Why Cataclysm and MOP Classic would be better than you think

Trust me when i say people that screams about not wanting Cata/MoP and forums negativity is not very good indicator

Yeah, not my favorite pvp expansions, no.

Rate both.

Personally MoP Classic would be at least good for getting lost experience if you could on this forever or at least regulary experience the Darkspear Rebellion and so the Legendary Cloak Questline and so also Ordos.

OK
Cata -10 because of (repeat):
World ruined
Talents specific spells ect. aka new talents trees
everything locked to endlevel.
(new):
Holy cows, and other race/class combos.
Linear quest (I never levelled any Worgen/Goblin - could not bear forced like that)
Breadcrumb quest
Quest hubs
Profession specs removed.
Ammo removed
Pet feed removed …
No need practise lock pick ect.
Mana removed from Hunter without given Focus potions / recipes.
ect, ect … You go read patch notes yourself …
Only fun thing: Underwater Zones, Archaeology. “Stood in the Fire” Achievement

MoP
-9 because
Further dumb down, streamlinig and equalizing of game. For instance:

  • Account-wide anything
  • Game so easy that I arrived Pandaria (jumping from airboat as I not like PvP) went up a hill, chatting to guildies by writing, killed 4 mobs, thinking it a bit hard, then after when looting saw all 4 was Max level  TOOO EASY!
  • Forced Quests, you could not decline, auto accept every time you pick a pumpkin.
  • AoE looting
  • Cross realms (badly made even).
  • Phasing used too much (and phasing herbs ect as well)
  • unfinished squishing - my max level Pally still being one shot by arrow-shooting mobs
  • weapon system remade to “it does not matter which weapon”-system
  • fun glyphs removed.

This expansion to me is when Blizz in earnest entered fun-killing mode.

one point up bcause Panda start zone really well planned and fun, Quest fishies, small things like Ferdinand the Bull, good questlines in Pandaria and remove of Daily Quest cap. Lots of thing were witty and I liked, just not makes up for unfun gameplay.

Summarize: I like PLAY WoW. I like see, read, think, do, not being pulled along and rained on with gear and G , not have rewards for just being there. Awesome cutscenes not enough to make me level again and again, and that’s my game!

I feel like I’m completely burnt out of WoW in general. All I play for now is progress, items, parses. I mean, I really enjoy playing with others and silly talks on Discord, but I can do that in other games too and at least other games will surprise me somehow.

I think it was also MoP that changed talent trees into only letting you pick one thing every 15 levels.

Do not remember, Only remember it locked many spells behind spces.

MoP is also where you no more need to go to trainer = Bad!

You remember correct. With MoP they also removed the option for warriors and rogues to carry ranged weapons while Hunters lost till Legion the ability for using melee weapons.

Most of the things, yes. However that made game more alt friendly.

You didn’t specified how long was your jump from and airship and what day did you begun your leveling in Pandaria. However if it was soo easy to level, why wasn’t you max level by the moment as well? We also had top raiders getting lvl 80 in the first day, like one Prot paladin with 4 healers killing lvl 80 mobs in icecrown because ticking damage of his concentration AoE didn’t required any hit rating and it was only about survival. So if some people know how to abuse this game doesn’t mean it is easy for the rest.

That was a downside, but I think there was addon or something like that to auto decline.

This is QoL. I do not enjoy pillaging corpses one by one after AoEing em down.
However I would leave an in game menu option for rewards of certain loot threshold, like greens, blues or epics to be separately looted from mobs they dropped from, while the rest items below threshold to be AoE looted.

Leveling zones were alive. More than now by the way.

Looking at you Icecrown. In MoP I didn’t found phasing being as irritating as in IC.

Squishing was part of WoD prepatch, are u sure we are talking about MoP? Wasn’t weapon skills abandoned in Cataclysm?

I remember that minor glyph mages had, when you could Polymorph critters and they would stay in that form for an hour. There were cicadas around Alliance capital the Shrine of Seven Stars. I polymorphed them into kittens, that kept flying around, like cicadas did  so fun glyphs were still a thing in MoP.

For you. For me account-wide anything means way LESS alt-friendly. Is not fun trying to get mount, you have already. Is not fun getting pet, you ghave already ect. ect. Is when I dreamt of being rich. One account for one character :frowning:

My very first day in Pandaria! I went there by forced Q from Citadel in STW. Jumped off airship, as I was told KIll hordies whan we land. Got a measly amount of XP from discovering a little, climbed a mountain and killed those four. First thing I ever did in Pandaria. Of course I was not max level when just arriving

I don’t think this QoL:
Why not all these “QoL” come with switch for me to disable them. I NOT want bags filled up and give chance for the Skinner following me to take skins while I empty bags at vendor.

More squishing went on oin pandaria. This mob was near shrine of 7 stars.
Weapon skills is other thing - I spoke of weapon system.

For me it is fun to play the game - every alt a new experience, a new journey. I want to play - not to have everything served on a silver platter.

Discuss all you like how cata and mop was like x or y, the main problem in classic is the community, which will only worsen over time. Guilds already feel like a job, imagine this in cata which has way more difficult raiding than anything we’ve ever seen in Classic so far.

MoP was my favourite. Though I doubt we will get MoP classic.

More realistic scenario - Classic+ (which I am not against).

But if no-one feels like playing because of inane baby-pampering in-game things, then guilds will have even harder job.

I’m really hyped for cata, the changes to guilds and the levelling+ rep system for guilds is a very fun thing to work on with your regular members.

This really resonates with me. It’s definitely something I deem part of the “classic spirit”; something that was very much part of the original experience but lost over time due to Blizzard caving into more and more “convenience QoL”. The novelty items you unlock are in some ways more important than gear upgrades, because gear upgrades will always be replaced but the rare items you find you treasure.
