What Each Race is About

confused Vulpera noises

Well, part of the problem with Nelves is that they’re just not attractive enough in game. What they are on paper comes off more attractive than what we get in game.

In fact, imo, Suramar, the Nightborne, Maiev and the demon hunter portrayals so far are the only thing that measure up to lore and novel portrayal of the night elves. And this annoys me.

  1. nature and the druids - no where near attractive enough - lame in action, and almost without any magical power or strength we can see. When you think that before the Shaman took over, nature is generally represented by the four elements - wind/air/earth and fire and those are powerful, but druids don’t have access to that magic, instead they have the arcane power of the stars and moon.

Okay, this fits the night elf racial profile - but it’s almost never used in game - when have you seen star power or moon power to be the ultimate nth level degree of arcane magic it typically is fantasy games? The last time we saw star magic powerful was in WC3 - when the Moon Priestesses were casting it.

Cat and Bear form - they should be terrifying and able to do impossible things, you are getting a magically enhanced magical elf combining a magic wielding being with the power of an enhanced cat and bear - species versions thought long extinct but which the night elves could keep alive - which is how we meet their cat mounts… but in game, with all the interesting ways they could show druids powerful in action - the by far most powerful display comes from the playable class.

Sentinels - they really come off as WEAK average archers, always overwhelmed, and just not able to cope - I mean they knew how to make Sylvanas cool, they could have made sentinels cool - they just didn’t care to do it.

Moon Priestesses - the most action I’ve seen from a Moon Priestess was kneeling over someone in Lor’danel and bandaging them - yep, that’s right… next time is Delas Moonfang - that sees more action as a converted Paladin than a priestess, ofc she has that questline in WoD where she sends you on some quests, and does a little bit of spying magic… and that’s it.

Just pathetic…

You look at their zones - first of all, some of the forests are beautiful - but vast majroity of the time over half of them are in ruins or affected by something horrible - or stuck in 2004 graphics. Then there is a matter of the ruins, villages and towns - nothing impressive about them, okay the ruins got some great improvement in legion, and I expect there to be far many more ruins than cities, but still man - talk about only showing 1 dimension of night elf life - dystopian post apocalyptic, - Suramar is the only exception here, but the problem isn’t that we have that dystopian feel in ancient abandoned forests, tiny fae like nelf villages and vast ruins, is that we don’t have anything else. This is one of the reasons Darnassus and later Suramar were quite welcome, to give something else that was attractive.

Incorrect once again.
The War of the Beard is when the Daewi (Dwarves) were at their peak in strength but they were a very arrogant race. The Dwarves never truly recovered their war against the Elves. But yes. ā€œKnife Earsā€ is still a slur against Elvish species.

There is nothing wrong with such things in a fantasy setting. It actually fleshes out the universe and lends to the Escapism.

That does not disprove my point. As you would be triggered by every word of those slurs.

Ah now you are making it about black people?
Dwarves are not humans so Woke sensibilities does not apply. The Wildhammers are hippies that live among nature - The Bronzebeards scrap with the Frost Trolls - We Dark Irons love our mountains and yes no stranger to ā€œdark magicā€ but Worship of the elements is incorrect. Sounds like Bronzebeard and Wildhammer propaganda.

But yes. Dark Iron Dwarves are our own people. This is not just reflected by our ashen coloured skin and glowing ember eyes and hair.

It was once upon a time. But now Woke activists are invading the gaming industry. Forcing their politics - ideology and world view. So it is the death of Escapism and of some titles and franchises.

By that logic Night Elves and Trolls are the same race. There are variations and off shoots from the original template. The High Elves did not become Fel Elves that was completely the Blood Elves.

Horde apologists are always making excuses. The Orcs wilfully done what they done and the Draenai failed to stop them.

Imperialism? What are you on about?
Empires rise and fall that is all. Maps are drawn and redrawn and the power balances constantly shift. The Tauren were once hunted to extinction by the Centaur. Now with the help of the Horde they are stronger than before.

People like you are incapable of escapism. It is like that Anita Sarkeesian line: Everything is rac1$t - everything is s3x1$t everything is h0m0ph0b1c and you have to point it all out.

