You might need to check the reliability of your source. If it has hunter in there as one of the “least played”, there’s something seriously wrong with their data gathering.
As a player, I don’t really enjoy its squishy + combo point style.
The death knight is more of a rotation style but the holy power paladin doesn’t click either.
As an opponent, I think PvP is also about strategy, and randomly being deleted is not fun.
As a human, randomly being murdered out in the wild I classify rogues as, umm, bad people. Hiding out, waiting to mess up the days of others. Which suits the class name, people between two visits to jail, evading the gallows.
I’ve just rolled one for the first time for Pandaria Remix and so far I have to say that I find it rather frustrating to play.
I’ve tried Assa, which is hilariously similar to feral druid at this point. I knew they were similar, but this similar? I’ve managed to almost 1:1 all my keybinds. I always felt like ferals had become too much like rogues, and boy has my mind not changed one bit on that front!
There just isn’t a whole lot going on as well. Lots of events, very small numbers, insane amounts of cooldowns and complexity that doesn’t mean anything.
For example that stacking poison. Why? It doesn’t do anything. You’re going to Envenom regardless.
The class also offers insane flexibility in ways that actually lead to a very unintuitive playstyle.
Don’t like it.
Outlaw is literally a slot machine. It’s got many of the same problems as Assa does, but that slot machine… bro. Seriously. May Roll the Bones rot in hell.
Rogue was put into the game to be the master of control - but because of the strength of AoE CC and the fact that rogues don’t have any, rogues no longer enjoy being useful at all. I don’t think they need anything added though; but Blizzard needs to look into these AoE stuns so the rogue CC’s can step back into the limelight where they belong.
Rogues are also doing a lot of things they shouldn’t be doing in terms of class fantasy. Rogues are using a lot of magic. Rogue stealth doesn’t feel very… stealthy. It’s near perfect and you move insanely fast in it. Rogues heal a lot. That’s not… rogue? Not really sure what’s going on there. I guess they need those things to keep up with other classes? But… is that good? Is it good that power creep can destroy a class fantasy in this way?
They heard the feedback and will change it, check last bluepost at alpha forums.
I can talk for retail. Melee classes are not favourable for pve. They have to be always in hitbox of adds/bosses. Rogues are not providing anything essential in pve. No buffs, no cr, no bloodlust. And yes rogues have a lot of buttons in pve and more in pvp because of the target macros. Also it’s pure dps class, you can’t pick other roles. Also rogues used to be OP, we are not that OP anymore
I used to play all specs, but now it’s down to 1. I’m only playing with assassination. I think a dps spec shouldn’t rely on WA that much. I don’t like roll the bones effect as well, rng is not good.
It lost a lot of its charm as world PvP fell out of favour and flying mounts allowed for easy escape for enemy players.
It’s fairly slow and sneaking around lacks the weight/strategy it used to have prior to most enemies being pretty easy for any class to kill/avoid.
Pickpocketing is fairly niche and doesn’t get the love that that systems such as hunter pets do (who inevitably end up getting new potential pets to tame in every major patch).
Of the limited Rogues I do play with, a disproportionately high proportion of them (when compared to other melee DPS specs) love to eat AoE and avoidable damage. Not the sort of class I like to PUG with - and I realise that’s more a player fault than a class fault, but there must be something linking them!
Its cause we have to always do highest DPS and Dam but also do the most interrupts and cc as expected for our class So …We get in there<.< To do just that… Die trying. Else we get flame
If we aren’t the top DPS at the end of the dungeon. And -at least- Done next to the tank in cc and interuppts at the end of the meteer of the dungeons. We are bad rogues.
We also have too at least call down one spirit bomb and done at least several Kamehameha’s or we are bad rogues.
Hell if we aren’t literally goku up in this room we are bad rogues. We have to preform perfectly.
Rogues are so hated because everyone and their grandmother has at least been ganked by a rogue in pvp at least once. And people believe we are some god class.
They want us nerfed and too be able to do everything except tanking at the same time. And if we dont? We’re bad rogues. So Rogues just dont wanna play rogues anymore. Everything we do is wrong unless we are perfect.
I used to play a Rogue in Cata before I quit. Modern Rogue just doesn’t do it for me. Three DPS specs that aren’t really that dissimilar to each other and there are is a lot to the rotation, as opposed to my DH at least.
In short, it doesn’t feel special or more useful above most other classes, sadly.
No need to insult us.
The recent rework made my Outlaw Rogue even worse.
Played since vanilla and its the first time I consider giving up on it.
Its been too RNG for a while, but now its lost its identity yet again. We’re back to being mostly faffing around with going in and out of stealth… I just want combat rogue back tbh.
Spinning up your class for damage is just too cumbersome as well. And stuff dies before you can go ham. Nah, its really in a bad place now. We had rough times before but its just not enjoyable. Even my fricking retadin is more fun and less cumbersome to play these days.
Doesn’t help that you have classes that blow things up with considerable less preparation and buttons. Which makes it look even worse.
I really don’t want to abandon my main… but I might in TWW.
