP.

What are everyone’s thoughts on Unholy DK? That was my spec back in WOTLK but I assume it’s probably changed a bit since then.

DPS: Frost dk, enha shaman, havoc dh, retri pala, assa rogue, fury warr… I think all of them are fine

If you want 3, havoc, fury aaaaand uhh frost probably

It will be very personal, you just have to play them (just level up via dungeons) and see what you like. For example I find ench shaman easy, while others say it’ complicated. I find rogue/feral hard, while some people will say “it’s ez”

But if you want more simple stuff, I guess DH, warrior are good picks.

DH, and survival hunter, since those are newer melee specs (surv was reworked), and blizzard applied common sense, when designing them. Surv Hunter is really weak tho. Stay away from old specs, that got their talent tree abilities from the past, and haven’t really been reworked. I think every class with 8 buttons or more in a 30 seconds pure dps rotation without defensives is a complete failure in terms of design

DH and assassin rogue.

there is two category for melee Spec.
first category easy to play just smash your head on keyboard:fury Warrior, havoc dh,assassin rouge, outlaw rouge, frost dk,ret pally, survival hunter.
second category easy to play but need some researching to understand the Spec:Unholy dk, Enhancement Shaman, Feral Druid,Subtlety rouge, arms Warrior, Windwalker Monk

I forgot to say Frost DK levelling pulled everything and never close to dying :P. Ret is a little boring, Atleast with Fury you get cool animations :stuck_out_tongue:

When you look at just dps rotation and nothing else most classes are fairly simple and revolve around 3 or 4 buttons, then it’s the utility that can add another layer to your gameplay.

A class that requires you to make decisions between spells, procs, abilities then those would be considered “hard”, but some classes pack those abilities nicely together so there isn’t so much thought process or second guessing required.

I would recommend DH as my first pick. Although I don’t have a ton of experience with it it’s a nice class because there’s a lot of abilities bundled together so you don’t have to think about AOE versus single target abilities you just press the same buttons. You also have good mobility to get out of the fire and can learn how to use your defensive abilities effectively to get better. Not to mention the class looks great and has some of the best animations in the game.

My second suggestion is Ret Paladin. Ret Paladin is a very nice class for those who want the ability to self-heal/survive independently as well as help save others with your utility. It’s a very strong world questing, solo class. Due to the hybrid nature and utility it has, the dps rotation is fairly simple and straightforward, with simple choices to make between AOE versus single-target. You can easily save lives with your abilities like Hands of freedom (dispells roots), Lay on Hands (big heal on yourself/teammate), Blessing of Protection (immune yourself/friendly to all physical damage).

Last suggestion would be Warrior. The real skill with warrior is needed in PVP, there’s a giant difference from a skilled warrior and a terrible one in PVP but in PVE you can just focus on your rotation rather than your survivability as someone will always be there to heal you in group content, which makes life 1000x time easier not having to chase down targets, reflect the right spells, use CC effectively and survive/not get single-target-nuked. Fury has a simple rotation without much thought but the rotation is still engaging whereas Ret is very bland, you have your juicy abilities, get to wield nice weapons and plate armor, self-heals thrown in a bit. Arms can be a bit different, slower, but you can get some real nice juicy hits and annihilate things. Warrior is weak when you’re alone, especially Arms. No self-heals makes life risky if you overpull, not the best class to solo with therefore, if you turn on World PVP you will get nuked while fighting mobs.

Best Overall: DH
Best Solo: Ret
Best with a group: Warrior

Ret paladin
Havoc DH
Fury warrior

Hybrids will never be on the list of the easiest specs if you want to compare full potential.
Just the healing and support features require not only a metric extra ton of keybinds but also general awareness.

On topic:
DH is most certainly the easiest. It was a competitive race between DH and fury but fury got 2 buttons more in DF so well… fury is still very easy to play just dpsing and even defensive wise. Arms is not much harder either lol

Ranged:
BM technically is easy but managing pets can be annoying and that stupid 3 stack buff is also just annoying.
PVE wise I think frost mage is terrible easy, while in pvp most specs will be much harder

Healer:
Holy priest, no doubt.

demon hunter , it’s litterally a 3 button rotation

All classes in WoW are pretty easy to play, There’s not much in the way of rotation complexity.

The easiest melee to play is the overgeared one.

pritty sure eaiest is DH …

atleast in SL i would say
DH
Fury
Ret

for DF ive got no clue, fury still seems easy but as far as being chilled maybe only with the AA talents.

Assassin is fairly easy in ST fights, but the AOE rotation is much more complex, even with the improve AOE specific abilities. You still need to target swap to maintain ST bleeds on multiple targets and select priority targets for damage enhancing abilities.

And I’ll repeat that havoc DH is not nearly as simple now as it was in the past. In addition to the basic chaos strike (and demon’s bite), blade dance and eyebeam rotation, you have talented abilities such as felblade, glaive tempest and essence break, and a range of rotation altering talents (demon blades, momentum, burning wound, plus talents that affect throw glaive and fel rush) as well as multiple talents that affect stat priority.

I can’t comment on fury warrior or frost DK because I haven’t played either of them in pre-patch, but I can say that, of the melee specs I have played, ret paladin is rotationally easier than havoc, and the rotation doesn’t alter much with different talent picks.

Wrong. As a rogue, I have never had so many buttons to push.

Let me guess: You only picked the passive talents?

I was wondering what that poster is playing to feel it’s dumbed down, but you’re probably right.

As a feral druid, I’ve had to create a cast sequence macro for owl weaving (for the first time ever) because I’ve run out of keys to bind.
