Why the devision?

i used to play both versions but after barely a month, everyone who did come back left yet again. i currently play retail because i can be more independent there. i have nothing against classic and i also dont mind people who do like and play it but it turned out i rather like to focus on one game than to split my attention and only half a$$ both.

and as to why people get so defensive if you talk about the respective “other” game, i think its because of many reasons.
might be because they harbor an inherit hatred for retail because they dont like what it has become. might be because they are a returning player because they got sick of retail.
might be because some retailer think that classic should stay in the past. might be because retailers think that classic people are rather annoying, etc.

both sides have heavy prejudices against each other.

however, condemning someone who likes both or one or the other is just childish in my opinion. but theres kinda the point. people absolutely love getting defensive about stuff they hold dear, thats just natural. in the end its just about opinions. i mean heck, even people from the respective versions are at each others throats sometimes.

bottom line is, its okey to like both and if someone judges you based on what you like, its time to show them the middle finger and just game on. they really arent worth your time. toxic idiots are literally everywhere and unfortunately they are a vocal minority. not every retailer hates classic and vice versa. :woman_shrugging:

I have no problem with it. Most of us don’t.
Its the very few that divides and think they are better because they’re playing classic or retail.
Don’t mind them.
They are just in it for the polarisation between those who like classic and those who like retail.
Just stupid and dumb people…

And that is why… You just proved the problem right there.

As long as there are 2 things those 2 things will have people that don’t like eachother for whatever reason.

I’m not exactly excited seeing people talk about classic on retail, cant say I care too much though. Some people don’t like it & they’re (very) vocal about it, the same goes for the other way around.

People are just always gonna be people i guess

That is the issue. Its a non problem.
I have never heard of any that badmouthed a Classic player nor a retail player. The only place that occurs are in these forums.

I see it quite a lot on AD, given certain people on there are quite peculiar? for the lack of a better word.

I saw the same thing in classic the first few hours i played it, just that it was a lot more vulgar there.

AD? sorry for being a noob…

Me too and there’s just more to do with your downtime on retail. I got 3k gold on classic, I’m in the top 20 most geared warlocks on firemaw according to ironforge pro and ranking on classic is not really my idea of fun when the people doing AV for 16 hours a day are still ranking so there’s just not a lot left to do on classic except raid log every wednesday.

argent-dawn i suppose. its a realm.

Oh… Got it. Not on that realm. I’m on Kilrogg and thats a heavy Alliance dominating server, not that I have any problems with it.

Tribalism is just another form of banter, we enjoy berating each other with insults because we get cheap laughs out of it. Better than listening to a nagging old w****

Because classic was and is a huge failure, every streamer hyped it up to earn cash, and then left when they got bored. You don’t get the nostalgia back, you’re wasting time, and the resources put into retail is less now that blizzard have to focus on classic.

OP’s point proven in one reply. Must be a record.

Because people will always just be people really. And it’ll only get worse when they further separate it into retail, classic and TBC. And so on.

Yes it’s a normal occurrence when they separate the playerbase like that.

I confess to being one of those people that groans to themselves whenever someone brings up Classic on BfA or BfA on Classic. But that’s because it’s just tiresome by now, that’s all. I don’t hate the people either way, whether I’m in Classic or BfA. I just kind of prefer to talk about the game I’m actively playing right then. Makes no sense to me to log on to BfA just to talk about Classic, or vice versa.

There’s a certain type of player that keeps logging between Classic and BfA and always talks about the opposite one. These talks can feel a bit endless… so I kind of just tune it out now, like it’s white noise. I don’t want to talk about “the good old days” and hear complaining about BfA in every chat while trying to do World Quests. Just as much though, I don’t want to hear complaints about Visions or BfA’s class balance in Classic. I remember Barrens chat from back in the day and it certainly had nothing to do with the state of Havoc DH or which healer’s the best in Mythic+!

Probably because the one about Bfa is true

I play and enjoy both i do not care what anyone thinks its my fun and i paye to play.
