That’s assuming all these people pug all the time though. Like i personally wouldn’t even go near a pug when i can just play with friends.
I used to be a ms healer and would probably still heal for a guild group if I had a geared healer. But I flatout won’t heal pugs anymore. The amount of toxicity healers get when things go wrong is insane, especially with the large amount of packs that tanks seem to pull in m+ these days, and dps usually ignoring interupts and then acting surprised if a healer can’t keep up. I main a Fury Warrior these days, and while I may not be a top end dps, I at least make sure I can get all the key interupts and stand up for the healer if the reason is valid and the group decides to start going at them after a wipe.
But yes, the fact that i’d rather take waiting in queue as dps over getting faster invites as a healer should say enough.
Old MS healer for 9 years. Quit healing due to one word: Pug´s! And the bad design of healers in wow, makes it a struggel to keep ppl alive in keys!
Been playing since 2007, healing since 2008 and tanking since 2010… Well deserved break if you ask me.
Did you mean to say “the bear minimum”?
I cba to learn routes and all these stupid skips in M+ Dungeons. Dont mind tanking in a guild group with a buddy telling me what packs to pull
Well, can update my previous post :3
This week managed to run and tank mythics up to +8 difficulty and somehow survived!
But again, with a full guild group, not randoms.
On one hand, I want to be able to run more instances and not depending on exclusive guild groups to achieve this, as everyone’s time is hard to align, but on the other hand…no…just no.
As for tank, I simply don’t like the close-up of view during a fight plus I’m not really a melee player. Specs like DH, Paladin and Feral Druid are fun in outdoor content but in group PvE I simply prefer range view.
As for heal, I seriously have enough stress playing six-armed shivarra of light while multitasking in real life. Since people don’t get tired of highlighting how WoW is for escaping RL, I just prefer not ruining my inner peace for other people’s wellbeing for once. x)
It’s better than doing something that stresses you out or isn’t enjoyable, especially in a video game that you pay for.
Fast queues are great, but there’s always something to do while you wait in a queue, either in the game or outside of it (watching a show, reading a book, playing another game, getting some work done now that so many people WFH, etc).
Outside of LFR I don’t face long queues often. I have a group to raid with on fixed days at set times, I do M+ with friends (the only “queue” here is waiting for people to finish getting food, checking on kids, answering the phone, going to the bathroom, etc.), and even LFR is fast at least on the first or second day.
Well I think healing is in a right spot, and rarely has it been in such a good state.
I did not like the SL style where it was the place where bad DPS went to play their low APM spec. Now you can really fell skill between healers. Not just how much dps they do.
With that said, here are my suggestions to improve even further the healer situation:
- A) If MW and Disc have proven something, is that DPSing while healing is a recipe for success.
Expand this idea to all healers so we all get that E-Peen hipe when we see the meeter.
- B) As many of you suggested, there is no tutorials on how to heal for new people.
In particular, the fact that so much of a healer performance is tied to addons. This is something blizz should address with a default UI.
- C) Cap the bursty damage. M+ (what I do) is limited by the fact that at some point abilities one-shot you.
I say that certain abilities should have its damage caped. And after that point, every new M+ level just adds double the HP modifier instead of damage. That way, the limiting factor would be DPS and mana.
But I would keep the high damage as it is. The thing is that blizz would have a massively easier time to balance damage if they placed caps, instead of having to thing “how much damage would this do on a 5+ vs. a 24+”. They dont care.
So damage would not be so bad in lower keys, while still providing a challenge in high keys. Win-Win.
It’s just boring, toy don’t compete with anyone.
Run succeeds? You don’t suck
Run fails, you suck.
No good way to gauge your performance, being a good tank with good pulls is subjective and offers from gep to grp.
Did I mention it’s just boring?
I used to do both, TBC - WoD. I prefered Tanking on my prot pally but did heal on this Shammy.
I stopped due to the toxicity around the Wall jumping in Everbloom. I just didn’t want to deal with that.
Then came M+ in Legion and now I have to desire to do dungeons with others. It’s just a panic trying to keep up with the group sprinting through the dungeon.
With the AI dungeons coming soon I’ll get a chance to see the DF dungeons.
Ain’t no way it’s in a right spot.
You’ve got an essentially dead spec in 5-man content for priests because the spec can’t aoe heal properly in 5-man content. You rely on single target healing with serenity & replicating flash heal and then sanctify once in a while - which heals for nothing for how long the CD on it is. If the whole group takes a lot damage at the same time like on en ancounter like naraxas, hyrja, the raging tempest and so forth - holy priests struggle immensely because they can’t heal everyone at the same time.