Either enjoy the game or log off. Going out of your way to find something to be offended by is just silly.

Exactly. Nothing wrong with that.
But people might not know there are good reasons for it. Nords were almost wiped out by (Snow) Elves so they hate all Elves equally. If the player chooses an Elf especially Dunmer / Dark Elf then go to Windhlem they will experience the disdain.

Dark Elves are slavers that enslaved Argonians (lizard people) for 1000 years and some Khajiit. So in Skyrim they had enough and wrecked the Dark Elves.
Redguard hate the Left Handed Elves and hunted them to extinction, Orcs have been beat up by everybody and more.
Bretons are half elves. Often their Elvish heritage is ignored as they are deemed a ā€œhumanā€ race. But they are often seen as dirty bloods especially by the High Elves / Altmer.

The Alliance does not get High Elves. But are instead stuck with Purple Blood Elves. The Horde should put their magic junkies into some kind of Void rehab but now we are stuck with them.
High Elves have a history and kinship with the Alliance. Fought the Horde together - traded and got along for years. The Horde race Void Elves are NOT the High Elves.

The Zandalari was the strongest Troll clan, even had an Empire rivaing Lei Shen and the Mogu at their peak. But are now has beens.

You acknowledge this already exists. But it is not just not with Rhexxar’s clan

Read lore, read atleast something its YouTube video surface level knowledge.

I’m more triggered about how uneducated and illiterate are you

Have you read only ā€œblack peopleā€ or you cant grasp what ā€œraceā€ means? I guess in western European style sarcasm and irony is too much for you to grasp

Technically right but wrong on details

Cataclysm

Dark iron are literally allies with bronzebeard and reside in the same bloke, it seems your lore knowledge is outdated, they don’t have reasons to fight anymore now when old gods and ragnaros are gone

If you are blind, uneducated and ignorant - yes, but I don’t have such luxury

Its literally what is written in chronicles vol 2

Can you stop writing walls of text that amount to nothing?

Have I said that racism in video games is wrong as a subject to explore? I only said that warcraft almost never indludges in subject of racism, and mostly brings it down to cultural differences, not biological ones.
Smth smth reading comperhension.
Anyway having racism and escapism residing in same sentences is so funny.

You admit that you are triggereed.

Yet you liken Dark Iron Dwarves to real world black people.
Real world black people do not have ashen coloured skin. You are saying the quiet part out aloud.

You are pretending to be a smug lore guy but don’t know your stuff.
Ad hominems demonstrate you have nothing of value to say.

I will explain it this way.
The player character is canonically the most powerful force in the World of Warcraft. The thread is to discus the races of primarily the Alliance and Horde. Each race adds something unique to the factions.

The scenario ā€œBlood in the Snowā€ in Mists of Pandaria.
High King Varian Wrynn wanted the full strength of the Dwarves. However both Bronzebeards and Wildhammers never fully committed their strength because they knew that should they face Dark Irons 1 vs 1 that they would lose.
Which is why it was always a 1 vs 2 against the Dark Irons. The Dark Irons are canonically the strongest Dwarven force of the Alliance.

So it makes sense that in the Battle for Azeroth. The Dark Irons beat / delayed a Horde army of player characters as well as wrecking the Zandalari Trolls.

Gnomes were never physically strong or imposing. So always depended on their intelligence. That being said Gnomish technology with Mekkatorque faced a Horde player army.

Night Elves are the WoW version of Wood Elves. For so long were the Alliance only connection to Druidism and nature. So while some strayed from that Blizzard is remaining true to the Wood Elf fantasy

Sigh. Another activist then.
Racial tensions is not necessarily racism. Even then have to keep it removed from real world and maintain the fantasy. So yes Escapism is a very real thing. Some wage war against escapism but without it the niche that became franchises would not exist.

Take Warhammer Fantasy.
Wanting all Skaven dead could be likened to a Vermin racist. But those filthy plague ridden rat men have only ever caused problems wherever they go.
Until Sigmar the Greenskins almost hunted humans to extinction. He dealt such a blow that they never truly recovered until around 1000 years later.

For people like you. The ā€œeverything is politicalā€ types. Escapism and Racism can not coexist. But it happens all the time.
If you think it does not exist in Warcraft then clearly you do not know Warcraft.

