What Tickles Your Fancy?

I’m just here to flaunt diadems or crowns IC.

I’m a big fan of the players that put on roleplay events that are open to all. I’m guildless so it’s nice to have an active event calendar on the AA. Makes Argent Dawn special, I think.

Big kudos to these organisers for what they do. :dizzy:

I was gonna post a really snide ‘the RP’ but luckily I could count on Argent Dawn to do that for me. Maybe that’s my favourite part

The many different types of people you meet through roleplay.

The perpetual crown contest between Vervaina and Coldshade. I seem to recall there was a third contender aswell, but these are the two I remember best.

AD has an… acceptable balance of Horde and Alliance.

  1. Seeing new roleplayers be happy that I just walk up to them, whisper them to help them and roleplay with them. Giving them some help how to walk up to people in character and then seeing how they have the courage to walk up to people and interact with others. It’s really cool for me to see how such a small interaction can do a lot. With those new roleplayers continuing to help other new roleplayers too the same way I did.

  2. In a similar fashion: just walking up to random chars and roleplaying with them. Walking through Stormwind or other places and seeing these huge profiles or over all profiles that have been clearly put work into, but nobody talking to them (sometimes for multiple days) makes me feel sad. I like to recognize peoples effort and work. Especially in profiles. It’s always nice to see how people are willing to interact with others by just a simple walk up. People are always so afraid of “BUT BUT WHAT IF…” when wanting to walk up to others, when in reality people are REALLY happy most of the time in my experience when others walk up to them and get an in character conversation with them going.

  3. Just over all seeing Argent Dawn for the place it is. A place where many people come together to enjoy a hobby. As bad as some drama and behind the scenes can be, ignoring all of it and just going ingame and having a good time is great. Seeing the large variety in characters and creativity people come up with is amazing.

New roleplayers are a treasure, it’s a bit soul-crushing when you see people ignore them due to their grammar or character concepts. As though these people were always some paragon themselves.

Indeed and it’s exactly why I don’t care. I know how bad the struggles of a beginner are since I can remember I was that once too. I guess people can’t just be bothered or so but that only gives me more motivation.

When I see some new roleplayer (either with the tag in their profile or stating it somewhere in their roleplay) while my character talks to someone, I just try to lead the conversation with the other character to a certain topic of opinion, pointing towards the new roleplayer and then saying something like “let’s ask that person over there about it!”.

My point is to just to include new roleplayers. Sucks to stand around while everyone is in groups. Groups are scary to approach.

1.) My favourite thing is what becomes of the RP after (although ofc the RP is just as important!).

I value the friends I have, some of them I have known for 10+ years, some don’t play the game anymore but still in contact. I mean, some I did meet on my old server! But they came here too in the end. There are others who I have met solely from Argent Dawn and I think it’s great that most people (I think) join the server for the same reasons, so ultimately straight away anyone we RP with, we already have one thing in common.

Ofc there are bad apples out there, but all the good apples make it worth it. I also still like making new friends! And have met some really great people already this year and last year.

2.) I always look forward to Jessina’s campaigns and try to attend all the ones she does, because they are just so awesome, organised and well thought out. Kudos to all you DMs/GLs out there. I love the content

Randomness in general.

I love it that I log on to do mainly just guild stuff or to look for a spar with a friend and then suddenly someone comes up to my character and then my night turns into a unexpected but pleasant adventure.

I like Booty bay. It is a buzzing little city with great atmosphere both IC and ingame-wise. The ppl around there are cool, the town is mostly lively and so on. Booty bay for the win!

Reiterating what others said; I really enjoy open, relaxed and spontaneous roleplay.
But I also enjoy large campaigns with indepth stories that allows exploration of your character beyond “everyday socializing”.

A good mixture of both

I like that u can meet so many diffrent ppl and gamers. Me personally is not a gamer in teh true sense of the word, and in AD I hve found many equals who just want a platform to RP rather then playing a game.

When I first started, I was terrified to make mistakes, but the longer I was there, and the more I actually did rp within different communities, the more evident it became that everyone makes those small mistakes new players are afraid of making, and it’s absolutely fine.

When a group makes an event, I have even seen them take in people who are not part of their group or community when asked.

I like seeing people use the lore in creative ways to build their own narratives and campaigns. We got Kaitylinn dragging you off to blow up a word-ending scenario with mutants and what not for one day, we got week-long island adventures, we got trolls going on pilgrimage, there’s ic funerals, and then we got the simple stuff like talking around a campfire.

The amount of things people can think of and flesh out is wonderful and I enjoy seeing it, and I enjoy seeing them interact in an organic fashion and working around or even using the limitations set upon them by the game.

There’s just so much diversity and creativity.

I’m still awkward with people, especially outside of events, but the realm as a whole being generally so open and the way the communities make it easy to collaborate with each other helps a great deal.

PS: Thanks to everyone who has ever initiated walk up rp with a new or just shy role player.
