Why?
The fact that they stand up for themselves is one thing, but race with strong ties with nature and religion and magic, it would be a shame for them to become edgy and bitter people.
Tyrande’s arc might seem menacing but that road only will leave to her grave and pretty much Tyrande represents the Army of the Dark Moon.
Because the Sentinels allways have been extremely ferocious. They were no druids but professional soldirs and warriors.
If you kill off all the druids and peace loving civillians and onyl leave those who were trained to fight for 10k years and been in countless wars and THEN have them see your race being blitzkrieg and genocided, what do you think will happen to them?
Doubt it.
I see this as Blizzard pathetic try to switch NEs back to their ferocious and savage WC3 origins. But for some reason Blizzard allways needs an apocalypse for those things to happen.
I can see the Night warriors power at the end being bestowed upon every single NE to share it between them and safe tyrande. The story arc allready goes in that direction in Ardenweald.
But their army still couldn’t get anything done, not even reclaim their lands
Weren’t they used as cannon fodder? I remember there’s a Horde quest where you kill hundreds of them
? They literally only with the Worgens who joined and who were even part of the NE army anyway, reclaimed Darkshore and probably Ashenvale. Blizzard officially said tthat.
What are you talking about all the time.
I mean I can totally understand that severall things have been shown as completely stupid unlogical and even humiliating.
But why are you even denying the few things that were actually shown?
There are quests for the Alliance aswell to kill hundreds. These are frecking gameplay indications.
I just killed 50 trolls in darkshore from a gryphon with my gleves.
Because Darkshore was never shown, it was told in a Blizzcon Q&A. Ashenvale was never even told, you’re just assuming.
I call them Cinder elves i just love the smell of burned corpses in the morning don’t you?
Of coruse it was… the whole Night Warrior questline is basically the canon version of the Warfront, reflaiming it. Blizzard just never updates Zones to its lore standpoint. How long was Ashenvale in Cata-Garrosh state now even Though it has been reclaimed after MoP for ages now?
And Ashenvale was aswell, during WOT we arrive at Ashenvale AFTER the horde went through it. They built no fortifications they just blitzkriegd it and NEs were coming from behind securing it.
The Night Warrior questline has a Horde version too. Going just from ingame data, there is no way to know that the Night Elves reclaimed it.
We don’t know if the Horde reinforced their hold on Ashenvale after they burned down Teldrassil and got Darkshore.
Their supplies had to come through Ashenvale, anyway. Those Night Elves that were in Ashenvale in the WoT after the Horde rushed through all died too.
The Horde version is playing simmultaniously with them recognizing the NEs attacking and having too few forces. Which leads to the stupid idea of ressing NE Sentinels to bolster forces for defense.
The Horde questline ends with them fleeing Darkshore.
Gosh you are in full denial mode, arent you?
No but neither do you know that they did.
The quests we have ends with NEs entering Ashenvale after the Horde walked through it and no Hordes were left there.
That is the last status. There is no indication the the horde was able to turn around adn even kill the forces we brought to Ashenvale.
Especially since the gameplay quests tells the horde forces to immediately leave for Lordearon as it was besieged afterwards.
So there has not been a lot of forces left in Kalimdor after WoT with the fe remaining barely being able to hold Darkshore and losing it in 8.1
The Horde questline plays BEFORE the warfront. The order is: Darkshore scenario (both factions) → Horde Warfont → Alliance Warfront
Still stands. Blizzcon Q&A by coincidence is no ingame source.
Well, if the Horde is going to hold Darkshore, they’ll also have secured Ashenvale. Otherwise they wouldn’t be able to bring supplies to Darkshore which they obviously did in the warfront.
I have literally givven you the ingame source… with Tyrande eventelling you on the griffons the NEs have succeeded and Maiev should prepare for cleaning the rest of them out of Darkshore who were hiding now.
But there IS NO ingame source of the Night Elves winning. In the questline they made Nathanos flee, then the Horde attacked and the warfront happened. After that we have no indication of the Night Elves winning.
Ok… whatever.
sure you do Liira you have that one line of a dev that will never be mentioned or shown ingame just like the last battle you won against the horde in your own lands is it not glorious?
There was ~ 7 Night Elves and one human on a small Drustvar island. Also 3 Night Elves Sentinels patrol Drustvar road.
Horde have a quests to kill them, but with random description. Like “There are Alliance troops near by. Kill them all!”.
So, there are no information what those Night Elves were doing there.
Regarding hundreds of Night Elves, probably you mean Nazmir suicide operation.
Yea, that one then.
Was a nice touch from blizz to massacre even more night elves, they will never give the race a break
As far as I recall, those were volunteers.
Thats not my point. At the moment Night Elves are put in the situation where they are picking thew theme and so far all I see is focus to revenge and I am all up for it. But there should be something else for Night Elves to overcome the tragedy. New city - re evaluating their position in Alliance and restricting Horde movements, so forth. Because it is for first time that Might Elves have been left without purpose after World Tree, without their new home and questioning their allies. So only revenge theme would be disappointing, I would not want to see Alliance version of Sylvanas/Forsaken equivalent.
Yes, because thats in game - solution was provided. But the message even that first night warrior guy sends is that without any help she would become victim of that power. Sort of a metaphor. Which I like tbh and furthermore states that the vengeance theme will not only bring nothing but will cost us dearly.
Even though I must admit what is being requested by Tyrande now is necessary .
Doesn’t really matter, because Anduin abandoned the mission when he had a chance to end the war.
Yes of course the one thing doesn’t rule out the other.
But for making these demands like restricing horde smovement and reevaluating ALliance membership etc the NEs do need to be more aggressive and take a step away from being peace loving and seeking balance. This needs a phase of aggression and abstaining from compromises.
Also parallely we need a rebuild. So we have two faces. One outer face that is aggressive, fercious and fed up with the Horde and Alliance, and one inner face that is focusing on mending and regrowth, habing Druids and Priests soothing the grief an showing what NEs are about what nature is about: regroth. That includes growing a new city.
So I don’t actually meant that NEs should just be one sided now, but they have been for the longest time, being one sided teethless. And I would like that to end.
