Why normies infest rp servers?

putting away the hilarious use of the term “normies”.

If i recall there were alot of project 60/70/80 things going on a few years back because rp servers dont have the same utterly crappy and horrible sharding all other servers have

Make all realms on type, then make rp a mode in the game. Only rpists would enable it, and they can then do what they want in rp privacy.

So there’d be 3 games modes on one realm type; normal, role play, war mode.

Indeed there are bad eggs everywhere. Just one of those things.

Even on the stress test people were trying to RP, I just walked round them and avoided disrupting their gameplay. I don’t understand what is so hard about that

Yeah that just made a horrible mess for pvp. And there is no need for that on rp servers because they have their own shards

I think people go to an RP server so that they can see other people around and out of curiosity. RP servers are pretty full and there are some interesting things to discover and get up to.

nomies on my RP server?!?NORMIES GET OUT REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Way, way back there was some RP on all the RP servers. At a basic level there was just a different atmosphere with more immersion. Over time that’s lessened to only a few pockets of RP here and there. I stayed put on an RP realm (SWC) as I’d made quite a few in-game friends there and in the past dipped in and out of RP stuff, mainly helping others out. Now it’s quite rare to see random RP gameplay around, you really need to seek it out. On the whole most are very relaxed but you do get those that take it all a little too seriously. I recall RPing a drunken biker gang once, all on mechanohogs that invaded one of the Sillymoon inns, Dancing on tables, fighting, using halloween candies to throw up etc. The serious RPers in there didn’t see the funny side of it.

The downside now is we’re stuck in the RP shard with severe faction imbalance and getting groups together for things can be trickier. Had I known nearly 10 years ago what route the game would take then maybe I’d have gone for a normal realm but so be it. As a halfway house, I’ve opted for the RP-PvP realm with “nostalgic” but may change that if it’s similar to now.

I used to be a normie, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

According to op, rp shards are infested with normies. If rp was a mode instead of a realm, only rpists would enable it, and they’d only see other rpists.

I think you wrote it like this on purpose if you don’t know what I am talking about read your own post carefully :laughing:.

Does this make anyone else uncomfortable? :joy:

Whut? What do you call them? Rpers?

Must admit, and because we scan read words when we read I went “Whoaah, what now, OH!”

Yep, Exactly that.

Okay then just replace rpists with rpers.

I don’t really mind non RP’ers on AD server. The only ones to object to are the ones who deliberately go out of their way to disrupt RP, and I was told by a GM the best categories to Report them under, and the things to state in a Report that gets them a quick dirtnap. Seems to work, too.

Most Non-RPers are there for the social aspects, the lack of Sharding, some just like to watch (I realise how dodgy that sounds, but you know what I mean), they kind of like the bustle of people RPing even if they don’t. I guess it must be like having Blizzard add in a whole bunch more of flavour NPC’s in cities. One thing that hasn’t been touched on, but does seem to be a motivating factor for those with a canny sense of financial acumen, is that it is possible for a Non-Rper (Or an RPer for that matter) to become -Very- Very rich on a Roleplay realms Auction House.

The reasons are simple, a green or even grey/white item of clothing or armour say, is not going to sell well at all on PvE realms, PvPers aren’t going to want it, its trash, Raiders won’t want it, its garbage…

To a Roleplayer however, the ‘look’ of the item, not its stats, is more important, It could be the perfect piece of kit to finish off a look they were going for on their character. Add into that the fact that some people will have multiple transmog sets they go for. (I mean this character here has his ‘Ceremonial armour’ set, for important social functions, he has his actual ‘Field Armour’ which as a Farstrider Ranger is much more dark greens, greys, stuff that it would be easy to sneak through forests in, and he has a couple of sets of cloth and leather sets for when he’s just lounging around Silvermoon, off duty. (Because like heck would you wear your war armour all the time when you’re just down the Tavern with the rest of your unit, trust me, I have tried wearing Platemail for everything IRL, It is not pretty, and the discomfort and bruises make you think…-Never again!- )

So yeah, to paraphrase Jani “One players Trash is another players Fortune”…

Rpers will pay extra for kit that looks good, even if the stats are poor.

I don’t rp for now but my choice to go to AD was that I found so interesting and immersive to have player made events and activities in town and outside. It reminded me of the old TBC days.

Which is why I joined, I might not be a hardcore RP fanboy but neither I am disturbing people’s RP.

raises hand :raised_hand: me.

Ah yes just like how WM is not invested with pvers on the dominant side to get their risk free bonuses