So?

You still didn’t get it

Its not an ad hominem when I say truth

And then you proceed to write down non-substantial trivia of surface level knowledge that literally amounts to nothing and doesn’t address subject of discussion.
Is it how you operate on the internet? Drown people in bullcrap?

Tension is when your tension meter fills up so you can roman cancel mf

Its directly linked to the fact that skaven is cartoonishly evil force of chaos, warcraft playable races aren’t cartoonishly evil and can be reasoned with

I feel let down Beerwolf, it didn’t work.

OwO? like the drink?

She also sent agents disguised as night elves to try and goad Liadrin’s faction into fighting the night elves in an attempt to disrupt the enemy.

So. What exactly has the Vulpera brought to the Horde?
Alpacas and caravans? The Nightborne brought their telemancy teleportation network.

A complete reminder what the Horde stands for.
A trade network
Spies and opportunist doing what’s required
Adventurers
Training members how to survive.

In the sense, that what the Darnassian kaldorei are doing or the way they are living isn’t really the noble virtue and great standards of real kaldorei.

This isn’t explicitly stated, and is an inference.

Yes, she was playing both sides, I’m surprised how few people raise this. Blood elves are no more addicts than night elves, they were all cured. But it was a painful moment for the blood elves, so sneering on about it, though untrue would have been hurtful.

Same with the calling of night elves as savages, seeing that night elves are the ones that have thought of others as savages. However, the northern Kalimdor faction living in the forests was a choice of necessity, and not an indication of their civility. Their civilization was destroyed by the Legion and to protect the world went through a 10k year period living in the sticks. living without advancing, rebuilding, family life, sacrificing it to protect the world.

Many may have found or made peace with it, resolved to stop the Legion no matter the cost to them (though not as intent as the demon hunters), however only the druids would have relished living like this. Calling them savages because they lived without technology and magic would have been a painful reminder of the great loss. Standing infront of Suramar would have driven hat home even more.

Night elves have always prided themselves on how above they are from the rest. This was their attitude in the pre-sundering era, and was the case in Suramar, it as the case isolated in the forests of the north, immortals above the normalcy of the lives of the other races, having achieved far higher and greater… and yet fallen so far.

Painful, and yes, sufficient to cause trouble.

This would not have been an effective goad if it was true and didn’t hurt somewhat. She had obviously infiltrated the groups, and she knows the elves well if only just updated over the fate of the kaldorei.

We do see how high the Nightborne think of being kaldorei - and how exalted they think this is. This is how the night elf typically thought back in that day, and their is a lot of evidence amongst the Northern faction that most still think of themselves that way. Above others. Except with the north, it’s no longer Highborne then lowborne then other races, it’s now all night elves, then other races. Fortunately most of them are not as arrogant as the race was before the humiliation of the invasion.

The Vulpera - well not the whole Race joined, just Kiro’s Caravans, rest of the race are independent, Vol’dunai or pirates or freelancers - are better than the Horde
The Horde have nothing to offer to the vulpera, just minor amusement and tag along while they travel and explore, while the Horde got a formidable race

As Brigante, may he rest in peace wrote once - sadly the thread is closed, can’t quote him:
ā€œMurderous - check, like other Horde races.
Thieves - check, ike most Horde races.
Researchful? Clever? Scavengers? Well that sounds like some Horde races…
You don’t survive Vol’dun by sitting on your furry behind singing songsā€

The Horde players - usually the ones who yell 'muh honor!! no room for cute races in da hooooorde!!!" - tend to forget, your average Vulpera pup is more badass than any of the Horde races combined, coming from a desert where the Zandalari Trolls - the toughest of them all - send other Trolls to die… yet the Vupera - even with the on and off Sethrak opression - not only survived but mastered the desert life
We are friggin Fremens of Azeroth!
Familiar with Dune?
Yeah, the Fremen. That’s your Vulpera right there.
When your traditional goodbye is ā€œTake care of yourself. No one else will!ā€ that means you are one tough, heartless MoFo!