Picking divine hymn is tantamount to throwing, it heals for nothing for how long it takes to channel it. You might as well triage with flash heal & serenity.
Picking prayer of healing is tantamount to throwing. Doesn’t heal anywhere close to enough to be worth casting. Triaging with flash & serenity beats it.
They both heal too little.
Then there’s renew, which you never press because it offers no value to press it unless there’s absolutely nothing else to cast. I don’t know why this ability even exist, it has been this bad for ages.
I think for the most part healing is in a quite decent spot, allthough maybe holy priest needs something something. Throughputwise in the current season it looks like our single target is buffed, which feels way better than previous seasons where you pressing buttons and you were looking at bars going up by 8%. So that is a good change this season
But overall i think there are too many ‘mechanic’ moments when also the damage comes out. When you have to dodge yourself you can not get any heal out and your group is dying. Like cinderstorm is doing a lot of damage, and then i have to dodge fire patches. Like why is the current dungeon design (mostly DF-dungeons) so often that the damage pattern overlaps with dodge-mechanics? The moments you have to press your healing cooldowns you have to dodge…
Needs a complete rework pretty much.
See this? Yeah, it sucks because it’s too long of a channel.
“Increased by 100% when not in a raid” doesn’t make up for it. You don’t get any reduced CD on holy words from casting it. I’m at less than GCD on my flash heal casts, I can pretty much refresh my serenity and heal more from the flash heals(+trail of light) + serenity than I would channelling the divine hymn, keep in mind I’d not be able to move at all or the hymn cancels the channel as well. Then it has a 3 min CD to it. Proper joke of an ability.
Then there’s this:
18k PER PERSON?! LIKE, ARE YOU JOKING? IN WHAT WORLD WILL 18K HELP WHEN PEOPLE ARE TAKING WAY MORE DAMAGE THAN THAT?
???
21k on 5 people with 11 sec cd?
Like, bro?
You are responding to the wrong post if you want to talk about holy priest specifically. Go to the Priest forums to complain about that please.
I was talking about the healer scene in general.
I agree that there are healing moments that are very annoying. And they should be hotfixed ASAP IMO. And this did not happen in DF dungeons by the way. These issues are specifically from S3.
The issue is: The RNG / unpredictability of incoming damage.
Like Cynderstorm. The issue is not dodging with puddles, or the raw damage it does. Its that you dont know WHO will get hit once, or 4 times. That is the issue. Because if you knew WHO would get hit 4 times, you just cacoon him, he pops deff CD, ect…
And it would not be such drama with damage, or moving arround.
And there are others on the list of anoying abilities to nerf:
- Focused Ligntning of ToT 1st boss (box formation not intuitive).
- The dot of 3rd boss of ToT.
- The spike of tree boss of WM.
- The double dot of 2nd boss of Fall
And those are the main contenders to fix IMO.
Even the last boss of RISE is better than those 4. Simply because while the damage is high for that last boss, its 100% predictable.
The healer scene is dominated by the specs that can actually aoe heal properly.
It’s not fine. It’s atrocious. It’s been like this all of DF.
Post with your main, then we talk. Until then I will assume its a L2P issue by your side. I play shaman let me remind you. And I have only been “meta-ish” for a brief period in S1.
I have personally witnessed Holy Priest crush 24s. So… L2P I guess bro…
How about you just admit you’re wrong?
Holy priests suck. They suck really bad, a large part of that is the reasons I mentioned. Preservation is the only one seeing less play.
“healer scene is fine”, what a joke. You’ve got healers that are gods and then you’ve got -tier healers.
I am more talking about things like Azure vault (2nd boss i think) where you get an intermission where all the damage comes out, and he is shooting orbs in some weird order of direction (it is not even just clockwise rotating or something), while you also have to dodge swirlies. Like how are you getting a cast off?
Or 3rd boss Fall 2nd phase where he is in his aoe-damage while pushing you away and also shooting ‘tornados’ out of him. And we are supposed to start casting there? Rise the big dragon ‘trash’ has mobs that are doing aoe rotating lines you have to dodge just at the aoe-damage. It is programmed to completely overlap.
If you are a non healer you just look at your screen and dodge stuff. We healers actually have to start looking at our partyframes. It is just conflicting. Not saying there are no examples of this in older dungeons but there are for sure less. Azure vault in itself references to me as the swirlie-dungeon
A current bane to my existence. Have a couple of trashed +23 keys by this this week. I have to get that range 7 thing working on my dispell targets.
