I wonder if they really underestand how powerful the racial identity and having a home, a nice one too with the art and architecture that captures the race … and the different variations or subtleties its sub-race would have.

You won’t understand how devastating war is, nor hate your enemy enough to want to kill him if you didn’t see a beautiful home now wrecked by their invasion. It really lends another degree of emotion because it is visual based, which is wow’s most powerful vehicle - emotional distress is also quite moving, but that is seldom shown, it is read and once in a while voiced. But people need to see good stuff first, to be moved to anger when it is destroyed.

ANd the satisfaction of restoring something amazing that you had lost is also a powerful motivator in a story, and an adventure that keeps going on like warcraft. If you destroyed my home in WC2, it is amazing to see it better restored improved and better in WoW latest expansion. Night elves had all of thier original homes destroyed in the 1st invasion of the legion, to see Suramar was amazing even if those night elves went horde. I’m sure allinace night elves are waiting for another amazing city for them. You can do that for Darkspears, Void elves, Forsaken, Lightforged - none of whom have.
3, Having a capital city that you contribute and can make happen, plus is useful to you and your adventure in more than just a hand in vendor, can be extremely empowering and fun. How many times have i wanted to visit Silvermoon on my blood elf toon, or some other amazing city in wow, but have no reason to go there, because it has no use - and yet in Legion, all through the expansion I was constantly going to my order hall, and it had nothing to do with vendors.
Add to that having quests and adventures in it in addition to the normal continent.
It would be great.