Kiro’s Caravan, of course as a whole is too small to be notiacable on the grand schemes of things
But if you think about it?
The Horde NEVER was great
Pathetic, yes
Unrealistic? Totally
Bunch of loosers? Yep, checks out
Just look at them!
A bunch of failed invaders, who lost their mind and home planet then in the camps the will to live…
A handfull of them were saved by an Orc raised by Humans, so he was mostly civilized with some naive ideals. - not many. EVEN if they took the laregest ship we can think of, a Galleon - a ship that functioned with a crew of 50, while the crew of the larger galleons could number more than 400. Let be generous, 500 Orc/ship. How many such ship could possibly be anchored in the the bay? Even with 10 such ship - hileriously big number - that would be 5000 orc.
The Darkspear cannibals were so hated by their OWN people, the rest of the Gurubashi tribes they exiled them basically (chased away, they escaped some genocide there) and then one lone naga and her team of… *sigh * Murlocks tormented and almost destroyed them
These two tattered handfull of remnants somehow escaped on a few ships and washed ashore…
…to meet the Tauren! Yaaay, another race on the brink of extinction, thanks to the Centaur. But okay, they are noble and all, and the three banded together to wage a mini-war before the Legion landed on their head
Now, lets count that a minor mircale, they not died out a few short year after - you know, from the lack of viable population
These survivor tried to live in peace
Soooooo savage orcs… they fled to the opposite end of the world just to survive
Then Blood Elves, ~10% of the not that numerous Elven civilization that survived the undead joined with their mortal enemies (invading orcs and Trolls, and I doubt an avarage Elf would notice, hey this is a Gurubashi not an Amani! okay, peace. NO! A troll is a Troll is a Troll. KILL it on sight.)
Then we added…. dead humans and dead Elves to this mix! And a ship worth of enslaved goblins…
Really
Really?
Who ever thought this will work out?
But somehow the Coalition of survivors on the brink of extinction somehow managed to always make things worse and waged war after another…

And you ask, how and what Kiro’s caravan contributed to this trainwreck of a ā€œfactionā€???

Aside fitting in perfectly, and bringing experience how to survive, how to use what you have, scavange, think logically - jesus, if anything the Vulpera allied race questchain proved the Horde is not capable to find its own behind with two hands, a map, and a sherpa guide! Logistics, logic and common sense are not the best traits of the Horde - if anything the Vulpera brought all of that

There is a reason the Race remained neutral/Voldunai and only Kiro’s team tagged along - but even them are not that firercly pro-horde
Thats why even in BfA the only hositle vulpera were the Blige Rats…
And in DF you are welcome to talk and even trade and make business with the Vulpera - like the Artisan’s Consurtium they formed

Couldn’t have worded it any better :3

You are missing something very important.
Vulpera aggression caused them to clash with the Alliance war machine in the 4th War. While some measures were taken to scare away the Vulpera the Horde did shield the Vulpera.

A lot of things you got wrong. Forsaken are not dead humans. They are cursed beings and part of the Scourge. A weapon of the Burning Legion meant to weaken Azeroth before their invasion.
There is nothing left of the humans that they once was. Just like the rest of the Scourge before them, they force their curse on others.

A lot of Horde dislike the Vulpera so the sentiment is understandable.
Dark Spear getting bullied by the Gurubashi comes down to rivalries among the Troll Tribes.

The Horde gained more than a foothold but territories within the Eastern Kingdoms with Quel’Thelas and ruins of Lordaeron with Blood Elves and Lordaeron. The Highmountain Tauren and Nightborne gave the Horde territories of Highmountain and Surumar. Nightborne are magically adept but also have the teleportation networks.

Zandalari gave the Horde not just remnants of a navy but wealth as well.
Goblins are very wealthy as the 4th war was funded by Trade Prince Gazlowe.
The Maghar Orcs are meant to be what the Greenskins would have been had they not drank the demonblood.

The Horde are no strangers to deserts so Voldun is not a problem for them.
Should the Sethrak Loa be restored it will return to the lush rainforest it was described to be. There are many races that have pirates.

lol that somewhat answers the question.

You see, this is freaking awesome write up, that helps players to see the strenghts and merits of the race… However if i were to write similar things for the night elves, I wll get 8 blood elf fans replying in anger to take apart every single one of those points, as if they just can’t handle it.

Shame
