When a bot is not a bot

Well that narrows it down.

Mild update (still hoping a Blizz employee sees this):

Someone who is a multiboxer (Ive checked, nothing against the EULA) has also been falsely banned.

Its pretty evident a bot ban wave has gone wrong; happy to discuss and provide any info to help prove were in the right (already have done via ticket)

I can assure you that a Blizzardian has already seen this… In a similar thread here:

Edit: Moved from Multiple people falsely permabanned for doing old content

Tbh I won’t lose much sleep over that one.

TBH

Running old instances for transmogs and mounts is the one thing I do to wind down and relax. With all the reports on reddit and other places of so many people ā€œunfairly bannedā€, for doing exactly that has made me decide not to resubscribe (game time ran out 2 days ago), until some sort of clarification as to what just went down is given out.

How do you know it’s false bans exactly? because someone said? I understand if you know you didn’t cheat and you can be 100% sure then, Obviously, However taking someones word without knowing and claiming ā€œanother person falsely bannedā€ is impossible to tell for you?

Good example of this is on Steam, There is like 50 threads a day of people saying ā€œI got falsely banned!ā€ The truth is cheaters/botters lie and say this, So the only people who can 100% tell is the person and I sure hope Blizzard don’t ban on a whim, If they start banning on whims and I see evidence of this, I’ll leave the game.

I’m not playing the game to be paranoid about triggering some false alarm.

This is also why I don’t touch CS GO, The overwatch system feels a bit wrong to me. Looking like a cheater to being a confirmed cheater is a different ball game to me.

I’d mostly do older content runs for the mounts and to chill down after playing for a couple of hours but, I’ve been running Emerald Nightmare almost weekly on a few of my leather wearing alts for those Satyr shoulders Xavius can drop, but after reading about this happening I’m not so sure about it anymore- even if nothing has been confirmed, it’s definitely not worth the risk.

They have made a group chat of 6 people and there are many more who have also posted on reddit and forums about being falsely banned, all due to the similar circumstances of running old content repetitively. Why would they all go this far to try and appeal to be unbanned if they knew they were cheating? Blizzard has clearly made a mistake in a recent ban wave and people need to know.

There is a possibly they did something they don’t think of as cheating but actually is, like using an external Macro Program to semi automate attacks.

I was banned, and I can personally vouch that I have never used any programs to automate any of my attacks or movement. The others in our group chat can vouch for the same, and multiboxing is legal under blizzards standards so this shouldn’t even matter anyway.

I’m not talking about multiboxing, but about using programs that make macros. They allow you to put pauses into them so you can press one button and it does all of your attacks from that one button press.

Yeah, only one person in the group is a multiboxer. The rest of us aren’t. We’re long time players of many years, one even as long as 15. Why would we risk our accounts after all this time?

Some people don’t think external macro programs break the rules, and that rule is one key press one action.

Even IF this were the case (which it isn’t for any of us), would this really warrant permabans for all of us?

Very normal thing to happen during a ban wave. People on websites claiming they have been banned for no reason.

Not saying they are lying but nobody knows except an individual. I would love to hear from Blizzard though to see if they have changed the way they ban people. Banning people without evidence and just going off what runs they have done is wrong and messed up.

I would be posting in the same way if I was innocent, However You never know. I sure hope it gets looked into properly if you truly are innocent.

I do hope a Blizzard employee is still reading this thread.

From archived posts in this forum, innocent people have been banned before in the exact same way as us and for the exact same reason (their innocence proven by them later saying their appeals were successful).

This is a problem. It has happened before and it will keep happening unless someone at Blizzard does something about this faulty banning system.

We shouldn’t have to wait multiple days to appeal for a ban we never deserved. That’s lost game time, and game time is valuable.

Sadly the policy isn’t under Customer Support’s remit. I’m not sure what you can do apart from a suggestion in the ingame help tab.

If you did it then yes, automation is automation, bans are given for doing it not the severity of it. You do know it may have been many months ago when the offence took place, it’s rarely what you were doing when the ban happened.

They will be but only tickets will make them look at the bans again.

You need to wait until they get to your appeal ticket.

The system is picking something up about your accounts that is breaking the rules or possibly breaking the rules.

I have seen that Blizzard gives you the time back if you are proven to be innocent. But it is only 31 pence a day, you can’t really buy much with that.

People have been proven innocent for the same situation, and ā€œpossibly breaking the rulesā€ isn’t an acceptable reason to give us permanent bans, especially as a first time ā€œoffenceā€!

Doesn’t that depend on the reason for the ban in the email? Something you don’t seem to have posted.
