What have the forsaken ever done that they deserve recognition? What? They exist only to worship her Waifu and to do evil stuff.
WaitâŚWAIT! I think I have the list somewhereâŚ
Something to do with killing demons, hostile undead, evil Dragons, saving their allies,âŚ
Edit: Anyway, done with the derailment. Itâs funny the timing they had with Varian to create a statue of him while his people were almost starving one zone away. Bad move Blizzard!
And he does deserve recognition, but not ad infinitum. Itâs not as if plenty other races have been forced to move along past their previous leaders. Doubt many remember some key figures that shaped current factions.
Oh, you mean that they supported to kill threats which could be dangerous for them too? But in their free time they do their favorite hobbies like torturing people or doing experiments with them.
Going by your logic, Sylvanas just happened to be born in the right family, that which allowed her to be different than literally every other High Elf ranger.
Specially when most Westfall was starving.
Please, the plot just wants them to starve. With OP Druids and Mages who can grow food in no time, no one would ever starve.
I think to an extent it is for Faction Quest purposes, sometimes we have to -see- Garrosh doing his bad guy thing, in order for later quests to make sense, for example Stonetalon. It would make no sense if they swapped Garrosh for Sylvanas, we know Sylvanas doesnât care about Honour so the dialogue would just make zero sense, likewise we have to see him at the start of Silverpine, as the alternative would be Sylvanas telling errâŚHerself off for using Valâkyr.
Iâm thinking though, is he entirely gone? Varian. Heâs in Icecrown I believe at the Argent Tournament now and then, and I think heâs pretty integral for the âBlood in the Snowâ scenario, so heâs likely still around in some placesâŚ
Hey atleast he spared fate of horde warchiefs
Even Sylvanas, one of the most psycopthic, egotistical, and selfish characters in Warcraft, had nothing but respect for Varian, so much so that she was visually saddened by his tragic sacrifice.
Varian: The only leader who was feared and respected by Alliance and Horde alike. He will truly be missed. Varian was the perfect King. Strong, confident, cunning, wise, and popular.
Tbh Iâd take a weird, glitchy narrative over just outright almost never knowing who even Varian is as a new player. That could just be me and my bias though.
I want revenge nothing is finished, fogotten or forgiven : Lordaeron and those trolls vermins were but the first cuts many more will pay the price for the death of my beloved King !
All those hordes undead one or old one and new threats pay their tribute in blood and deaths and sing in union while we wreck, kill and plunder everything this is magnificient⌠For a start/
Wesfall is starving youâll be able to give us lesson when you horde behave as exemple and start not killing your own troops or each others whoever disagree with the worm bag until then you are in no position , poverty always exists period. Hypocritical much ? Tsss those hordes fanboys
Big up to King Anduin Wrynn for enduring the death of his father while remaining firm and level headed and not letting himself low balled by sme elven jerks , for the Lions , for Stromwind ! The true good, noble and wise people !

I was talking with a friend of mine, explaining Warcraft lore to him, considering he plans to play the game for the first time with me during the summer. I got to explaining how Alliance and Horde joined their forces in the assault on the Broken Shore, and how Varian had to sacrifice himself in order for the Alliance troops to retreat. Even showed him the Legion trailer cinematic, he loved it. At that point he just asked me âI still get to meet him in game, right?â when I realized that he kinda doesnât??
New Death Knight characters donât deliver the letter from Tirion, (who literally died more or less on the same day as Varian) they give it to Anduin, who was a small child during that point in time. New Pandaren characters just end up talking to Anduin (who was supposed to be shipwrecked somewhere in Pandaria at that point, iirc), instead of dueling Varian. All the quests Varian used to give have been changed or outright removed. The only instance where I (so far) managed to find Varian present is in Icecrown Citadel, and even there he has no voicelines attached to him- the talking animation still plays but he doesnât say anything. (I may be wrong here, there could be other instances he appears in, but so far I havenât found them.)
TLDR; Itâs kinda weird and sad that the new players never actually get to meet or see Varian in game, even though he was, and still kind of is, a pivotal Alliance character. I get that his death is a major lore turning point, but so is the bombing of Theramore and the burning of Teldrassil, yet those places and ALL the characters/NPCs (Jainaâs and Tyrandeâs old models, ie) within them are phased for new players to experience. I wish that the same could be done to Stormwind Keep as well, make it phased up until Legion content and the actual Assault on the Broken Shore, so the newcomers can meet the great King of Stormwind and see for themselves how his character evolved over the course of expansions.
If only we could see his spirit, just knowing his soul and spirit is at peace and not i dnât know where would feel and be better, faen but not forgtten.
Well it does feel a bit inconsistent .in Westfall I am told to take the message to varian and I end up giving message to some random npc while anduin sits on throne
I agree. If a character is killed off, it should affect the rest of the world, not just the story. And honestly, I think a world revamp, as some have already mentioned would do good on both points- making big lore point leave a long lasting impact, and tying up/altering the content related to said characters or places- no more weird timeline paradox shenanigans.
