What's the view on Night elf shadow priests?

Darkshore had two void plots / twilight cultist plots ever since Classic with normal NPCs speaking of Old Gods, the Void and its minions. There’s been several void-related expansions and 3 old gods were literally killed. Normal foot soldiers were involved in a lot of it (e.g. last shifting sand war). The Twilight’s Hammer also makes it no secret, nor are Brann’s discoveries very hard to get to. At some point you just need to let go of the “mysterious Old God” thing, because Blizzard just does an awful job of making it subtle.

It was meant to be subtle back in Vanilla when the only ones who knew about them were the sneaky night elves smirking like they knew something we didn’t.

But it’s really been a LOT of exposure to the Void to just pretend it’s still a mystery.

Good thing I have Wowpedia and Chronicles IC, like a proper scholar.

They are a pretty cool combo tbh. Shadowmeld has a whole new dinension to it.

I think Wardens of the Night Elves use Shadow magic, so usage isn’t unheard of, but I am pretty sure a Priestess would likely just use what Elune grants them.

Tyrande in Darkshore seemed to have Shadow/Void magic only in colour, but the actual telegraphs showed eclipses and moon stuff, so I wouldn’t make the leap to call it that just yet.

Who knows, maybe that’ll be elaborated on in Shadowlands, but in general I don’t think Night Elves would like usage of Shadow magic.

Wardens don‘t use shadow magic either. Maiev‘s blink was a gift from Elune, and like with the Night Warrior, Warden spells are based around vengeance and can literally wield it as a weapon (presumably from the night warrior aspect). It was briefly mentioned in the Terror of Darkshore interview with Terran Gregory. There‘s nothing in novels or otherwise that would suggest they use void magic.

The famous types of magic. Holy light, Shadow, Fel and Vengeance

It‘s very much Sentinel and Warden inspired. Right? And Wardens are, as we know, the keepers of vengeance. And while they were crated very specifically they’re still, you know, at their core a Night Elf institution. The concept of wielding vengeance as a weapon . And I felt that actually factored into this. This was just my feeling in putting this story together. If they are capable of being empowered by vengeance , then that means they‘re more powerful after they lost Teldrassil than they were during the fight of Teldrassil - 58 min

Spectre of Vengeance etc.
As I said above, likely Night Warrior related.

The recent bomb by Blizzard that Chronicles is subjective and written from the PoV of the Titans and their minions puts your statement into perspective as well. It leaves Elune as even more of a mystery than before. So no, nothing beyond similar spell effects suggests Night Warrior / magic Wardens use is the same as (Old God / Void Lord - related) Void magic. Why that is, several people already elaborated on above.
