Lvling 60-80 has allways been super boring / time consuming.
Other than that not much to complain.
I am probably beating a dead horse at this point, but I want a Hardmode levelling option if I am honest. When I played the Classic demo, I have to admit that although I died 10 times completing just a handful of quests, it was rather invigorating to progress in that manner.
Perhaps they could introduce it as some sort of ātoggleā (i.e. talking to an NPC at your raceās starting zone), and then introducing special mounts/transmogs or vanity items to encourage players to participate in that mode.
Itās probably the easiest bracket, I went 80 to 86 in one afternoon doing Cata zones (did a bit of Hyal and the whole Vashiājr, it gives amazing XP).
Well , 8.1 looks promising xp wise but the thing is scaling is broken. 70-100 mobs are stronger then legion ones and literally wod mobs are stronger then low lvl bfa ones. ( well i know no one kills anything between 90-100 thx to treasures) If they just somehow fix the scaling issue i think lvling will be in a good spot.
My opinions on leveling are that right now it serves absolutely no purpose and that we would be better off if Blizzard just gave us free instant 120 characters while they completely revamp the leveling system.
I find levelling 110-120 not too bad (4 toons at 120 atm) save for the obvious repetitive nature of questing and the war campaign stuff. Last time I levelled from 1-60 it seemed pretty quick tbh, but I always remember Outland being the worst and slowest levelling experience. Northrend 70-80 was a bit better but still hard work. After that things perked up a bit
The only way a hardmode leveling system would work is if the exp gains from the hardmode allowed you to level faster than leveling normally. Because letās be honest, players are always going to choose the fastest option, even if they find it less enjoyable. So for example, letās say it takes you an hour to gain a single level in normal mode, but in hardmode (assuming you play well) it would take you only 30 minutes to gain a single level.
This would reward players for playing well (something that is severely lacking in the game right now) and make the leveling process more interesting, effectively killing 2 birds with 1 stone.
Of course, this would be nearly impossible to balance which is why Blizzard would never do it, even if they wanted to. Still, we can dream right?
it is even worse because 8.0.1 nerfed leveling even more. some related to leveling itself but also by stopping methods discovered after 7.3.5 to make leveling slightly faster again to avoid the super grind fest it became one example is the original kara trash farm leveling method for 70/73-80 that managed to feel way more fun and be faster than normal leveling after 7.3.5. if they had removed all the leveling changes from 7.3.5 and 8.0.1 except the scaling i would have been happy.
Boring, unfun and annoying slog.
Pruning and Scaling and the removal of professions removed progression. Without progression, there is no point.
Other stuff - faster, slower, harder, easier - I have preferences, but theyāre less important than the feeling of learning more and getting stronger
I am leveling this character to delete it(Meaning I am just in it for the Heritage Armor for my main).
The 60-80 was a slog. Every level was between 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2½ hours, whereas 80-90 was 40 minutes to an hour per level(Full heirloom and Event xp bonus). Currently 90 just beyond the Dark Portal, ready for tomorrow to see how 90-100 is.
Of course, leveling just for the Heritage armor means that I donāt care about the story or anything, I am just speedrunning through everything, so I am not really in it for the Experience. Though, I have to say that the amount of Elite quests you canāt solo still in play is not a good thing, as it locks you from completing zones(I am looking at you Northrend), those should be changed to non-elite.
do you mean the decreasing of experience needed to level up?
Not sure how important people consider this, but you shouldnāt include 110-111 with the other bfa levels: 2 legion invasions will do 110-111, making it much much faster, just donāt touch bfa till youāre 111, and if you still need the timereaver from tw, itās absolutely worth it to level 111+ alts through tw dungeons, experience is decent, probably even efficient compared to bfa questing.
The way i feel about leveling speed is, that it is much faster than it was before level scaling.
I have a comparison which i draw this conclusion.
In times of WoD, i made a Forsaken Warlock that basically did all the quests he could find on his way to where he stopped. At eastern plaguelands, Lights hope chapel. He was level 48 there.
Couple of weeks ago i started playing again and did the same thing with exact same route only with another class. That character ended at Lights hope chapel with level 58.
Not a single dungeon was made with these characters, the mob slaying has a litle variation but not that much. Both toons had a full heirloom set as well. No other XP boosters.
I dont know how people feel it should be, but considering that when i reached plaguelands, i was ready to move on to Northrend or Outland as i like to end my story on these toons to eastern plaguelands.
With slower xp gains, i would have been forced to que for dungeons or do additional zones which i wanted to save for other characters.
If XP gain would be better, i would level way too fast and outlevel the route before it ends, so at the moment the leveling speed is fine for someone who just does quests.
Maybe dungeons should give more XP for the rushers with gogogo mentality so they dont bother people on zones, i dont know.
Anyway. When i got to Northrend which i started at level 62 i was 80 before i got to even halfway to Icecrown. When i left Icecrown, i was level 82. Now i have been doing Vashjir for few hours, and im allready 86 and i feel like i am outleveling Cataclysm before i even get out of Vash
jir.
Makes me think, that Warcraft just has the bad version of level scaling implemented and ESO has the right one. In ESO i never feel like i am outleveling anything because i am always somewhat at level with the zone plus i dont need tons of alts to play with diffrent friends, since theres no level restrictions or faction restrictions in place.
The scaling should have been optional too so the ones who feel like one shotting mobs is rewarding, would have gotten their fun too.
Yea. Was that about what they promised quest content for Legion? Anyway. i started early WOTLK and then my first level 80 took moths to leveƶ even while i had all the time in the world since im retired.
I feel like people just want things too fast nowadays so they can move on to next quick fix of happiness.
I wouldnāt mind the leveling process taking a long time if it was actually engaging, which currently it isnāt. Itās like painting a wall using a toothbrush. Thereās no skill involved, just the same repetitive motion over and over for hours and hours.
Yea. I miss the times when i actually had to plan my pulls on the zones while questing.
Though this time my leveling has not been dull at all, even if i greatly disaprove the new Cataclysm 0-60 range compared to vanilla, i have the pleasure of playing Alliance for a change. I have always been playing a Horde, and so, the Alliance storyline, even while greatly broken, is engaging to me. It is like playing a brand new game for the first time in a sens.
Though i would love some harder fights and actually mechanics on fights plus the old talent trees from WOTLK times where every level gave you sonmething to add, even if it was just a minor tweak. Shooting frostbolts fot hours on end with occasional brainfreeze feels like my brain is really freezing.
Game has too many pointless levels now i personally have no willpower to go through all of 119 levels to get to max with new character anymore.
7.3.5 completely cured me of my altitis. not sure if the upcoming changes will change anything for me since i prefer leveling through dungeons and I donāt know if they will affect that.
Worst itās ever been but not because of the amount of xp you get.
