Why FFXIV over WoW...?

No literally everyone enjoys Mario Kart.

If anyone even tries me to tell they don’t they’re straight up lying or got blue shelled one to many times.

I’ve never played it, and it doesn’t look particularly interesting.

I havent played FF14 so I cant discuss its method of acquisition of appearances but the deeper one goes into trying this in wow, the more it appears to be like a system designed to annoy. Its a mix between old expansions left to their systems, class/faction restrictions and the occasional blizzard effort to nerf items granting speed buffs(since God forbid someone clears Black Temple in 8 min instead of 10).

What I do know about FF is that at least one of the problems WOW has is resolved (you can acquire or do any class on single character) so everything else being equal, that gives it an edge.

Im just looking at it objectively, otherwise stuff like graphics and themes is a matter of taste. Ive come across enough people not into gaming that question how I could play something so ugly and cartoonish such as wow to realize that it takes some getting used to for any game.

It respects my time. WoW does not.

False

Wow is declining cause the game isnt good, not because casuals decided to try ff14

horseteethman went to weebgame and said he will never cume back to wow
ratface just went back to wow like a little baby, whats wrong with his IQ

That’s absolutely the most true line in this thread!

Would be actually fun if blizz would ban addons like dbm and weakauras (alongside with similar other addons).

Perhaps but whether one sees wow as not good enough or FF14 as better, the result is about the same for us feeling like playing a declining mmo. FF14 in reality is only the posterboy for whats happening though, not the game where most ex-WOW players went. People that stopped with it, but still have the spare time, actually ended up scattering into all sorts of other games and it doesnt need to be an mmo in order to compete for a person’s time.

The game isnt good so the casuals try ffxiv and found a world outside wow.

it was free not long ago .not even 1 euro.

Somehow I feel like you’re not making this thread with good-faith intentions, but… I’ll bite.

A lot of the appeal to FF14 is without a doubt the story bits to it, and there is a lot of it (Even the professions have some story attached to them). I would say the classes are also good fun to play with (I’ve certainly been having fun with them), I consider the dungeon/boss design to be stellar just as well, combined with the mechanics and the visuals.
One character can play all the classes which you can switch between with the click of a button

Probably because it does what WoW does… But better. Do you know of any other game that makes crafting more interactive than “Press button and wait for item to be crafted”?

Gear"Means" something in FF14 as well, what’s your point?

I remember playing Guild Wars 2 or ESO, who were also trying to go with a more story-driven approach, and while you are certainly the “Leader of the troop” or a “Fellow companion”, you’re still relegated to being a passenger while all the other characters have interesting things happen to them.
Meanwhile in FF14 you are the proper protagonist. I imagine that if Arenanet were writing the story for Shadowbringers, you would be there beating up all of the Lightwardens, only to have Alphinaud absorbing them and then struggle, as opposed to you being the one doing the struggle.
Or Zenos wouldn’t have any interest in you and would be eyeing Y’shtola instead, even though you’re the one at odds with him and she’s off doing her own thing.

I was having the issues the poster you quoted months ago way before Endwalker was close to being released.

The problem is the whole it’s free up to level 60 only means it’s free if you want to play at unsociable hours as the free players get booted out of the queue for paying players and then have to relaunch the launcher again to try and queue again.

Now don’t get me wrong I have no objection to being pushed down the queue in favour of players with an active subscription but why not just push us down the queue rather than kick us out completely and then have us open the launcher again just to queue? If this was happening on Blizzard servers then the forums would be up in arms about how big bad nasty ActiBlizz just want your $'s and don’t care about their players.

Getting booted out of the queue… What do you mean exactly, does it say anything for that?

Because currently there is an error going about that boots people out of queues, so I am curious if this is what people’re referring to.

I have not tried for a while but as a free player you get removed from the queue if enough sub payers join. Unfortunately you don’t just get removed from the queue but the whole game closes and you then need to open the launcher to start the game again.

I’m pretty sure this is the case for everyone during peak hours and weekends. It’s a brand new expansion, and there are far more people trying to get in than the FF team have experienced before. An announcement was recently made to apologize, and offering paying players an extra week of paid playtime to make up for it.

This was long before the expansion launched though back in August/September. I caved in a bought a sub for a month so can no longer play for free which is also annoying.

Weird. I’m sorry you went through that, but again, having also had a stint as a free player (around the same time actually) I never encountered login issues until the early access of Endwalker.

Did experience disconnections twice due to the EU servers apparently being powered by hamsters in a wheel though.

Huh. I started the same time but I didn’t have problems with getting kicked out of the queue after being in it for an extended period.
Are you sure there was no error number involved, just said “Too long in a queue” and booted you out of the game (Which I should mention, is happening the same to me in some instances)

I’m just trying to understand what exactly the issue was.

No, I was just removed from the queue in favour of players who had a subscription (the message was something along those lines) and the game was closed. It stopped happening once I bought a subscription.

Edit: Again I didn’t mind being bumped down the queue but the game closing and having to open the launcher again constantly pushed me into buying a sub.
